Selene POV

Before I could respond, it all happened so quickly. Still, it was good to hear him apologize.

“Okay, let’s stand together and fight for our child,” he said.

Damon returned, informing us, “Everything is ready. The rogues are struggling to hold off the army; they’re trying to breech the fortress.”

“We need to take action before Gracey or Seth employs magic to penetrate our defenses,” Caspian stated, looking at me.

I understood what he meant and stepped away. I headed to the door, where Damon offered me an encouraging nod.

It was either the necklace or nothing.

I dashed to the baby’s crib and looked down at him, sleeping soundly. A tear escaped my eye as I realized he might never experience peace, only the tragedy of war.

The chief maid, Mandy, entered the room. I picked up the baby, removed his necklace, and handed him to her.

“Take him underground. As long as I have this necklace, Gracey won’t get to him,” I instructed.

Selene POV As I stepped into the hall, it was packed with people of high social standing. Soft music played in the background while guests mingled with each other. My heart raced; tonight marked one year that Caspian and I have been a couple. A year filled with unexpected drama. Everything could change dramatically once the war was over. I scanned the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of him—the man who makes my life brighter. But as the moments passed, my anxiety grew. Where is Caspian? The soldiers had arrived and greeted me with friendly smiles. They were the only ones who had shown me any support, largely because of Caspian’s influence. Without him, I felt invisible, and I feared the judgment I would face from others. Standing at the edge of the room, trying to keep composed as I smiled at those who approached me, the door swung open, and Caspian walked in. My heart raced when our eyes met, but his expression was serious, causing my smile to fade. He stepped aside, and then a

Lucian POVWatching from my mansion window, I observed as Selene was led away by the convoy. I grasped my staff, ready to take action. This was precisely what I wanted, and I planned to ensure there were consequences for everything. I made my way to the dungeon nearby.gang memberss howled in fury when I entered. I pulled out a money pouch and tossed it to the ground.“Inside, there’s gold. The first to kill will claim it.”“What do you want us to do?” they asked in unison.I smiled as I outlined my plan and handed them the convoy’s scent.“Consider the job done,” they assured me.I nodded at the guard, who opened the dungeon, allowing the gang memberss to rush out, excitement coursing through my veins. While Jessica attended to matters at the city house, I stepped into my study to grab a book. I noticed footsteps behind me.It was the Doctor.“Hello, Doctor. It’s been ages,” I sa

Selene POV“Jessica is just a coward—a superficial girl who believes she can waltz right into the city and take control. We’ve put up with her long enough.”Vincent’s words echoed through the room as we kept our heads down. The revelation of Lilly and my son’s disappearance crashed over me like a tidal wave. This marked the second time I had been separated from my son, and words couldn't capture the depth of my pain.I glanced over at Caspian, who had been unusually quiet since his resurrection; his silence felt layered, as if he harbored a plan.“Jessica must be eliminated, and this time, we’re taking no risks,” Vincent asserted. He appeared to be the only one in the room fully committed, while the rest of us faded into shadows, grappling with the heartache of losing our boy.“How many rogues are with you?” Caspian finally broke the tension.“There are five thousand rogues,” Vincent replied, casting a

Jessica POV“The boy is my friend’s. I want to raise him,” I protested. “You will have time to do that, but I can't allow him to be raised by another man,” he insisted, handing me a paper. “What is this?” I inquired. “A marriage agreement between us. Jessica is a thing of the past, and I need someone I can manage easily.” “I will never betray my wife’s love,” I replied angrily. “Either you do so, or face death,” he warned, fury in his eyes. Conflicted, I didn’t want to betray my wife yet feared for the child’s safety. Just as I was on the verge of signing the document, I hesitated, glancing at him. “What’s wrong?” he demanded. He seemed to contemplate something before saying, “Give me time to reconsider this proposal.” I nodded as he carefully reviewed the letter I’d almost signed before unexpectedly tearing it to shreds. “I was going to let you sign it, but changing my mind seemed wiser given what Jessica is capable of,” he remarked. “Okay…” I said, about to clo

  • The Mafia King’s Forbidden Obsession    CHAPTER NINETY THREE

Lucian POVThe chill in the air persisted as I anxiously awaited Jessica’s arrival, growing weary of her unpredictability and lack of communication. The dynamics between us had taken a turn for the worse, largely due to her selfishness. She’d even allied herself with Rudolph, a notorious traitor from the East Coast City. Then came a heavy knock on the door, prompting me to rise from my bed and answer it. “Lord, we’ve received news of a young girl attempting to flee the City,” a soldier reported. “And how does that concern me?” I replied, irritation clear in my voice. “She’s carrying a child and wearing a golden necklace.” Golden necklace. The same one that Jessica had coveted and which had instigated the chaos in our City. I followed the soldier out to the City chamber, where a young woman was restrained, her hands chained, while a maid held a baby nearby. “Did you think you could slip away from East Coast City unnoticed?” I asked, a chuckle escaping me. “I have eyes everyw
