Dave’s POV

I tried not to touch or lick my lips as I ruffled my hair, trying to understand what had just happened.

Was this her new way of punishing me? I wondered.

The more I tried not to think about it, not to remember the feelings I felt the moment her lips touched mine, the more difficult it was. Suddenly, a familiar knock came on the door and jolted me out of my misery.

Jeff walked in, and I tried to adjust my hair while taking my seat and relaxing back in the chair. I kept a straight face as I tried to push it all away, and that must have made me look even scarier.

“What did you find out?” I asked.

Jeff stepped forward. “The Marinos are two-timing us,” he reported.

I frowned.

“It seemed they are not satisfied with our terms. They got another offer,” he replied.

My hands clenched hard on the table. “Joseph Castillo,” I grunted.

He’s back, and the first thing he did was attack Celine. Looks like he took my bait after all and showed himself.

“Boss, how do you intend to deal with the Marinos?” Jeff asked.

I relaxed a little and thought for a second. The Marinos are proud; they probably did not want to bow to me.

Fine, I will just wipe them out.

“We need to play their games,” I let out, a dangerous smirk playing at the corner of my lips.

Jeff nodded knowingly.

Now, the first thing is to ensure Celine’s safety. These days, she seemed too possessive of me. It would definitely ruin my plan with Sabrina and the Marinos.

I need to send her away, for her own protection.

“Celine’s birthday party is in a week,” I suddenly let out. Jeff paused and looked at me before giving a nod.

“I have made every preparation. It would be the best party of the year,” he answered.

I shook my head. “Not that.” I swallowed as I looked up.

“Celine needs to disappear that night,” I told him.

Jeff stared at me, perplexed, but I didn’t explain myself further.

All these years, I have always kept her close, believing that was the only way to keep her safe. I’ve spoiled and cared so much for her because I felt guilty; I felt responsible for her parents’ death.

But now, it seemed that had backfired. If Celine indeed has feelings for me, I need to cut it off before it grows further.

This was the only way, I assured myself, although my heart ached at the thought of hurting her little heart.

Celine’s POV

I stared at the pictures and was not satisfied with any of the dresses.

“Is this all you have?” I asked, feeling annoyed already.

The manager shook his head and quickly showed me another collection.

Again, I glanced at them. None of them looked good enough for my eighteenth birthday party.

In anger, I slapped the tablet down and grunted as I got up. Everyone in the room bowed their heads, afraid I was going to lose it, but I couldn’t even be bothered by them.

My mind is going crazy thinking about that kiss with Dave. He has completely refused to see me.

I clenched my fists as I thought about it, not aware that my actions had caused panic in the hearts of the people around me. When I turned to them, they all flinched and pushed back.

Only then did I realize my actions had caused them to be afraid.

The last time one of the attendants offended me, I had cried to Dave, who practically pulled a gun at her head. I bit my lips as I slowly sat back down and asked for the tablet again.

As the manager stretched the tablet to me, someone burst into the space, and I raised my head with a hard frown. Sabrina strolled into the mall, with two of her friends beside her.

I jumped up instantly and walked up to stop her.

“What are you doing here?” I crossed my arms against my chest.

Sabrina let out a low smirk. “Looks like Dave did not inform you. He asked me to come pick a dress here.”

I squeezed my face, like I didn’t understand what she had just said. Then, I burst into a deliberate, low laugh.

“Are you serious? Dave would never,” I answered firmly.

She stepped forward instead. “Too bad. He did.”

My frown grew harder until my face hurt. I picked up my phone to call Dave, but he didn’t pick my calls. I turned to the manager, who looked conflicted now.

“Did you book someone else on my time?” I asked sharply, getting furious.

The manager wiped his sweat off with his palm. “Mr. Montessori booked the place for both you and Miss Marino,” he answered.

“What?!” I yelled out, deafeningly.

I turned to Sabrina, and she was holding a big smirk on her face, mocking me. She brushed past me and took the seat with her friends, who literally pushed me out of the way.

They settled down on the chair and snatched the tablet from the manager, who looked at me shakily. I bit my lips as I watched Sabrina swipe through the dresses, picking what was mine.

“I will have this, and my friends will have what they want too,” she said to the manager, then she turned to me with a sneer.

“You can pick the remnants, Celine,” she said.

I glared at her and scoffed hard, not believing this was happening. Not wanting to spend another second in the same space with her, I took my purse and walked out of the room.

As I made my way out, I kept calling Dave, but he wouldn’t pick up. At a point, I almost threw my phone away because right now, it was useless.

When I couldn’t get to him, I decided to call the people I could get to at any time.

In less than ten minutes, Stephen’s black sports car appeared in front of me. But now, I was raging. He got down and walked up to me.

“Why did you need my car?” he asked.

I snatched the car key from his hand and walked to the car. He followed after me quickly, worried I was about to do something crazy.

“Can you please tell me what you are about to do?” Stephen pleaded.

I turned to him with blazing eyes. “I’m going to crash this car with me in it,” I answered.

Stephen stared at me like I had lost my mind.

Yes, I have. And this was all Dave’s fault. He had the guts to let his fiancée invade my private mall and even dared to ignore my calls.

Dave Montessori, I am going to make you regret this.
