Daisy:

I pace back and forth in my room. Not mine, Kaiden's. I figured it out when I was snooping and I pulled open a drawer full of Calvin Klein underwear, I roll my eyes at the memory.

He hasn't come back here since that first visit and it's been three days, I wonder where he sleeps. I shake the thought out of my head. I shouldn't be wondering where the asshole lays his head.

The door unlocks and the maid comes in. There's a routine to this. She comes in, drops food off and clothes which happen to be my perfect size, tidies up a little and scurries off.

I've tried talking to her but it's either she's ignoring me or she doesn't speak a lick of English.

"Good morning ", I tell her with fake cheer

She gives me a fleeting glance and goes back to straightening out the bed.

"Your boss can't just keep me here you know, people will look for me"

Again, nothing. All I'm rewarded with is a dry look she aims at me from over her shoulder.

"Seems like he's forgotten I'm here already, after all the threats and kidnapping I was expecting something more really. Maybe a little torture or starvation", I continue.

I drape myself on the window seat, gazing out at the garden beneath.

Sighing I say, " Maybe this is another torture method, bore your captive to tears until she has no other choice but to confess to something she has no idea about."

The only response I get is the door being closed. I trail my eyes over the flowers, taking in their vibrant petals. For such a grumpy man he sure likes his flowers.

Making my way to the door, I repeat the futile attempt of trying to open it. Third times the charm, you know.

I gasp when it actually swings open. My eyes widen as I take in the sliver of space between the door and it's wedge. I wait, straining my ears for the click of a gun or footsteps.

Anything at all.

There's only silence. Steadily my breath, I pull open the door. Peeping through the gap I look into the hallway. It's empty.

Holding back a surprised gasp, I step into the hallway. Threading lightly, I choose a random way to follow.

My stomach churns with anxiety and I take light steps towards the stairs at the end.

Pressing my back to the wall and ducking into corners when I hear voices.

I pad down the tiled steps, my head turning left and right. Reaching the bottom, I continue moving.

"Please, let me find an exit", I whisper under my breath.

As I wander hopelessy through this mammoth sized house, I can't help but marvel at it. The high ceilings, the paintings on the walls and the furniture.

I drag my fingers across the smooth walls, twisting open the few doors I see on the way.

"Hey! How'd you get here?"

I freeze, peeking over my shoulder I see a towering man glowering at me. He has a scowl on his face and his fists are clenched.

"Shit", I say. I bolt away from him.

I hear him shouting behind me as his thundering steps chase after me.

I take in quick breaths as I try to escape inevitable capture. Streaking past a room, I see more guards rise to their feet in alarm.

It seems like I caught them in their lunch hour.

More noise behind me, I take a sharp corner running up another flight of stairs.

How many floors are in this house for goodness sake.

Panting, I rush into a room and lock it behind me.

I lean heavily against the door, taking in the much needed air. I've never been athletic so this was a major workout.

I've evaded them for now but I'm still in this accursed house.

Groaning loudly, I push my head into the door.

I look around the room. Taking in its luxurious furnishings, it's an office.

There's a massive desk and behind it is a man.

Kaiden.

He's standing behind the desk, his gaze trained on me.

I remain frozen in place as we regard each other.

Chuckling under his breath, "You're an adventurous one aren't you, pyrkagiá?"

Amusement coats his voice. He steps out from behind his desk and makes his way towards me.

I try to step back but I remain rooted in place.

"Imagine my surprise when my men told me you've escaped. I was just about to come find you myself but you've saved me the trouble", he comes to a stop in front of me.

The air strains with tension, a shiver races down my spine at his closeness.

I release a shaky breath as he lifts his hand and glides the back of his hand over my cheek.

I flinch at the touch even as my my heart races in anticipation. Kaiden's eyes darken with intensity as he takes in my reaction.

"Don't worry, pyrkagiá", he whispers, his breath caressing my skin. " I won't hurt you... yet."

Kaiden's gaze holds me captive and I feel like I'm drowning in their depths.

His hand leaves my face as he steps back abruptly.

A sly smile spreads across his face.

"So tell me, Daisy", he says, his tone tinged with curiosity. "What did you hope to achieve by escaping?"

