Chapter Three
•KIANA•
I felt my fingers twitch as my eyes slowly cracked open. I snapped it close a second later because of the bright light. I opened my eyes again and they have gotten accustomed to the light. The first thing my eyes came in contact with was a beautiful tray ceiling with a golden chandelier. I let my hand wander across the bed and it was softer than anything I had ever seen. I quickly got into a sitting position and looked around the room. The room was dark, save for the chandelier and the curtains were drawn close but sunlight was peeking inside. There was a nagging voice at the back of my mind telling me that I had been abducted and I tried to remember what happened.
That was when everything that had happened began playing in my head like I was watching a TV. I remembered being dragged out of my father's house by the huge men that came to get back their money, I also remember that I was put inside their car and one of them drugged me when I was putting up a fight.
On instinct, I hastily unbuttoned my jeans -- I was still in my clothes from the other day -- to see if nothing was wrong or unusual down there and I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw that everything was undisturbed, just as I had left it. Most of the items on the to where in black colour with gold coating them and it showed that whoever it is that owns the room was rich, if the chandelier and king-sized bed were not enough indication. Even the edges sheets were coated in gold.
I slowly got up on my feet, my legs wobbling a little bit because of the sedatives I must have been drugged with before I finally regained my footings. I walked around the room for a bit, touching everything my hands found and scared to break anything because I was pretty sure that they were all very expensive.
I had gotten lost in checking out the room when that little voice reminded me that I was kidnapped and this rich looking room was probably to deceive me about an impending doom to come. I strode to the door and tried to open it but it was locked. Of course it was locked. They wouldn't want their prisoner escaping while they were not here, even though I don't look like a prisoner, I might as well be one with an expensive prison.
I began banging on the door when I saw that there was no way for me to open the door.
"Open this door!" I screamed, accompanied with my fist jamming the door.
"Open this damn door!!!" I shouted at the top of my lungs as I kept on banging the door.
The only time I stopped was when I heard the clicking sound of a key turning. I stepped back and watched as the door cracked open. I got into a fighting position, ready to roundhouse kick whoever it was that opened the door (I took a few karate lessons when I was in highschool) when a petite dark haired girl came in. She stared at me in surprise and I quickly straightened my spine before clearing my throat awkwardly.
"Good morning miss." She bowed her head and greeted and it was my turn to be confused.
"Good morning." I replied her greeting. "Why are you bowing to me? I'm not some sort of royalty and I'm sure you're older than me even if it's by a few years."
"It's mandatory for me to bow while talking to you. I'm just a maid." She said, her head still bowed and I let my eyes check her out from head to toe and she was indeed dressed in a maid outfit.
"That doesn't mean anything, we're both humans. And I'm telling you now to not bow to me." I stated and she slowly raised up her head and I was able to gaze into her beautiful blue eyes.
"That's better." I bobbed my head and she smiled.
"She's the complete opposite of our Boss. They'll make a perfect couple." I heard her mutter as I went back to the bed and I glanced at her.
"What did you say?" I asked.
"Nothing." She replied sharply but I didn't not to probe further.
"Where is this place?" I asked after I sat on the bed.
"The Griffin Villa, ma'am." She answered.
"The what?!" I asked like I didn't hear the first time.
"The Griffin Villa." She repeated.
"I heard you the first time, I was just making sure I heard correctly as I'm not sure I've heard the name before. Are we still in America?" I asked dumbly.
"Yes ma'am. We're still in America." She answered calmly.
"Phew! Thank goodness." I sighed. "At least that's a relief."
"Do you by any chance know why I'm here and what day is it?" I quizzed.
"I'm not in the place to tell you why you're here and today is Wednesday." She responded and I was surprised.
"Well, okay." I nodded.
If today is Wednesday, that means that I haven't taken a bath for a day now and I'm still in my clothes from Monday night. I'm sure I smell like garbage now. If the maid has smelled it, she's doing a good job in not showing it.
