Chapter 9

She stared off into the darkness blankly, it was past midnight. She glanced at the door back. She was looking in the same direction after every ten minutes and found no one standing there. She took a deep breath and pressed her head against the couch head.

'He should come. What's taking him so long? Is there another attack? I would have known from the guards outside of the door. '

She shuddered at the thought of a knife piercing through her delicate skin.

The door opened softly. Her head jerked at the door, alarmingly. He slanted a look at her. His brows furrowed, "Why are you up? It's too late." His voice was crude.

"I didn't notice. I was just worried... " She trailed.

His expression was steeled, " Worried!" He snorted, "Or waiting for my death news," He smirked.

Her body shivered with the intensity of his sarcasm, "I would never want this. You know that," She retorted immediately, her eyes widened with shock. Sadness engulfed her