"I wasn't escaping", I reply shakily

He raises a brow. Folding his arms across his chest, he peers down at me. His shirt strains over the muscles of his shoulders and arms.

"I see, so what were you doing then?", he asks.

"Yep, we were engaging in a friendly game of tag", I tell him. Poking my finger into his arm.

"You're it", I whisper.

Kaiden's expression remains unreadable. He unfolds his arms, his movement fluid and deliberate.

"Tag, huh?", he comments dryly. "Seems like I didn't get the memo. I thought we were playing the game of keeping you captive."

"So enlighten me, Daisy. How did you get out of your room?", he pins me with a cold gaze.

"The door was unlocked", I mumble

His face scrunches in confusion.

"Explain", he barks out.

"I don't know what you want me to explain. The door was unlocked." I grit out in annoyance.

"What happened to the guard I placed in front of your door?", he enquires.

I hear barely restrained anger in his voice.

"I don't know. I opened the door and he wasn't there."

Kaiden turns his back to me. Tension in his shoulders as he strides towards his desk.

Picking up his phone, he dials a number and engages in a conversation. Foreign words dance in my ear.

I sigh in frustration. I can't even eavesdrop.

"There's no point keeping me here. You're wasting your time, I don't know anything", I yell at him.

He gives me a scalding glare from across the room. From his expression, the phone call isn't going too well.

Kaiden's gaze darkens, anger rolls in its depths. He barks out a few more words into the phone before slamming it on his desk.

He closes the distance between us and grabs my arm.

Leaning in he says, " So you're telling me you don't know anything?", he growls, his voice low and menacing.

"You just happened to find your door unlocked and the hallway empty, without any help? You managed to conveniently find your way to my office, without any prior knowledge of it?"

He keeps a firm grip on my arm as he lifts me to his height, keeping our gazes pinned. My feet scramble for purchase as they hover above the floor.

"Let me go", I snarl at him.

"I don't believe you, Daisy." He hisses out. "You're hiding something and I'm going to find out what it is."

Resisting the urge to roll my eyes at his accusations, I kick him in the shin. He barely flinches.

The door bursts open and a blonde man walks in. He takes in our position with a raised brow.

"We have a problem, Kaiden", he says, urgency in his voice.

"I'm aware Alex, she's currently in my hands", Kaiden drawls sarcastically

The blonde man, Alex, his expression turns grim.

"Not that Kaiden. Our shipment has been hijacked. It was intercepted at the docks, the merchandise is gone."

Kaiden's head snaps towards Alex in surprise. He releases my arm and I drop to the floor landing on my butt.

"Seems like I can't trust anyone but myself to carry out a job." He growls

Turning his gaze towards me. "Even guarding one woman seems to be a hard task these days."

Kaiden walks towards his desk and punches in a code. The wall slides open smoothly.

Guns. Lots of it. I watch as he methodically swings one across his back and tucks the other into aa shoulder holster under his jacket.

"Get someone to move my things back into my room, Alex. Daisy's just earned herself a roommate."

My blood runs cold at his words.

"I'll deal with you once I'm back Daisy, I need to take care of few things."

He leaves his office with Alex trailing after him. With the cold calculated look in his eyes I had a feeling he was going to leave a few bodies behind.

As their footsteps fade out, I hear another set making it's way to the door.

I lead Daisy outside. Through the gardens and outside the fence. Her steps slow down as we approach the forest. I quirk an eyebrow at her over my shoulder and she lifts one in response, distrust shining in the deep pools of her eyes. Scoffing out a laugh I ask, "Really? You think I'm going to kill you. Here, of all places." "I don't know, Kaiden." She throws her hands up in frustration. "You brought me out to a forest of all places, for shooting lessons and no one else is in sight." Daisy ends her words with a glare. I roll my eyes at the dramatics and tug the gun from my waistband, handing it to her with the barrel facing me. She eyes the revolver, her mouth turning down when I shake it at her before she takes it from my hand. "Familiarise yourself with it," I instruct. I turn from her and walk to a tree a few paces in front. "Then shoot at this tree and try to hit it." At that, Daisy pins me with an incredulous look. "Gee thanks, that was really helpful Kaiden

