Kira gasped in shock as her corset was tightened further. Her face was contorted and her breathing seized as they dragged it once again. "God, damn it!" She snapped, causing the maidservant to pause.
"Uh?" The maidservant voiced out in confusion.Kira was finding it hard to breathe freely and she was feeling hot everywhere. "Geez. Is this…is this necessary?"The maidservant was confused. "My lady, you know that it's necessary. Besides, you need to look beautiful for your husband-to-be." She said and Kira could feel the smile in her voice.Kira scoffed and turned to look at her. "And who the hell are you? What's your name?" She asked, seeing as the girl seemed free toward her, especially for an ordinary maid.'She's your personal maid, Aryann. Also a good friend to Kara.' Cara disclosed.Aryann was shocked at the question and her eyes watery. "Are you…are you saying you don't remember me?"Kira blinked at her sudden transition and she answered since she hated anything awkward. "Don't mind me. For a moment, my mind just went blank, Aryann."Aryann breathed out in relief and nodded, "Let's completely dress you up so you can look elegant in front of King Vermont."Kira frowned as the thought of getting married bashed her head once again. She needed to escape again but how could she? Why did she even transmigrate to this century? She even wondered how Kara Mey was.She turned and allowed Aryann to keep tightening the corset. And she asked the voice in her head, 'So tell me, voice, did you know how Kara Mey was?''Correction, Ki--ra. My name is Cara and no I don't.'Kira sighed and she humphed as it was suddenly more tighter. "Okay, it's okay. Stop it right now!"Aryann stopped and tied it. Kira stood straight and stared at herself in the mirror and the navy blue and black corset and navy blue skirt which was adorned with numerous embroideries and trims, over layers of petticoats. She was finding it difficult to breathe and it was damn annoying and aggravating.'As the voice in her head, you should know how Kara is.' Kira retorted.'Well, I'm only going to answer you if you start addressing me by my name.'Kira rose a brow in stupefaction. 'Uh, even the voice in my head can be daring. She's got a choice, that's good.'"Let's go, my lady. King Vermont is waiting."Kira nodded and she walked out of her room. Getting out, she met four maidservants waiting for her with bowed heads but she just huffed and walked past them. Her skirt was disturbing her so she lifted it up, causing Aryann to gasp. "My lady! Please don't do that! That isn't the way you walk. It isn't the proper etiquette for walking." She yelled like Kira has done the worst thing ever.Kira turned to look at her like she heard the most stupid thing. "Not the proper etiquette for walking? The stupid skirt is disturbing. I'm aching all over." She complained, feeling annoyed."You can't curse, my lady. You're not allowed to say anything vile." Aryann warned. "So please, let go of your skirt, place both hands on your lower stomach, and keep your chin parallel to the ground."Kira kept a blank face at the way Aryann spoke to her. She scoffed and asked, "Did you just tell me what to do? I mean, aren't you a mere maid? Do I take orders from you?"Aryann was taken aback. She darted her eyes left and right in fear at the sudden change in her Princess and lowered her head in a curtsy. "Apologies, my lady. Those are just the royal etiquette that must be followed. I'm sorry if I offended you."Kira rolled her eyes away. She faced the stairs and began bounding off of it ruggedly. It scared Aryann but she just followed with the other maids behind her.Soon they arrived at the ravishing red dining hall with sash bow-shaped windows and floral red drapes, red walls, and an antique rug with wooden, red designated dining chairs and a wooden table having gorgeous craftsmanship.China Cabinets with ceiling medallions and a beautiful chandelier illuminated the room. Looking around, it did give a Victorian feeling and it was lovely. There were also kitchen maids standing in wait while some were placing the first course dishes prepared on the table.George who sat on the master seat saw that she just stood there looking around the room like a novice. He gave Arthur an awkward chuckle before saying with an audible voice, "Why are you still standing there, Princess Kara? King Vermont has been waiting for you."Kira's gaze landed on George and she inwardly scoffed before recklessly walking toward the table. A chair was pulled out for her and she sat down in front of Arthur who just stared at her.He could tell something wasn't right with her.She normally just appeared to him with an innocent but fake smile but this time, she seemed – indifferent. Giving him a nonchalant expression and attitude. She didn't even curtsy.Kira wondered why it was just Kara's father and King Vermont. She thought it was gonna be a family thing and come to think of it, no mother?'She has no mom. Her mom died when she was five.' Cara informed.Kira gaped. "Whoa." She silently said. She didn't have a mother either. Also a father.George cleared his throat. "So, in the next three days, we have decided you're getting married and taken to the Vermont kingdom."Kira sighed, not ready to hear anything about marriage but rather wanted to focus on