The escape.

Kira looked around the big designated room she was taken to, a sharp scent of lavender overpowered her senses, putting a small smile on her face which immediately left as she looked around the room.

It looked girly and she hated anything girly. Although it was beautiful.

The walls were covered in brown, flowery wallpaper, containing beautiful painted portraits that were hung.

Some of it was a white big wolf, some were her pictures, and some were just random. It was obvious it happened to be a talent of the princess.

The bed wasn't modernized but it did look comfy with thick white and brown cases and the two huge cushions and throw pillows covered in floral-designed chestnut cases and beside it were bedside tables and beaded lampshades on the tables.

It was a square, well-designed room.

Her window has lush silk and heavy fabric with a rich, deep red and golden design color, draped by golden tassels and tiebacks.

By her right where she stood was the dressing table and gold-framed mirror, then a door leading to what seemed to be another room...definitely the bathroom.

By her left was the closet alone.

There were like two cast-iron gas lamps which could definitely be for lighting at night since there might not be electricity in this era. Wow.

It was also obvious that the lavender she was perceiving was from a scented candle which is nice.

She sighed wondering why she was mesmerized by the look of the room when hers was much better. Her room even has a view of the big city itself. Great to watch at night, the lights coming from the skyscrapers...it was perfect.

She walked toward the window and pushed the curtains aside, filling the room with the bright rays of the sun. She closed her eyes instinctively due to the sudden bright light and blinked a few times to adjust herself.

The palace was huge, filled with groups of maids walking around, doing one thing or the other, there were palace guards standing guard, and out of the large walls surrounding the perimeters which is covered in metallic wires, she could see distant trees. It made her assume that the palace was somewhere near or surrounded by forest.

Looking around, she pondered on how she was gonna escape. There seem to always be people walking around, especially the guards. It's gonna be something difficult but then, it's nothing she wouldn't be able to pull off. She should be smart enough to take on those guards and run for her dear life.

Or was she?

She sighed broodingly as she remembered Jason. Jason was the last person she ever thought will betray her and funnily, he was the last and the one capable of putting her protected life in danger.

After all, he was the one in control of her protection. The only one who could easily turn her securities to work against her.

She wondered what Griffin gave to him, or what threats he gave that made Jason easily betray her to the extent that she died. She was sure she treated him well as a boss should treat her subjects.

She let out a convicted sigh, believing she should be able to leave the palace. She just needs to be undetected.

She walked toward the closet wondering if she could find something to hide in. She looked around, searching for something simple but they were all serious long, corset gowns, all easily detectable.

She sighed, deciding to go for a white pajama gown with a black cloak she could hide in.

She wore it and walked toward her door, opening it and scanning the whole hallway, inwardly happy there was no one standing on guard in her room. She somehow expected that seeing as the princess literally committed suicide.

She tiptoed out of the room and down the stairs at her right, covering her face with the hood of the cloak with her head ducked.

Getting down the stairs, she lowered her gaze as she met some servants in the kitchen. They were so focused on what they were doing...like there was an important visitor on the way.

A thought came to mind so she walked among the servants and into the kitchen, a bit in awe at how they kept focused on cooking. It was the old-school way. Open flames for cooking or stoves. Wood fire or coal fire. Nothing modern....more work. It made her shake her head knowing what they were missing.

She picked an empty jar she found and as she was about to leave... "Where are you taking that to?" Someone asked.

Kara stopped in her tracks and cleared her throat. "To...get more spice."

"More spi..."

"Caroline, quickly help Sandy with the vegetables. We have to be fast!"

That was a save.

Kira immediately walked away, taking the distraction as a chance. She got to the big oak, already opened doors and walked out, hoping no one noticed who she was as she walked urgently, her mind fixated on the entrance out the perimeter.

Once she left the palace, she was sure she could think of what to do next. She can find a place, ask questions, and somehow she could find a way back to her home cause being a princess and getting married meant being trapped forever and she refused that life for herself.

She's an independent lady. She refuses her life to be controlled.

She arrived at the doorway and two spears crossed, blocking her path.

"What's your business outside and show yourself?" One of the guards ordered.

Kira swallowed, wanting to get her act right. "I'm just an ordinary servant..." She trailed, deepening her voice. "I'm out to get some spices we ran out of in the kitchen and it's extremely urgent." She said, raising the jar for them to see.

The guards looked at themselves for a while and nodded before straightening their spears. "Okay then. Be fast about it."

Kira nodded, opened the metallic door, and walked out of the house.

She raised her head up, heaving a huge breath of relief at the success. She was out of the palace, alas and it brought a smile to her face.

She looked to her left and couldn't find any escape path, she grazed her eyes at her front and the trees before dropping her gaze to her right. It was a bit far but she could see people down an open space. There seem to be a lot of them.

She sighed knowing it was going to be a long walk and she needed to brace herself for it.

She kept her cloak intact and walked toward there with a fastened pace, hoping they didn't yet realize their princess was missing.

She strained herself to walk further to get there but then her gaze met two horses clopping toward her path. It was a carriage led by a coachman. There was also another following behind like a convoy. She looked in awe as the horses rode toward her, it was confirming she really was in the Victorian century, a time that she never even dreamed to exist.

The window of the wagon opened, a man tilting his head at her but then she blinked and looked away deciding to continue with her mission to escape.

As she walked, the carriage immediately pulled to a halt. It was something she noticed so she began to fasten her pace since she was beginning to get uncomfortable.

All of a sudden, someone grabbed her hand and turned her around causing her eyes to widen in shock. It was the coachman. "What the hell?" She frowned. "What do you want? Did I obstruct your path?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow, getting all defensive.

She looked behind the coachman and saw a man whose long hair stopped at his shoulders walking toward them with squared shoulders, dressed handsomely, you could tell he was royal since his clothes were endowed with gold.

Even the convoy stopped and two men well dressed came out of it, surprised at what their eyes met.

The long-haired man narrowed his eyes at her like he was trying to study her. "Your face is familiar. I know you." His deep heart wrecking voice sounded.

Kira looked away, not wanting anyone to find her familiar. "I'm no one. Just a servant."

He kept looking at her, confusion enveloping his face. "You look like the person I was informed is dead. Princess Kara of Mey."

Kira cleared her throat and looked at him. "Yeah. I'm not princess Kara, I'm Kira and yes, the princess is dead..." She shook her head in acting. "So sad."

He took a step closer to her. "I'm not stupid and I won't condone any lie. A mere servant won't look like the Princess."

Kira took a step back, getting prepared to run but before she could turn, she was immediately caught by a guy, she wanted to throw her fist but the guy instinctively caught her fist and gave her a raised brow.

King Vermont sized her up with a slight frown written on his face. "Bring her with us."

The guy bowed and dragged struggling Kira with him.
