Chapter 12

Few hours ago

Her classes had finished early for the day. Nikolas told, he would come and pick her up from the college. She still had two hours of buffer time. Why not have some fun? It wouldn't make any difference as she wasn't going to inform him that she is free to go earlier.

Juliet knew it was a bold move she was making by going against the instructions of Nikolas. But when life turns ugly a little bit of adventure doesn't go out of league.

“You know you're taking a big risk?” Savannah reminded her.

“I am already in an awful situation. What's the worst that could happen? Juliet cross questioned her.

Savannah looked at Jul

Nikolas looked disturbed and she quickly added, "some day." Playing the pendant of the chain between her fingers.Juliet did not want to see him in grief. There is more history about the chain than she thought of and she will wait for the day when he will open up fully to her.He shifted his gaze at the water and leaned on the rail beside her. Nikolas did not say anything. He just stared. It was almost like he played back some important event in his life. Seconds passed and then minutes. He still had not said a word. Her pacification did not ease him. Juliet was worried if she hurt him beyond repair by asking him about the chain."I told you it's okay if you don't want to talk about it. Don't think too much. I am fine. We all have issues for which we need time to open up." Juliet turned her face towards him and conf

A few minutes after everyone had started to settle down, Juliet savored the corn tortillas that went perfectly with the eggs and salsa. She was about to take a sip of her juice when Marcus looked up and held out his hand. “We understand you are from Orlando.”Juliet looked at him surprised, almost biting her tongue when he could make out her origin without her revelation. “Your accent.” He answered her unasked question, casually took a gulp of water and continued with his questions by carefully guarding her. “They have good universities there. I was wondering why you chose New York. I thought surely you wanted to be closer to your family.”Juliet smiled. She knew she was being screened by his experienced eyes. Juliet surely wanted to be closer to her mother but money did not allow for that. “Well,” she said.

  • The Mafia Leader's Virgin Surrogate   Chapter 31

After the morning bath Juliet came out and dressed in a beautiful pink frock that reached below her knees. Nikolas has filled her closet with dresses that suit for every occasion including maternity dresses. When she asked why he was spending so much money on her, his reply was simple, "because I want to give you a life of dreams."Juliet was moved with tears filled in her eyes. She couldn't ask God for a better life than she was living. It feels like she hit a jackpot to marry Nikolas. Her belly wasn't clearly visible because she was a slim woman but the food cravings were high. Juliet smelled eggs and salsa as the door of the restaurant came into view. She closed her eyes and breathed as a feeling of nostalgia filled her nose.It was also the moment when she felt a little homesick. Her mom used to make the b

"Don't you ever goddamn ask if I would love our babies. You understand? I already love our future kids." He brushed his hand affectionately on her belly.Juliet nodded like a school kid. "And promise me you will not leave me making your assumptions about the women in my past. You are my wife and you are the only one."Going on her tippy toes, she smacked him a kiss. "I promise. I'll never leave you, Nikolas. I love you too much." He slammed his lips on hers again and sucked all the air from her lungs. The next morning....Beads of sweat settled in her forehead. Her intake of breath was like she just ran a marathon. Juliet looked beside and gulped the bottle of water to clear the restriction that occupied her throat. She hadn't recovered from the nerve numbing night

What if Nikolas really was giving his best? Is that not what she wanted anyway—his best? Many minutes passed by after that. But they stayed the way they were.He already knew what she wanted to ask. Nikolas sighed at her silence. He released his hold from around her hair and gestured his chin to the door. “Close it. I don't want anybody to hear what I am going to say to you.” Juliet went and shut the door. She wondered what was so mysterious about the information he was going to give her. And he answered Juliet’s curiosity. “No sisters. We are four brothers.”Juliet left a soft gasp. “Isn't that what you wanted to ask? About my family?” He could read her mind like the back of his hand. Nikolas walked to the bed and sat. Juliet kept watching him. His arms crossed against his chest. He would not even look at h

Nikolas’s lips parted and then shut. His mouth opened again but nothing came out. She was pushing him. If he married her and wanted her to be with him forever, she wanted to be sure that he was serious with their relationship. Juliet did not want to be another notch on his list and didn't wish to show up on more such women like Trivia.Instead of answering, Nikolas stood. He looked away and focused his attention somewhere else, anywhere but on her. He opened the balcony door and stepped out.Juliet watched him hold onto the high metal bars outside and gaze at the ocean. He seemed alone in his thoughts, accustomed to shutting out anyone who dared to intrude on his life.Juliet wondered why he insisted on having no one there for him. Was he considering what she said, or was he waiting for her t
