“Let me fucking out of here!”

With a strong kick, the tip of my heels grazes through the man’s neck, which topples him to the ground.

Right now, I am in the questioning room demanding an answer from the only man we could keep alive from the rescue. The other children were taken into Sebastian’s friend, who was a child welfare officer.

But we still didn’t get any leads about Mr. Reeves.

This is the only man we can question. And we need answers before daylight.

Before the news explodes to Susan herself.

“I said fucking let me out, lady!”

I grabbed his hair and pulled him to face me. He winced in pain as he stared at me with hopeless, bloodshot eyes.

“The only time you’ll be let out is when you die.”

“Then fucking kill me.”

“Don’t get too excited. That will soon come.” I crossed my arms and sat on a stool. “In the meantime, you and I can be very good friends.”

“Fuck you!” he spat at me, livid. “Do you really think no one will me?!”

“Yes.” I answered almost immediately. “Do you?”

Alexandrei had never been disappointed in me before. As my two friends scolded me, I merely lowered my eyes to the floor, unable to look them in the eye. They were right. I had made a careless mistake once again.“What made you go out there, Kierra?” Alessio crouched in front of me and asked. “What made you think that Kaspian would even have good intentions for you?”“I…”I wanted to say I didn’t.I was desperate to find something. To hold even the slightest progress, whether it’d be information on how to find the person who killed Professor… or about my father’s company. “I… just feel so lost,” I told Alessio. “I’m going crazy, Ali.” He pulled me into a hug and sighed, “Tell me what he told you, Kie.”And so, I told them both about what happened while Alex made calls to his department to deal with the suspect. My only regret was not asking the Viper what he had done to the suspect.“Have you seen him around the warehouse, Kie?” Alessio asked. “The man who stabbed you?”I tried to

Upon hearing my soft, fearful whimper, Kaspian’s eyes darted into the dark streets—sharp, focused, like he could rip through the night and spot the ghost haunting the shadows.I told myself I was just seeing things. The darkness played cruel tricks, especially on someone running on little sleep and too many demons. But Kaspian confirmed my fears with the subtle shift of his body. His focus was fixed on the narrow tunnel that spilled out onto the road—its insides pitch black like a waiting mouth. You wouldn't notice someone standing in it unless you knew where to look. Unless, like Kaspian, your instincts were honed by years of darkness."See," he whispered, subtly shielding me behind him, "Told you I should’ve come."A figure emerged from the tunnel like a phantom walking out of the void. My breath caught.Sebastian.His cold eyes didn’t even acknowledge the city around us. They pierced straight through Kaspian, straight through me, anchoring us in place.I watched his jaw flex. His f

When I woke up, I found myself in a room of white walls. The brightness of it almost blinded me, and when I adjusted my gaze to the light, I found out where I truly was.It was silent, save for the beeping sound of the monitor that records my vitals and made sure I was alive. The monotone beeping nearly deafened me.My eyes flicked to the side, spotting Alessio and Alexandrei slumped on the waiting couches, both worn down with exhaustion. Guilt prickled the edge of my heart.I tried to sit up, a sharp pang in my abdomen causing my breath to hitch. I accidentally let out a wince, causing Alessio to wake up from his deep sleep, something this stupid injury of mine had prevented him to indulge in.“K…Kierra?” he called, voice hoarse. “You’re awake! Alex—she’s up!”Alexandrei stirred immediately, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as they both rushed to my side.“Don’t move too much,” Alexandrei warned, hands gently bracing my shoulder. “You had surgery. You were stabbed.”The memory hit lik

  • The Mafia Devil's Princess   A Venomous Return

I ran across the rain in my gown on. Once again, I felt pathetic for having my ass saved by Sebastian over and over again. I felt even more hatred for myself for letting Selene drag me like that into the eyes of the crowd.“My god, when will this end?” I sobbed my heart out as the rain drenched me with it. At least, I am one with the rain. I find my solace in a small park. I sat across one of the swings, eyes distant into the pitter-patter of rushing water. The thick fog settled around me, concealing me from the rest of the world.Everyone in the hospital must be talking about me now. How do I even have the face to show them? I’d just started my career, and now this? All of a sudden, I hear footsteps in the rain. I shot my head up as a silhouette appeared beyond the fog.“Who’s there?!” I shouted at the man. But it only stared at me from a distance. Then I feel it.Pure fear.I stood up, focusing my gaze on the blurring silhouette. He stares back, as if waiting for me to make a move.

Selene’s eyes glimmered with malice, lips curled in satisfaction as I stood there frozen, suffocating under the weight of everything she had just said.“I want you gone,” she repeated, her voice low and seething. “For good this time.”Then, before I could react, she grabbed my wrist.“Let go of me!” I yelled, trying to wriggle free from her grip, but her claws only dug deeper into my arm.“You’re coming with me,” Selene hissed, dragging me out of the restroom and back into the main hall of the event. “It’s about time these people know the kind of woman you really are.”My heels scraped the polished floor as I resisted her, but she was already fueled by venomous pride. Not one of the so-called prestigious guests dared intervene. They probably thought we were just some emotional coworkers having a catfight. She marched me toward the center of the room, her arm looped tightly around mine now as if we were friends, but her fingers continued to bruise me beneath the surface.“Let me go!” I
