ANMELDENSloane's POV I stayed all alone nights and days without the man who I called my husband. I was with no comfort except from Natalie and Anika, who would just come to converse with me and leave after they were done. I searched for several perfect ways to get in contact with Chase, which I am yet to achieve. It was as if all my tries at looking for him were just putting or causing a thunder in his presence. For days I haven't gotten any chance to set my eyes on him. I was roaming around the room when I saw Antonio. At first I wasn't going to talk to him; I was just trying to ignore him before he saw me and ran after me. “Sloane, can you just wait for me? I know you are ignoring me, but this isn't the right time, okay? I have nothing against you; we are just friends. Actually, actually I am here to look for your husband, Chase,” Antonio said. He sounded polite. I would rather not fall for his low and calm voice. I was just in a haste to leave him. “Actually, he is the same person I am
Chase's POV With the pain of losing another warehouse to Madison. I expected him to be my supporter as a father, but he is the main rival to all my downfall. I was just planning a good attack on him. Soon after conversing with Roy and Harper, I had to leave the premises and head for home. Thoughts of how I would be creating my own attack were just on my mind. I couldn't think about anyone at that moment; all I could think of was doing what is best to get a better outcome. I reached home and met Mark outside the door entrance. “I really need to see you and the others follow me inside,” I said without weighing any of my words back. I knew he suspected something but couldn't say it at that moment, and immediately Mark followed me inside. I had to call the attention of all my accomplices. I included Javier because he was one of the important people I need to succeed right now. They were all present in one room, which I made out to be a secret where all of us can strategize our plan
Chase's POV I left my father at his premises. As I was about to enter the car to head home, I got a call from Roy. At first I was anxious. Why was he calling me now? Is there any reliable information that I need to hear? Then I picked up as I slowly put the phone on the loudspeaker. “Hello, where are you right now? We actually need your presence,” Roy said. “You sound as if it's too time-sensitive. I am in an area that isn't to be mentioned publicly. We will discuss everything once we meet,” I said. “Actually, Harper and I are both here in the warehouse on the road leading to the machinery estate. I think there is an urgency, and we need to attend to it,” Roy said. “This is very strange. All of a sudden there is another emergency. I hope it's not something too much that I can't handle. I will be there in no time from where I am right now. It is an exposed place, and I don't want anyone to notice my movement. I will be there when I am out of here,” I said and hung up. I wondered
Chase's POV I felt like leaving his presence after him giving me questions that were not pleasant to me. I didn't know the exact reply to give him. I just felt like strangling him. “Right now I can read your mind. All you feel like is just killing me and wasting me if I wasn't going to tell you what you need. But the exact truth is yet to come. So you can't force words out of my mouth,” Madison said. “I actually don't know where to start explaining myself to you. You didn't play any role of a father in my life, yet you still claim to be my father. Occasionally I ask myself if I was even made from your blood because, honestly, we don't even look alike or even blood-related. I actually don't know where to start talking so that you would understand because you are too dumb to understand any of my words,” I said. “Honestly, you are actually insulting me on my premises. Don't you know that I have every right to take you in, and no one will know about your whereabouts?” Madison asked.
Chase's POV In suspense and eagerness to know it all, I have to leave the blue secretly without anyone noticing my movement. I didn't want any accomplice or anyone to be with me while talking to my father. That was why I didn't tell anyone, not even Sloane, about my whereabouts. When I reached my father's house, I moved wildly. There was no security guarding the gate. There was only a CCTV camera on a pole of the gate. I quietly opened the gate as it was opening. Immediately I moved inside. I just wanted to have a private discussion with him, maybe with his words or anything he has to say. I will give it to have a lead against the enemy, isolating my territory. I just called out for someone who was inside. The place was all neat and kept, but there appears to be no one inside. “Is anyone here?” I asked without receiving any replies. I kept looking around until I decided on the building. Immediately as I was backwards to the door entrance, I heard a voice from behind. “You didn't
Chase's POV Without exchanging any words with Javier, I listened to everything carefully. I needed to understand the content of his words and exactly why he came back after a long time of departure. “This is all confusing, and I know that it might not sound too true to you, but you have to believe me here. I know what I saw, and I know what is ahead of you. Everything that is being said is true, but the thing you still have to understand is the actual truth,” Javier said. “Honestly, I am finding it too difficult to read any meaning into what you are telling me. To me, you are sounding serious and firm and also have a perfect point, but inside of me, I still don't understand or adhere to what you are trying to make me know. Recently Kazmir died. He was going to tell me the truth before he died. There is something I really need to know. There is a dark truth that people are hiding from me: my father and my late brother Koyla. I still need to know more about their existence when they
SLOANEI noticed something was different, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was until it was past 10 am. I realized I hadn't seen Annika. It was off because she would be the first person to greet me and tend to me when I came out of the room. She would have a smile on her face, her hair would be in
SLOANEToday was the day, the day of my escape! No, of course not. That would be insane, and I am not insane. Today is the day I will plan my big escape from this hellhole, from this prison. I planned it easily, well, my dad planned it.I just added more details, carefully. I moved like a panthe
CHASEI felt like shit, yeah, I feel things sometimes. I just sat there behind my desk, staring at the door Sloane slammed. I didn’t move, and I didn't call her back. My body just froze like a statue, like an idiot, while she walked out angry. I could still smell her perfume. It was still in the
CHASEI like silence, but on days like this, it was deafening and strange. My warehouse was quiet; I was sure the ghosts of my men weren't there either. Regardless of it all, I made sure my nerves were sharp, but something about my cousin, Mark, being here didn't sit well with me properly Then I