the enticing food in front of her. Since it was a first-course meal, baked apples with pecans and cranberries were prepared. She smiled and looked at George. "Why don't we eat first? You and the King of Vermont have made your decision and I'm sure I can't change it so let's eat."George smiled and looked at Arthur. "Let's ea…" He noticed Arthur's peering gaze was on Kira so he looked and gasped as he saw she was already eating."Kara!" He warned. "What are you doing?!"Kira blinked, her mouth stuffed with food and she said, "Eating."George frowned and looked at Arthur awkwardly before looking back at Kira. "I'm sure you know the proper etiquette, Kara. You're supposed to wait for the king to eat before you do and you don't talk with a stuffed mouth."Kira gulped her food which went down hard so she took a glass of water and gulped it down. "Is that so? My bad."The stupid etiquette she was constantly hearing was beginning to irk her.George apologetically looked at Arthur and said, "My apologies, King Vermont. I think she's still having an after-effect on what happened to her."Arthur just forced a smile and looked back at Kira. "I think her brush with death got her extremely hungry so bring out the second-course meal so she can freely eat."Kira gave him a blank look, wondering what was going on in his head. "That's so nice of you, King Vermont." She looked back at the chef. "So what are you waiting for? Bring them out!'They all nodded and went to do as ordered.Even her voice seemed different and it bothered George. Hopefully, King Vermont won't change his mind.Soon after, a tray of baked egg casserole, garnished with sauteéd tomatoes and sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese arrived on the table. It was surprising to see they had wonderful food like this. Wow.And one thing she loved was food.It was sliced into squares, so they brought a square out and placed it on a plate in front of her. She nodded in satisfaction and began to eat, forgetting the warnings.Even her way of eating was wrong. Is she deliberately acting this way or was she really affected by what happened to her?As Arthur watched her, a small smile appeared on his lips like he was being amused by a comedy show. He didn't know she could be so…weird. It was new.And as she ate, a thought crossed her mind. What if someone found her and saved her? What if she's in a coma at the moment, waiting for her body to return to her?One thing for sure is she can't stay here. She has to leave and make everyone who wronged her pay dearly with their lives. And there was only one way that should definitely work. The lake.Kira smirked as she found a new will to perform. If she arrived in the nineteenth century by falling into a big river, then she could go back by falling into the lake just like the princess. Why the hell did she even try to commit suicide? What sort of stupidity is that? So unbelievable. If she hadn't committed suicide then she wouldn't have been here.'I think there could be a valid reason, Kira. Nothing happens without one.'Kira laughed. "Oh, look at the voice in my head. Feeling so smart. I guess you were probably the one who advised her to kill herself.''Don't get me wrong, Kira. Just think about it. You being here is abnormal enough except there has to be a purpose behind it.'"What stupid purpose, voice? Please stop acting so smart and let me think. I can't think with you disturbing my head..."The door to her room opened and her personal maid, Aryann entered with a big bowl of hot water. She looked around in confusion. "Uh, my lady, where you speaking to someone?"Kira looked
Kira sat still as she let the maids take care of her hair and face. Her stomach churned and her heartbeat increased with each passing second. She kept trying hard not to give in to the panic and anxiety threatening to hit her but it seems inevitable. She wasn't even scared of death but look at her shaking at the thought of getting married. 'No, it's not me.''It's you.' Cara countered.'It's not me.' Kira retorted.'It's you.' Cara argued.'No, it's not! I don't get scared this way. This is probably one of the perks of being in a body as fragile as this.' Kira countered.'Just admit it, Kira. You're scared.'Kira gritted her teeth in annoyance and saw that her makeup was fully done and her hair beautifully packed and endowed with hair pins. The princess is truly a beaut.Soon, the maid left and Aryann with a middle-aged woman dressed in royalty came into the room with her wedding dress and jewelry. She frowned at the crinoline Aryann was holding and she blinked after realizing once ag
Coming to the conclusion that it was now or never, Kara took in a deep breath and slowly began walking into the hall. Every step she took was followed by a painful heartbeat. She feared that her heart might burst out of her chest at the rate at which it was beating. She tried not to look at anyone even though she could feel all eyes on her. It was all weird. Being among strangers. It made her feel like she was all alone in the world. It's probably her punishment for every sin she committed in the past.George smiled at her as she got to him and then she was led to a seat. She was beginning to wish Aryann was beside her. She hated how she felt vulnerable. Everyone expected something from her and she hated it. She could only bow her head and keep thinking about her life. About how she could survive this marriage and plan her way out of the place. She was so lost in thoughts that everything around her went blank. A tap on her shoulder made her look up and distractedly utter, “Huh?“It wa
'Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you.'Seeing his hand wrapped around hers, Kara raised her head up to look up at him. The height difference almost caused her tiara to fall off her head, so she quickly broke free of his hold to fix it.“What are you doing?“ She heard a question. It was from a female voice who looked young.“Fixing… this thi…thing on my…head.“ She replied, getting annoyed at the fact that it refused to stay.“You were supposed to talk about your virtue.“ Kars heard again causing her to look at the girl talking. She looked at the teenage girl sitting on the chair besides where King Vermont was sitting. She almost did a double-take as she saw how stunning the girl was. She was dressed like a princess and had some resemblance to King Vermont. Then she remembered what the girl said, annoyed that all the confused faces around her were still waiting for her to recite her virtues. What the hell does virtuous recitation mean?God, the middle ages were damn weird! So, she stutter
“Now the princess will entertain the guests and her husband with a special performance!“ She heard Madame Sharon announce.WHAT THE WHA?!!!What did she just hear?Entertain her husband and the guests?! Special performance? She turned to look at Aryann who was giving her a worried look and then she blinked as she wondered what to do.She was going to ask what entertainment meant but she figured out that it should be the same everywhere. And since the was the one performing, she can do whatever she wants to do.Her mouth curled up in a smirk and she began tapping her feet. She looked at Arthur with a pleased expression and announced, “Give me a beat.“ Then she looked away, while everyone looked at her in confusion as they pondered on why she was asking for a beat all of a sudden.“Why do you need a beat?“ The king asked in a quiet voice while shifting uncomfortably in his seat. Was his daughter deliberately trying to ruin the wedding so King Vermont wouldn't have to marry her? Why is th
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!!“'Thank Goddess, someone can finally see that.“ Uther said.'Shut up.' Arthur dismissed him.A middle-aged man hit a table in front of him and stood up in anger. The man looked at some guards and ordered in anger, “Get that girl out of here now!!“Guards immediately dragged Mona out of the hall. Then the man toward his angry gaze back to Kira. “And you? What nonsense have you been doing in front of us? What stupidity was all that?!“Kira frowned at the insult and she scoffed with her hands placed on her waist and her hips jutted out as if she was striking a pose. “Stupidity? I'm entertaining everyone as required but you dare call it stupidity?“She was furious that the man dare insult her effort.'Did that girl just question your uncle?' Uther asked, not sure he heard right.Arthur just kept quiet. The man huffed and replied, “Entertaining? You're calling your rubbish singing entertaining?“Kira gave him a blank look that tells that she was getting f
Kira collapsed on her bed with her arms and legs spread like an eagle. She didn't know weddings could be so exhausting. She was so tired and everywhere was hurting. She needed to rest but first, she's gonna have to take off everything she was wearing. The uncomfortable crinoline and the corset that was making it hard for her to breathe. She wanted to get up but she felt too lazy to do so. She groaned and muttered to herself, “This wedding should be called the wedding of the century.“Then she sat up at the thought, her eyes darting left and right. 'Maybe when I go back, I could really see it in history.'She chuckled like a crazy person. “Whoa! Unbelievable! Then I should start doing iconic things, ah?“Then her door suddenly opened and she saw Madame Sharon enter with Aryann.“Oh, my lady, are you okay?“ Aryann worriedly asked, almost in tears. You could tell how much she cared about the princess.Kira gave her a dull look as she kept going on and on about how she was scared when the
“Then who gave the food to you?“Kira looked at George and was suddenly engulfed in thought. She took her mind back to the morning and remembered Madame Sharon offering food for her anxiety. Who does that? Food even makes things worse. That fruit salad was the cause of everything. If she had eaten it, then she would have become a complete mad woman.'Oh, thank you, Mona. Gosh, you saved my life from that embarrassment!'King Arthur and King George gave her a look like she was crazy.'You just said that out loud.''Uh?''You just said that out loud.' Cara repeated.Kira looked at the two kings and chuckled awkwardly. “I just said that out loud, didn't I? Well, I'm sure you'll agree that it's better she than me.“'Oh! She's a selfish one. Intriguing.' Uther remarked.Arthur looked away from her with a sigh. He was still confused about her sudden change of attitude. She was a reckless one, like someone lacking guidance in anything. She wasn't acting like a princess. When he saw her then
