Rin’s POV

It was suddenly too quiet in the warehouse. The hybrids had taken up residence in the darkness, watching me with dim gold light in their eyes. Their heads turned with each stride I made. Their chests rose in time with each breath I inhaled.

I detested it.

I had to know, though.

Broken crates were placed at the far end of the facility, and I walked there. My pulse was racing as I clutched the edge of one, my hands shaking. I reminded myself that it was only a test.

I raised.

The wood splintered and cracked beneath my fingers. A surge of fire blazed through my arms, and then the whole crate was in the air. I tossed it across the room, and it exploded into pieces when it crashed into the wall.

Upon stirring, the hybrids let out growls of approval.

Sweat was streaming down my temple as I tightened my teeth. With strength I shouldn't have, my body throbbed. When I sprinted the length of the room, my legs carried me faster than I intended. Like fabric, my claws tore through metal.

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   The Safehouse Prison

Rin’s POVI pulled hard, the clinking echo resonating off the stone walls as the chains bit my wrists once more. I didn't care that the metal scorched my skin. I desired their removal. I desired his departure."Give me a break!" My voice was rough as I yelled. "I can't stay here like some pet you're scared of losing."With his arms folded and his golden eyes gleaming dimly in the low light, Thorne stood at the door. I was furious, but he didn't even bat an eye. Like I was merely a tempest he had chosen to weather, he regarded me calmly. He said quietly, but there was grit in his voice, "Rin, you'll only hurt yourself more." The chains are not going to break. They were made for wolves that are more powerful than you."More powerful than me?" Sweat trickled down my face as I spat and panted. "You believe you are aware of my strength? Do you believe that shackling me demonstrates anything? Thorne, you're pathetic. A coward who fears losing authority. At last, the word "coward" broke his

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   Love's Chains.

Rin’s POVHands shaking, I pushed myself to breathe. "This is poison if that's what you call love.""Toxin? Thorne laughed softly and without humour. Let me be poison, then. Allow me to be the disaster you despise. Since I would rather destroy you than lose you.A sharp squeezing went through my chest. "You're scared to let me go, so you can't just bind me! "He growled and took a step forward, his eyes brightening. "Yes, I can," he said. "Because I own you." Furthermore, I don't give a damn whether the Council wants you. If the mafia places a price on your head, I don't care. They'll take you away from me instead of my body."My life is not up to you to decide! I yelled and gave him a strong shove. He remained motionless as my claws tore his shirt as they raked his chest. He just looked at me, unfazed. He spoke in a serene, frightfully serene tone. Instead of watching you fall into their clutches, I'd rather shackle you. Instead of never hearing your voice again, I would rather hear

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   Assassin’s Promise.

Rin’s POVFirst came the knife. It buried itself in the wooden doorframe and whistled passed my ear.Without thinking, my heart pounded in my chest as I slid low. The smell of death, sweat, and metal changed the air.Assassins.Another blade sliced across my sleeve as I rolled to the side. Hot blood trickled down my arm, stinging from the skin opening."Cowards! With my claws flashing loose, I growled. I glanced at the shadows, three of them, moving quickly, masks covering their faces. One of them lunged. With my claws ripping fabric but lacking flesh, I turned, barely avoiding. Inside of me, my wolf howled, demanding that I battle and kill. All I could think, though, was that they were there to support me.Not for gold. Not for blood. For me.Before another blow hit, I saw the glimmer of poison on the edge of a sword. I felt sick to my stomach. I hadn't been brought in alive by them. To make sure I didn't breathe again, they came.Despite their proficiency, the assassins' scent contr

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   Weapons Wanted

Rin’s POVThe world wasn't silent. It never does.Whispers started to circulate within Verano before I had even recovered from the bondfire. In pubs, alleys, and the secret-sharing dens on the underground market, people called me by name. They referred to me as "Subject Zero.""The Chimaera Wolf.""The weapon that broke the leash of the Council."I was watched by eyes everywhere I went. Wolves' mouths curled in fear or desire as they stared for too long. Rumours about a monster that was neither Alpha nor Omega, but something in between, had even reached the human world.I walked the congested streets with my hood pressed lower. I could still hear the hiss of voices even if my scent was hidden."That's him.""More powerful than an Alpha.""They say a new order can be bred by his blood."I felt sick to my stomach.I wanted to shout that I hadn't chosen this and that I wasn't their weapon. However, nobody would pay attention. I was power walking on two legs in their eyes. And there was a

Rin’s POVWhen the relationship broke, the flames continued. It only got more powerful.Curling up into the floor and burying my nails into the wood, I let out a scream. Every muscle in my body screamed, every nerve searing. Thorne's presence filled every nook and cranny of me as the bond tore me apart like a wildfire.I smelled him more strongly than ever, raw and wild, domineering. It penetrated every thought, slid into my lungs, and encircled my heart. I was unable to push it out. I was powerless to resist."No—no, I can't" My body trembled once again, and my voice broke."Rin." He spoke in a gruff, frantic voice. "Take a breath. Wait a moment.I growled and twisted, but the flames just grew. My inner wolf, screaming with delight at the bond's release, clawed at me from within. I wasn't happy, though. I was afraid."Take it out!" With tears hurting my eyes, I yelled. "This is not what I want!""You do," Thorne snarled in a thunderous voice. It's what your wolf desires. Give up figh

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   The Awakening Bond

Rin’s POVMy tongue still ached from the words I had uttered: We were already mated.Thorne remained unflinching. He didn't dispute it. All he did was stare at me as if he had been waiting for me to remember for years. No confession could have overshadowed his quiet. At last, he made a move. Slow, methodical, as though one mistake may break me to pieces. His voice was steady, heavy, and low."You see it at last," he remarked. My chest constricted. "So it's true?"He said, "It's always been true," and his eyes were raw with emotion rather than a mask or a smile. We were bound by that night. It was sworn in blood by our wolves. It could not be broken. It's not the time. The Council, no. Not even your denial. With my heart thumping so painfully, I staggered back. "You were aware?""Yes."It was as simple as a knife. I balled my hands into fists. "All this time? I was running, resisting this, loathing you""I knew," he interrupted in a harsh voice. I carried it by myself. Because it would
