ANMELDENDave's POV
I lost myself in a moment, being too close to her. I clenched the hand bracing against the back of the chair. Her eyes searched my face, waiting. My eyes moved over her slowly, taking in the rise and fall of her chest, the way her lips parted when my gaze dropped on them. I stared at them a beat too long. I can't believe I was actually thinking of pinning her down and kissing her. My thumb moved, just slightly, tracing the curve of her hip through the fabric of her dress. I tried to stop myself, reminding myself who was in front of me. I swallowed hard. She didn't pull away, rather she leaned a fraction closer, her fingers curling loosely into the front of my shirt. "Dave?" she started, breathless. Heat coiled through me, I dragged my gaze back up to her eyes, my jaw tightened, fighting the urge to hold onto her. Slowly, I let my forehead drop to rest against hers, taking a sharp breath in to stop myself from doing something I couldn't take back. "Go to your room, lock the door," I instructed as I pulled away from her. She stayed still, looking conflicted. I hated myself for daring to think of her in such a lustful way, but I couldn't help it. If I let her stay a minute longer, I might lose myself. I gazed at her, but she was still there with no intention of leaving. My breaths came out heavily as I clenched my jaw, trying to ease myself. "Didn't you hear…" I wanted to scold, but she cut me short. "Why are you here?" she asked suddenly. The question caught me off-guard, I parted my lips to answer but couldn't find a word. What should I tell her? That I missed her so much I was losing my mind, that I regretted ever hurting her and sending her away. That would ruin everything. I swallowed hard. "I'm on business," I lied. Her face shifted instantly, she looked angry. Immediately, she got up, her brows squeezed together. "What?!" she half-yelled. "You're not here for me?" There was hurt in her voice when she said that. I realized my answer might be too harsh, so I decided to tell the truth, but before I could speak, she did. "I should have known. You abandoned me, why would you want me back?" "That's not true," I reached out, but she slapped my hand away. She tried to walk past me and I grabbed her wrist, knowing where she was going. "You're not allowed to leave," I said, my voice firm. Her eyes turned to me with a glare, cussing. She clenched for a second before wrenching out of my grip and turned toward the room. The door slammed shut with a loud bang. I gave a low exhale, rubbing my temple a little. I had just made things worse. The plan was to make her forgive me, but I kept upsetting her even more. There's no way she would hear me out now or forgive me. My phone rang and I took it out of my pocket, my expression returned to its usual coldness. "Boss, I found out something about Miss Celine's boyfriend" The word boyfriend made my jaw tighten. I placed a hand in my pocket. "What is it?" I asked "He's not who he claimed to be. And it seemed he's working for someone" My face squeezed up at that. Atlantic City was supposed to be safe for her, no one should know she was there. But maybe I underestimated my enemies. If Celine was being watched that closely, then I cannot keep her here any longer. "Find out everything about him and his family. I need the information in front of me in two hours," I said and ended the call. I fell back into the chair and let out a hard exhale, rubbing my temple hard now. If I tell Celine about her little boyfriend, she would not believe me and would think I was lying to make her break up with him. My gaze moved to the room where she was and I heard a loud angry scream, then the sound of punching the pillows. Looks like after two years, she hasn't changed a bit. — **Celine's POV** That bastard! I cussed him again. I thought he was here for me. I thought he regretted sending me away and was here to take me back, but he wasn't. How cruel could he be? And now he's trying to control my life, to take away my freedom. No, I will not allow that. I picked up a pillow and screamed angrily into it, then I punched it hard, venting my anger on the poor thing. Then, I thought of the best way to get back at him. My eyes dashed around the room, looking for a way to escape. But I paused, realizing something. The room seemed surprisingly familiar. Everything was exactly the same as my room back in Besley. It felt like my old room had been brought back to me. I got up and moved to check the closet. It was the same, except for the different clothes there. A beautiful painting that I had pestered Dave to buy for me in my first auction date with him was hanging on the wall. Back then, I had told him I wanted it only for my eyes. He had dismissed my request, saying art should be seen and appreciated, but I was talking about him. I walked into the bathroom also and it was decorated just the same way, almost like he had planned for me to move here. I didn't know whether to be happy he knew every little detail about me or be sad that he might have planned the idea of chasing me away from his side a long time ago. As I stared at the bathtub, my body lowered and I touched the edge. A memory cut through my mind, the way Dave had stared at me. I recalled the feel of his hand on my waist as he pushed me down against the chair, the sound of his hard breaths while he leaned closer. For a second there, I thought he was going to kiss me. I wanted to pull him closer and grab his lips, never let go. But then, he let go. He restrained himself again. It was so obvious he was trying not to. But despite his attempt to deny it, I could feel he wanted me, just as I wanted him.Celine's POVFaye grabbed my glass and glared at me."Boss will kill me if you go back home drunk," she said.I scoffed, and pushed her hand off."Don't be uncool now," I took a mouthful of the drink. It's sweet, yet intoxicating. Just like how Dave's lips tasted.I wanted to drink more, but Faye stopped me again."You can have fun without getting drunk," she said.I sighed and tried to grab the drink away, but she beat me to it and drank it down.A little chuckle left my lips. I rested my hand on the table and my face on my palm."You know, I didn't like you at first," I blurted. "I thought you'd be another Sabrina.""That bitch," I cussed, heat rising on my face in hate as I thought of her.Faye poured herself another drink. "She really is."My eyes flashed up hearing her agree with me. A happy chuckle escaped me as I lifted my head up."You think so too? Annoyingly, Dave didn't think that."I said, my face turning blue. The moment was interrupted by Tyra, who appeared with three gu
