Elena’s POV

As much as I struggled with them to free me, they refused to let me go. Instead, I was dragged back to the room he had locked me up earlier, like a disobedient dog.

My feet’s were scraping against the cold floor, and we soon arrived back in the room I escaped from. I was thrown on the bed and I landed with a soft thud. The door slammed shut behind them, and I was left alone again.

I trembled as what I had witnessed minutes ago crossed my mind. I stared at the ceiling as the memory enveloped me, I know Dominic was one brutal soul, but witnessing him actually kill someone without sympathy as if it were his daily routine was a show that will never leave my mind easily.

Those cold words of his still echoed in my mind. “You shouldn't have seen that.” he'd muttered with a nonchalant expression as if it meant nothing.

Seen what? The fucking brutally? The ruthlessness? The truth? Could that be my fate here as well? What if he decides to kill me too? The questions stormed my mind as I recalled what I've seen.

I don't think I would ever be able to escape from Dominic, except he decides to let me go himself and I doubt that's ever going to happen because I know my father, he would never be able to provide that money, let alone use it to pay Dominic for my freedom.

Tears streamed down my Face as the thought of what my father had done to me enveloped me, he was never for once on my side, but I never imagined he would give me up just like that without hesitation to a man who was this brutal, a man that could take someone's life and act like it's nothing, like nothing actually happened.

“I should be more careful around here if I want to live,” I whispered amidst tears to myself.

I didn't exactly know how long I was lost in thoughts, but the sound of approaching footsteps brought me back to reality. In a few seconds, the footsteps stopped at the door. The clock clicked, and the door creaked open. Speaking of the devil, there he was, standing in the doorway staring at me with those cold eyes and brutal expression that sent shivers down my spine.

“You’re quite the curious one, isn't you?” He asked with a grim expression on his face.

I didn't respond, I couldn't even if I wanted to, I seemed to have lost my ability to speak, and I just stared at him, trying to read his expression. What could he possibly want with me? Is he planning on doing something nasty or crazy to me?

No… I'm just overthinking the situation am in, he won't do that. “He would if it pleases him,” a tiny voice in my head spoke and I froze. I could help but hope he doesn't have any bad intentions towards me.

Dominic walked into the room, his movements fueled with pride and supremacy. He sat down on the bed beside me, his weight causing the mattress to dip.

“You know what Baby girl?,” he continued, his eyes glinting in the dim light. “Curiosity would get you killed if you aren't careful, and I don't intend to do so to you, at least not yet,”

Not yet? What the fuck does he mean by not yet? He could eventually kill me one day? I swallowed hard, my throat was dry. I tried to speak, but I couldn't. I guess I still haven't recovered from the shock of the murder scene I witnessed.

He didn't seem to care as I didn't respond, he stared at the room and his eyes soon landed on the window that was slightly open. “Oh…. That must be where the baby girl tried escaping from,” he said with a mockery tone in his voice.

Then he turned to me with a more serious tone and expression he leaned closer and whispered into my ears, “Look, I hate stubborn people, and I hate when people don't do as they're told the next time your eyes sees something like that I’ll have no other choice than to kill you, and don't try to escape because you would be wasting your precious time you can't leave until I let you go myself. You would stay here in this room until your good for nothing father settles me and until then, you do as I say and know your boundaries, I'm I clear?”

I just nodded quickly, I was trembling inside of me as he spoke. “Good girl,” he gasped, standing up to leave, “I’ll see you in the morning,”

He walked towards the door and turned to give me one last look that sent shivers down my spine before closing the door behind him.

I let out a loud sigh of relief as he left. By now I was sweating profusely, maybe it was because of what I had seen, or because of Dominic’s threatening words. I felt like my throat was about to burst, I quickly rushed into the bathroom to throw up as I was suddenly beginning to feel unwell.

I took a hot bath before coming out, I walked over to the window to close it. The view outside was beautiful and the cold night breeze that sipped in was mind relieving. I don't know how long I stood there staring at the stars trying to get my mind of the chaos, but I knew it was a long time.

Eventually, I went back to bed, I couldn't imagine how I was supposed to sleep with my eyes closed in a place like this. It was as if life were happening to me all in one day.

My boyfriend, who, I thought, was the only one on my side, in bed with my more than evil step-sister and my father giving me up to this ruthless boss over a dept spent on gambling.

