Gianna

“Why did you kill Dolcezza?”

I think I forgot how to breathe or move. My legs felt frozen and stuck to the ground. My guards were waiting outside. I just needed to scream or run. But somehow, strength has left my body completely.

"I know you did it," Maximus whispered, his voice laced with the tinge of betrayal. "I saw it, and now I want to know why?" I still couldn't find the strength to turn around even as I felt him standing behind me, his alcohol-laced breath fanning my neck.

"I could have told the Carabinieri, but I didn't," Maximus continued. "I removed the footage and the camera that captured it, and yes...there was a secret camera in one of my books on the shelf. It's a very high-quality camera with night vision, and the footage is private only for me, being stored on my phone. The moment the officers left, I checked in there and...saw it all."

Note: I will be posting the next update after this on Saturday because I am still writing the ending chapters and need a bit of time to set the sequence of the next chapters. Gianna3 days laterIt had been three days since that day, and still, my mind hadn’t caught up. Everything had happened too fast, too violently, too painfully, and my body had kept moving through it like a ghost. Now I stood before Maximus’s coffin, staring at the polished wood gleaming under the pale light. It felt unreal. All of it. The heavy scent of lilies and incense clung to the air, mixing with the faint chill of the church.Leo stood on one side, shoulders rigid, jaw clenched. His eyes were red, though I knew he would never admit to crying. Xavier was beside him, his arm slowly starting to heal after the doctor

Song: “Unsteady (Erich Lee Gravity Remix)” – X Ambassadors GiannaI couldn’t comprehend what had just happened. Everything had moved too fast. One moment, I was running to save Nico, and the next, Maximus was wrapped around me, his blood soaking through my dress and my hands. My hands trembled as I tried to hold him, but his body was growing heavier by the second. He sagged against me, and we both nearly toppled to the floor. I somehow managed to lower him down, my arms shaking, my heart pounding so hard it hurt. I settled his head in my lap, brushing his hair back with trembling fingers. There was so much blood. Too much. It wouldn’t stop, no matter how I pressed against the wound. His breathing came in shallow gasps, each one weaker than the last. His eyes were barely open, glazed with pain, but still searching for me.&nbs

GiannaEvery head turned toward the sound. Including Nico’s.And I blinked.Maximus stood at the door, his face dark as thunder.Maximus.Was this all his plan? But judging from Drago’s words—and that expression—it didn’t look like it.“Perfect. Always at the wrong time,” Massimo muttered under his breath.Maximus stalked forward, his eyes darting towards me first, scanning as if to make sure I was still breathing, before locking on Nico. Nico threw him a glare, but Maximus’s gaze slid right past him and landed on Drago. His entire face hardened.“What the fuck are you doing?” he demanded, voice rough, eyes wide. “Have you lost your mind, Father?”“I’m doing what you should&rsquo

GiannaMy head was pounding like someone had taken a hammer to it. Every thud felt like an explosion behind my eyes. For a long, heavy moment, I couldn’t even tell if I was awake or dreaming — the darkness was that complete. When I finally blinked my eyes open, it was pitch black around me. The air felt damp, metallic, and cold, thick with the smell of rust and something burnt. My vision was blurred, and when I tried to move, pain tore through different parts of my body — sharp, biting pain that made me wince. Something warm trickled down my forehead. Blood.I forced myself to breathe, slow and shallow. My surroundings started to take shape in fragments — the faint hum of machinery, a flickering light far in the distance, shadows shifting across concrete walls. It looked like some kind of warehouse. Big. Empty. Cold. And then—“Ah, finally.” The voice was low, familiar, and chillingly calm. My heart skipped.I turned my head toward the sound, but even that simple movement made me groa

"To take charge of the Barbaro throne when he steps down and to hand him...Sicily," Maximus finished."So that's why you came here..." I whispered. "To destroy Nico and even my family, because Sicily is dominated by both Baldocchi and Ammassari..." Maximus gazed up at me, and there was a tinge of guilt in there as he shook his head."Nico, yes..." he nodded. "But not your family. I have never wanted to hurt anyone you loved, and I know how much your brothers mean to you. I never intended to hurt Leo and Xavier despite what Drago wanted.""But I loved Nico too!" I snapped, tears almost blurring him. "I loved him, Maximus! He is my husband, the father of my child! You knew that...you always knew that!""And that's why I wanted him dead!" Maximus snapped back, glaring at me. "That's why I wanted him gone for good because you loved him. Because he had you, just like everything else that I deserved. Everything that should have been rightfully mine was his. He was raised as the Baldocchi he
