“Hope, oh my gosh, we missed you!”
“Yeah, girl. Where have you been?”
“Just…here and there.” I can hear the hesitation on her voice as she lied to her friends. She hated lying, even with the smallest things. I told her that I told her friends she went on a vacation. If it were me I would have said I had gone on a tour in Europe to search for myself, made up stories along the way. Say anything necessary to make my false story more believable. But Hope isn’t a liar like me. Giving a vague answer is the most she could do. In the end, it’s all up to interpretation.
“By the way, you missed classes for a week, won’t you get in trouble for that?”