Celine's POVI pulled at Dave's arm to stop him, but he was just too stubborn. He had insisted on walking me right to the classroom. I looked frantically around as a few students glanced in our direction, murmuring as they walked past. When we got to the classroom, he let go of my hand and turned to me. "Faye will be waiting for you. Don't go anywhere else," he said.I wanted to refuse, but I nodded. The lecturer was coming in now. I pulled away from him and hurried into class. I found Tyra and quickly sat beside her, my gaze shifting to the door, Dave was still standing there.I noticed the attention he was getting without even making an effort, and a jealous frown crept onto my face. Then I decided to do something, to show that he was already mine.I looked in his direction and blew a hard, loud kiss at him before giving a flirtatious wink. That caught everyone's attention and they all turned to me; some immediately wore an upset expression while others became jealous."Girl, you're
Celine's POVI continued to walk ahead and Faye followed behind. When I saw that she was close enough, I halted suddenly and turned to confront her."I have to go this way," Faye spoke before I could.I blinked, surprised. She didn't wait, and turned to the left and began to walk away. Was I wrong? I scrunched up my face. Did he really let me go without a guard? I should feel good, but crazily, I felt upset.Just as I stomped my feet and was about to continue, Ethan suddenly appeared. I almost jumped backward, a frown invading my expression. Before I could think to scream, the boys with him charged forward and covered my mouth. They dragged me with them and stopped at a secluded place, throwing me against the wall."We meet again," Ethan said, moving forward. My feet shifted back slowly, watching my steps and looking for a direction to escape. "Unfortunately," I muttered. He chuckled, the sound making my face scowl harder."You still owe me, Celine Sawyer," his voice turned hostile ag
Dave's POVThe moment Celine walked back inside, I turned to Faye."She doesn't seem to like you."Faye lifted her head and walked closer, standing beside Jeff."It will take time, but I will charm her soon," she replied.I nodded.Knowing how much Celine hates bodyguards, I needed a way to keep one closely by her side."Make sure she doesn't suspect anything," I added, and turned to Jeff.He handed me the report for the monthly data of our businesses in Atlantic City. The numbers were a bit disturbing, I might as well deal with that while I'm here.I still had my eyes focused on the screen when Celine walked back out.I moved to set down the tablet, glancing at her when my eyes caught what she was wearing. I stopped halfway. My eyes trailed from the curve of her shoulder down to the sway of the fabric against her waist.Heat crept up my neck and my throat felt dry, my hand tightened around the phone and I straightened. She put on a smile the second our gazes caught, a sweet, innocent
Dave's POVFuck! I really want to kiss her right now.The clothes she's wearing, I could see her body. The soft delicate skin seemed to glow the more I stared at her.I clutched my hand that rested against the dresser and tried to keep a hard expression to conceal what I was actually feeling."You can get angry at me, but never lock me out," I warned, staring in between her eyes. Her jaw tightened in anger as she tried to turn away from me again. I stopped her, yet my gaze flipped just for a second to her neck. That would be crazy, I told myself, but then I leaned down before I could stop myself and my lips crashed against her soft skin.I gave her a bite, restraining myself from actually tasting her. She seemed shocked and stiff for a moment, but she didn't stop me.That made me greedy for more. I lost control in the blink of an eye, and my grip tightened around her chin as I tilted her head a little for better access.I bit a little too hard and she let out a cry. I paused for a sec
Celine's POVBefore I could get a word out, he threw me over his shoulder. "Dave!" I yelled, punching his back. He didn't stop, nor did he let go.He took me to the car and threw me inside like I weighed nothing. I let out a grunt, just to deceive him, to make him think I was hurt, and that worked. He halted and moved closer.I ran a slap across his face immediately, breathing hard. "Stop trying to control my life," I bellowed.Dave clenched his jaw; he looked furious, but I didn't care. All I cared about was that he'd scared Max away, that he'd ruined my normal life. Now Max was going to spread rumors, and everyone would stay away from me again."What was that for?" he turned to me, jaw tightened."For scaring my boyfriend away. You have no right," I yelled at him.He moved fast and got into the car, forcing me to move in. His hands gripped the door behind me, and he glared into my eyes."Do you know your so-called boyfriend was sent to monitor you?"I paused for a second, searching
