Cute

Scorpion was fast enough. He pushed Osy and took the bullet that was meant for him. Osy turned and shot the soothing killer right between his eyes before he turned to Scorpion, whose left arm was profusely bleeding from the gunshot.

Everything happened so fast.

Kon slowly opened his eyes. He half expected to see the soothing killer squatting in front of him; instead, he saw a white ceiling. He blinked, to be certain he wasn't dreaming.

The last thing he recalled was…

"Osy?"

His voice alerted Toto, who was arranging flowers beside his bed.

"Mom!" She rushed over to his side. "Mom! You are awake." She jumped on his bed and hugged him, not minding the IV on his palm and the grimace on his face.

"Mom!"

"Toto!" Osy yelled the moment he rushed into the room.

He was standing outside the door when he heard her shouts, only to rush in to see his daughter almost strangling Kon in joy.

"Dad! Mom is awake!" She excitedly climbed down from the bed and rushed to her father's side.

"Toto, you are no longer a baby." Osy frowned at his daughter.

"I'm just eleven!" She folded her arms with a frown.

"And that's old enough. You are no longer a baby."

"I'm a baby!" She pouted.

"And they forgot about me." Kon grimaced a bit from the pain.

His words caused the father and daughter to turn to him. "Mom!" She rushed to his side.

"Are you okay?" Osy asked. He touched Kon's forehead. "Do I need to call the doctor?"

"I'm thirsty." Kon scrunched his face up.

Osy turned and took the bottled water from the table next to Kon. He helped Kon sit up on the bed before he uncapped the bottle.

"Here," he placed the bottle to his mouth.

Kon greedily gulped the water like a person who had been starved of water for days.

"You will choke on it. Drink slowly," he cautioned.

Kon didn't heed his words. He drank until he choked on the water.

"What did I tell you?" Osy closed the bottle and kept it on the bedside table while Toto rubbed Kon's back.

"It's okay, Mom." She slowly rubbed his back until he stopped coughing.

"Thank you." Kon smiled at her. "You are a darling."

"Of course, I am!" She beamed. "I'm a darling to my mom."

"Of course, you are." Kon used his left hand to tuck her hair behind her left ear. "You are my darling."

Osy watched them with a frown. Most of the time, he had the thought that Toto was stealing Kon from him. Kon had never behaved this way with him.

"Don't you have class assignments?" He frowned at his daughter. "You need to study hard to enter high school."

"Not for another three years." She folded her arms. "Why do I sense that you want to chase me out of here?" She pursed her lips and furrowed her brows.

Osy frowned at her. Before Kon, she had been a daddy's girl. She did everything he asked of her without questioning them. But now, it was not the case anymore. She didn't care for him as much as she cared for Kon.

"And what if that's what I want?" He narrowed his eyes at his daughter.

"I'm not going anywhere!" She folded her arms. "I'm not leaving my mother here."

"It's okay, Toto. I'm not chasing you out. If there is anyone who should leave, it's not you, but him." Kon grinned.

Osy watched them with a frown before he sat on the bed. "Are you okay? Do you feel pain anywhere?" He felt Kon's forehead.

"No, I don't." Kon shook his head. "I'm good."

"Are you certain?" Osy worriedly looked at him.

"Yes." He nodded. "I don't feel any pain. I'm just hungry." He yawned.

"I will get some food for you." Osy rose from the bed. "Toto, keep your mom company. I will be back."

"Okay!" She grinned.

"See? I've chased him out, haven't I?" Kon arched a brow at Toto.

"Yes, you did." She chuckled.

"Toto?" Kon called from downstairs. "I'm leaving without you!"

"Wait for me, Mom!" She shouted.

"We don't have much time to waste. I'm leaving." Kon turned and headed towards the door.

"No, wait up!" She raced down the stairs and met Kon before he could open the door. "Where are you planning on going without me?" She pursed her lips and glared at Kon.

"That's what it looks like, wasn't it?" Kon opened the door and stepped out.

"You wouldn't have left without me." She grinned. "You love me too much to go without me."

"Seriously?" He pursed his lips. "I would have left you had you wasted time."

"You wouldn't have dared do that."

She linked her arm with his. "Let's go." She started tugging him towards the car.

"Wait." Kon stopped her.

He squatted in front of her. "Your hair isn't arranged well."

"You were rushing me!" She accused.

"That doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of your image." Kon loosened the ribbon on her hair and packed it well before he tied her hair.

"Which image?" She pursed her lips. "I want to cut my hair the same way you did yours. I bet I will look as cute as you."

"Who said I'm cute?" Kon chuckled. "I'm not cute."

"But Daddy said you are!" She folded her arms. "I also think so!"

"No, you don't." Kon stood. "Now, you look cute."

"With my gown?" She twirled. "Do you like it?"

"Yes." Kon gave her a thumbs up. "I love your gown." He took her hand in his. "You look cute."

"Thank you!" She rushed towards the car, leaving Kon to keep up with her fast strides.

"Toto." Kon chuckled at how cute she was.

"Mom, get this for me!" She pointed at a teddy. "I want to have one, just like you do!"

"Me?" Kon blinked. "Who told you I have a teddy?" He furrowed his brows.

"Daddy."

"That's not true. I don't—"

"Kon?"

At the sound of his name, Kon turned.
