The Mafia's Angel

Xavier never imagined that a time like this would come. A time when he would beg for mercy, it had always been the other way around. Now Xavier stood alone in the midst of the Spanish Mafia Leader-Mateo and his men, begging for his sister’s life to be spared.

“How do you feel when your loved one is taken from you?” Mateo asked, his Spanish accent prominent.

There was no response from Xavier.

"How do you feel?!” Mateo asked again more venomously.

“Please, don’t do this” Xavier begged for the first time in his life, “Please, I would give you whatever you want” he said to Mateo who smirked back sadistically.

“You cannot give me what I already have,” Mateo replied, his grip on Nessa’s hair tightened and Nessa cried out in pain.

Xavier raised his both hands, surrendering to the Spanish Mafia, he threw his gun far from his reach as an act of surrender.

“Please, kill me instead, Just let her go” he pleaded again, his once steady powerful voice was gone and his voice sounded to him like a weak teenager.

Mateo considered him, eyeing him from head to toe, then he brought out a pocket knife from his belt and placed it on Nessa’s throat drawing a thin line of blood, she screamed more, tears falling down her eyes in fresh waves. Xavier was prepared to do anything to see his baby Nessa far away from this place.

“Don’t” Xavier begged.

To his greatest surprise, Mateo pulled the knife from his little sister’s throat and whispered into her ears “Run”.

Xavier was shocked as he saw his sister running back to him, he should have suspected a foul play but his desperation took the best of him and he ran to his sister, maybe if he could just reach her, maybe he could protect her. Nessa’s thick black hair was ruffled by the wind and flew in all directions as she ran to him, they were so close, he could almost touch her....then there was a gunshot.

It was like a dream as Xavier watched Nessa his little sister fall to the floor, everything was going so fast, a minute ago...some seconds ago she was alive and moving and now she was not.

“No!!!!!” Xavier screamed as he rushed to his sister who was now on the floor, a puddle of blood forming around her body, her mouth slightly open, her eyes staring upwards.

“Please Nessa, Please!!!” he screamed but it was too late. Once again he had been the cause of his family member’s death, once again he had loved and it was taken away from him. Love truly was pain.