"The reason I'm here is to help you freshen up and also dress you up." She uttered.
"Oh... Okay." I said, at loss of words.
"I'll prepare your bath now." She said and walked towards a door that I hadn't noticed before. She opened the door and it led to an ensuite. I'm pretty sure it's bigger than my whole house.
"Miss... I'm done preparing your bath, you can come in now!" She called from the ensuite a few minutes later and I stood up slowly. I walked tentatively to the ensuite and my jaw dropped when I saw that it had a jacuzzi. Of course it had a jacuzzi bathtub! I quickly closed my mouth so that I wouldn't make a fool of myself in front of the maid. I still don't know her name.
She was in the ensuite too, standing beside the jacuzzi.
"You can get in." She said a few seconds later and I quirked an eyebrow at her.
"I'm going to strip now, will I do that with you here?" I asked her.
"Yes, The Boss personally ordered me to stay with you at all times, even when you're taking your bath. Besides, I'm a female too and I've seen my fair share of naked females." She said with a nonchalant shrug and I gulped. She said it like being naked with another person in the same room is a normal thing. Oh well.
I stripped out of nightgown and hastily got into the jacuzzi, the warm water quickly soothing my body and calming my tense muscles. I sighed in satisfaction as the water enveloped my whole body, leaving just my head above the water.
I felt hands on my shoulder and I opened my eyes to see the maid behind me. I should really ask for her name.
"What are you doing?" I asked in confusion as she began to give me a massage and my tense muscles slowly began to relax under her touch.
"You seem tensed, I figured you might need a massage." She replied simply.
"Oh, thank you." I smiled briefly and closed my eyes once again. "What's your name?"
"My name is Julie, Miss." She responded.
"Please don't call me Miss... It makes me feel uncomfortable. You can call me Kiana." I stated.
"Erm... Okay Kiana." She said tentatively, as if testing the feel of my name on her lips.
"That's better." I grinned at her and she smiled back, the first one I've seen on her face.
Since I didn't know how long I would be spending in this Griffin Villa, I might as well try to make some friends. And I had no idea how life in this place would be.
After some minutes, Julie finished massaging my body and I got out of the jacuzzi. I dried my body and put on the robe she gave to me.
We went back to the room and I applied lotion to my skin then got dressed in a beautiful sunflower dress that Julie provided. She did a simple makeup for me and also styled my hair into some style that I didn't know. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw a beautiful girl staring back at me. A beautiful prisoner in an expensive prison. How cute.
"Huh Julie... What's the occasion? Isn't this a little too much for someone that's going to be locked up in a room all day?" I asked with a puzzled look on my face.
"No, it's not too much. And you're not going to stay locked up in this room. You're going to have brunch with The Boss' family." She said and I froze.