I tried waving the thoughts off my mind, but tears filled up my eyes again as the realization of the level of betrayal by my family hit me.

Chapter 149ElenaI had not expected to see him so soon. No, I had not expected to see him at all. The moment I left his world, I thought it was over between us.But, it seems fate had something else in plan. Was it really fate?No guards, no tailored control, and his voice was still soft, unlike the demanding tone he would normally use when addressing me. He had changed so much, in ways I found indescribable. His shirt was wrinkled, and his eyes were slightly bloodshot, that I could even see the dark circles under them. He looked different, exhausted even.I could feel a pang in my chest, did something happen? Why does he look so stressed? But, I did not ask out loud, and merely listened as he spoke. “Elena, these few months have not been easy for me. It took me everything not to follow you or have my men tail you. Can you still not feel my sincerity? Won't you at least consider my feelings and come back with me? Please?”For the first time, Dominic pleaded, not looking like the s

I don't know when it started, but when I realized it, I had already fallen too deep.”I blinked rapidly, stunned. It turned out that I wasn't the only one. After we came back yesterday, Dominic has been all gentle to me. Although I really loved it and wished it could last longer, I had my difficulties. I wanted freedom, in its realest sense.Dominic stared at me like I was the only thing that mattered. His usually sharp eyes were now so soft, filled with emotions I never thought I would see.He continued, repeating, “I love you. I didn't know what that meant until now. But, I know now, and I know that I want you. Not just in my arms, but beside me. As my partner, my equal.”My lips parted, but no words came out. The words I'd longed to hear were finally being spoken, but my heart felt heavy and light at the same tim

Blood sprayed against the wall as Luca's head snapped back due to the force of the bullet. His eyes widened as though he had not expected me to shoot in this situation, and as soon as he staggered, James moved precisely. In a few seconds, he already took the remote from Luca's hold, as Luca's eyes slowly became lifeless, until his slumped body fell to the ground slowly. The silence permeated across the room for a while, no one spoke and Luca's body turned stiff. But, the silence was broken by a group of, who rushed in with a box in their hold. They were the bomb techs, and I quickly heaved in relief. It appears that James already has them ready, but because they don't have any combat skills, he had them stay outside the mansion. One of the techs muttered, “We've got less than a minute to…"“Do it now.” I cut him short icily and he nodded quickly. I held Elena's hands as they did their thing, and I could

After all these were done, one of his men came forward to take the files from my hold, did a cross-check before nodding at Luca, who quickly smiled.I spoke up, “There, you have what you want. Now, let her go.” I demanded sharply. Luca grinned, not out of satisfactions of having achieved his goal, but a cruel grin that signalled at his ferocious personality. “What now? I have done what you wanted.” I repeated, gaze turning sharp with annoyance. “Let her go now.”“I lied.” He began unhurriedly. “You think I will still let you go after everything? Dominic, are you dumb, or you are just not reading in between the lines? Do you think I'd just let you walk away? No, you think too simply. I want to see you bleed, I want to see you beg just like Lara did, and you did not listen.”At his signal, his men moved in sync, and my expression grew solemn. I had expected it, but I wasn't expecting Luca to be so crazy. He

Chapter 145Dominic As Luca spoke up, he had already tightened his hold on Elena, sinking the knife deeper into her flesh, and my eyes caught sight of the trail of blood that trickled down her neck to her chest. My heart skipped a bit, and I almost rushed over to stop him.“Wait, wait. We can talk, tell me what you want.” I quickly spoke up, and Luca glanced at me with a smile that wasn't really one.“Who would have thought that the undefeatable Dominic would be like this for a woman? Anxious and utterly worried just for this weak woman who couldn't even compare to her.” He uttered, glaring at me hatefully. I knew who he was referring to, but I didn't say a word.“What, cat got your tongue now? My sister never asked for too much, she just wanted you to consider her feelings, to love her like she did for you. But, what did you do?” The more he speaks, the uglier his face becomes. However, my gaze was entirely fixed on the knife placed on Elena's neck.He continued, “For ten years,

I had never felt so desperate in my life, everything, including the car that was practically flying, felt too slow for me.I didn't have that time, I didn't have much time, even.Every single part of me screamed that it was a trap, but I didn't give a damn.