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   Blazing Inferno

Daisy: I make my way back to Kaiden's room, determined to wait him out and request the keys to the locked rooms. How does he expect me to get information when I can't access most of the mansion? A door opens below me from the end of the hall as I climb the stairs. Peeking over the bannister, I see Kaiden stride out with one of his men trailing behind him. Andreas. Kaiden whispers something and Andreas nods before walking off. His suit jacket is thrown over his shoulder and as he approaches the stairs I notice that his shirt is unbuttoned all the way. My eyes immediately latch onto the display of muscles. They flex and move fluidly as he walks and I crane my neck to catch the movement. He reaches the end of the stairs and our gazes meet. Kaiden arches an amused brow at my obvious ogling and I lift my chin unashamedly. My feet remain planted a few steps above him as he approaches, coming to a stop before me. With my view obstructed by his face, I take note of a speck of

Kaiden: I kill the ignition and step out of the car. Andreas is waiting, on his face is a pinched expression. To find Erebus, I have decided to separate my most trusted associates within Kyklos. Giving each of them specific assignments at given times. Andreas is vetting his men. As the head of security, the fact that Erebus has such a sway over the security personnel of Kyklos puts his authority under my scrutiny. Recently, he reported suspicious movement in one of my lesser-used warehouses. I had forgotten about this one, truthfully. It was one of my father's favourite spots to carry out torture and eventually murder. A vast expanse of land stretched out on either side of it. When I became heir, I decided that travelling such a distance for torture was tedious. Why come all the way here, when I have a basement at home or the network of tunnels under Blackbird? So this little gem faded to the back of my mind. How careless of me. Noticing that I've been silent all thi

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   A Promise Made.

Daisy: After leaving the garden, I wander around the house for a bit. Trying to twist open doors and memorising the dips and turns. "Locked," I murmur, letting my fingers slip from the door to the room I was unsuccessfully attempting to gain entrance into. I forge ahead, my fingers trailing along the wall. I notice some of Kaiden's men at the end of the hallway engaging in a hushed conversation. It ends abruptly as I walk closer. Feeling awkward at their stares, I offer them a strained smile. Their faces remain stoic so I scramble passed them. I roll my eyes in response. Gaining the freedom to roam the house hasn't proven to be as exciting as I thought. Not when most doors are locked. How are we supposed to work together when I can't find anything useful? My eavesdropping skills could use some work too. I grimace at the thought. My feet come to a stop when I hear a voice. The person seems tense as he carries on the conversation. Not wanting to be discovered, I thread close

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   The Space Between Us.

Daisy: I watch Ivan walk away and lift a confused brow at Kaiden. "Erebus blew up one of his warehouses," Kaiden answers my unspoken question. He blows out a long breath while running his fingers through his hair in frustration. "What are we going to do?" I ask, noting how his eyes widen in surprise when I say 'we'. "We made a deal, Ivan and I. Since his warehouse was attacked, he now has a personal grudge against Erebus. He is going to help me track him down in exchange for a favour," Kaiden replies reluctantly. "What kind of favour?" I probe, unwilling to back down. He is the one that suggested we work together and I am determined to get all the information I can pull out of him. Kaiden remains silent, drawing it out in a way that I know is deliberate. I fold my arms over my chest and pin him with a glare. He grabs my arm and tugs me to the couch, urging me to sit. I relent and he sits down beside me. "In exchange for full access to Kyklos whenever he needs it."

  • The Mafia Don's Revenge   The Price Of Power.

Kaiden: Ivan's expression is unreadable as he steps into the room. His eyes scanning the space before they land on me. "Kaiden, good to see you," his voice is neutral as he saunters to the couch and takes a seat. I give him a nod in greeting. "What brings you here, Ivan?" Ivan's gaze flits to Alex, who's standing off to the side. "I'd prefer if we discuss in private." Alex acknowledges the unspoken cue and makes his way to the door. " I'll be outside if you need me." He pats me on the back as he passes by before he exits. Ivan watches him walk off then looks at me, his eyes narrowing slightly. "One of my warehouses was blown up. Dozens of kilos of product went up in flames." he says, his voice tight with anger. "It seems like someone has been tampering with my business, causing significant losses." I keep my expression blank even as I can feel the weight of Ivan's anger. "I am sorry to hear that, Ivan," I tell him, keeping my voice measured. "But I am confused as to what tha