Chapter 40KIANA“I’m done. This is it. Watch me shake the world.”That was the moment I clicked Publish on my hook. I have never been this happy in my life! It felt like I had finally pushed a heavy burden off my shoulders. My heart pounded so hard I could feel it in my fingertips, in my ears, in my throat. The sound was so loud it felt like it had taken over the room, like even the city outside might stop for a second just to hear it. The glow of the laptop screen lit up my face, throwing pale blue light on my trembling hands. And then it was out there. That was the main news! It was really out there! My words were no longer mine alone. They belonged to the internet and to strangers who would read them, love them, hate them, tear them apart, or hold them close.I sat there staring at the screen, breathing in shallow bursts. Those lines I had just sent into the world didn’t feel like sentences anymore. They felt like a dream came through. And maybe they were. Because what came n
Chapter 39KIANA“Are you seriously alive?” My voice cracked like a loud whip as I slapped him hard. The sting in my palm was not just for him. It was for every second I thought I had lost him forever.Aiden blinked, caught off guard. “I thought you had moved on too fast. What happened? What, exactly?”I stepped back, my chest heaving heavily as my heart kept pounding like a war drum. “Moved on? You vanished all of a sudden and I buried you in my mind a thousand times.” I answered and he smiled, but it was a sharp thing. Whenever he smiled like that, I could see his heart slicing into pieces. “I had to. For the final move.”“The final move?” I echoed as my voice trembled. My hands shook as they instinctively pressed against my belly. Months into pregnancy and the weight of the life inside me felt heavier now than ever before. “Explain! Now. You aren't even making sense!”He looked away and his brows furrowed . I wasn't going to let him come in here because he can. “I drew D
Chapter 38KIANAWeeks later“I think I’m going to fall,” I said to myself before the spoon in my hand slipped, clattering onto the plate. The whole room spun around me and the light above me flickered. Before I knew what was happening, my knees gave way.I didn’t even feel the floor. When my eyes blinked open, I saw Aiden’s face right above me with his sharp jaw and furrowed brows. His eyes were wide like he had just watched me die. I had no idea what was happening. How did I even find myself here?“Kiana. Hey. Look at me,” his voice was low but trembling.I tried to move but my head felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. I felt so heavy up there and the room was spiralling . “I’m… fine.”“No, you are not.” His hands cupped my face like he was afraid I’d vanish. “You just fainted in the middle of breakfast. What’s the matter? This is very unlike you. ”From somewhere behind him, Emma’s voice wavered. “We should take her to the hospital. Now.”“I said I’m fine,” I shouted out. My
Chapter 37AIDEN"Take it off."She froze like I had just set the room on fire. I knew that if I didn't do it tonight, she was going to set the whole house on fire. I don't have any excuse now. I was alive and well and this was going to be our first night together. I wasn't in the hospital anymore. “You heard me right. Take it off.”The soft rustle of her dress against her skin made my throat tighten. Kiana stood in front of me, her fingers twitching near the hem, her breath uneven. We were finally alone, really alone with no disturbance whatsoever. There were no tubes around me, no hospital smell, and no fear hanging over us. It was just us and our first night. With the look on her face, I was very sure that she had always been expecting this. She has waited all through to experience our first night today. "You heard me. Take it off, slowly."She let out a shaky laugh, biting her lip. That damn lip I kept thinking about even when I was on morphine. I watched her chest rise,
Chapter 36AIDENMy life snapped before my very eyes yet a low feminine and sweet voice kept ringing in my head. “If you die before I enjoy life with you, I will haunt your grave.”I woke up immediately and I kept remembering what sounded more like a voice. No, it was not a whisper, it was also not a prayer and not even a shaky breath of relief. It was all her voice and it was sharp, low and threatening. And god, I wanted to laugh except my lungs were screaming, and it felt like my ribs were stapled together with fire.“Damn,” I muttered, coughing through the blood in my mouth. “You sound mad.”Kiana hovered over me like a raging cloud. Her hands were clenched together and her jaw became tight. Her makeup was smudged and her eyes were red like she had been crying for hours but refused to break in front of anyone else.I understood that pain. “I am mad,” she snapped, raising her eyebrows in anger. “You made me a bride and almost made me a widow in less than twenty-four hours.”I smi
Chapter 35KIANA"You are marrying into hell, but I will walk through it first."Those were his words and those words stayed stuck in my throat long after he walked away. I knew that I had agreed to enter into this with him because I loved him but on a deeper level, that would be a lot of trouble for me. Those words of his were ones which burned more than the ring on my finger. The words that made me want to follow him into the flames just to make sure he made it out.But the worst part? He said it with a smile. Aiden smiled like he was not scared of anything. The cracking of guns, the blood, the cartel and the madness didn't touch him. He acted like he didn’t just find out someone put a price on my head. And that was Candice! She did it.She actually did it. “Tell me it’s not true,” I whispered, staring at her across the bridal suite. My hands were shaking and my body was cold. “Tell me you didn’t give them my location.”She just laughed at me, making me look like a fool.“I to
