Leonardo was leaving after his meeting with the CEO of SuperTech Innovations, eager to reunite with his wife, when his phone buzzed with a text notification. He pulled it out from the inner pocket of his suit jacket.

‘Meet me at the conference room in the left northern wing.’

It was a text from Ava.

His eyes scanned the hall, finding her standing at a distant corner. Their gazes locked for a fleeting moment before she turned toward the conference room without waiting for a response. Leonardo furrowed in confusion, slipping the phone back into his pocket before following her quietly.

As he entered the conference room, Ava stood in the middle of the room with her back facing him. The faint scent of her expensive perfume lingered in the air.

"What's wrong, Ava?" Leonardo's voice was low with concern.

Ava turned abruptly, revealing red-rimmed eyes and streaked mascara. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Leonardo frowned, stepping closer and pulling out his handkerchief and offering it to her.

The next morning, when Siena woke up, she realized Cristiano had already gotten out of bed. He was in the gym beside their bedroom. She got up, walked to the bathroom, and took a quick shower to get ready for the day. After getting dressed, she stepped back into the room just as Cristiano walked in—sweaty, flushed, and still catching his breath from his workout.“Good morning,” he murmured, his eyes drifting over his wife. Siena felt the familiar heat rush through her at the way he looked at her.“Good morning,” she smiled as he pulled her into his arms.“You’re all sweaty,” she laughed, wrinkling her nose.“So?” he teased, pressing her even closer. She giggled and pushed lightly at his chest.“Go shower,” she insisted. He chuckled and shook his head, but he went into the bathroom anyway.Siena laid out his clothes on the bed, then left the room to head downstairs to the kitchen to help her mother-in-law.Soraya smiled when she saw Siena. Both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law stood s

“How do you even have Raffaele’s number?” Siena asked, confusion and suspicion sharpening her voice.“I have my ways,” Cristiano replied calmly, his face perfectly unreadable.“What ways?” she pressed, crossing her arms with a deep frown.“You get to talk to your family, right? That’s all that should matter to you. Why bother with the details?” He said, his tone teasing, almost manipulative.Siena stared at him for a long moment, searching his expression for the truth. When he clearly wasn’t going to give her more, she exhaled and let her shoulders drop. “Fine… I can’t deny you’re the best husband. I guess I’m lucky.”Cristiano’s smirk curved, slow and amused. “What kind of halfhearted gesture is that to appreciate your husband?”Before she could respond, he scooped her up in his arms and carried her straight to the bed.“Enough talking,” he murmured, leaning over her, his voice dropping into that deep, commanding tone that never failed to make her blush. “I want you.”Siena bit her l

Siena’s heartbeat sped up as she lifted the phone to her ear—but before she could speak, Cristiano gently took it from her hand. Without a word, he pressed the speaker option and set the phone between them. Siena stared at him, confused. He gave her a small nod, a gesture telling her to go ahead… to talk. She swallowed hard. Her throat felt tight, her nerves tangled. But the word still slipped out, barely above a whisper.“Hello?”“Siena!” Raffaele’s voice—just that one word—shattered her. Tears instantly spilled down her hazel eyes.“R… Raffaele?” her voice broke.“Yes, Siena. It’s me. Your brother.” He exhaled shakily, as if holding himself together.“Brother?” Her voice rose, raw with hurt. “You call yourself my brother, yet you abandoned me like I never mattered—like I never even existed!” All the anger, all the pain she buried for days came pouring out. “Mom… Dad… they didn’t even think twice before leaving me. As if I wasn’t their daughter at all.”Then her own words hit her.

“Siena!” “Siena!”Cristiano shouted her name as he tore through the room, checking the bathroom, the closet—every corner. She wasn’t there.Where could she have gone at this hour?Panic shot through him. His chest tightened as he spun around, ready to storm out and search the entire house. Then he noticed it—the balcony door, wide open, the curtains drifting in the night breeze. He froze.There. A small silhouette. He walked toward the balcony.“What are you doing out here?” he asked, his tone carrying an edge he couldn’t hide. It wasn’t anger—it was fear. His eyes settled on his wife, standing still, staring at the moon as if lost in another world.Siena turned slowly and smiled. “You’re home?”“Yeah,” he said, stepping closer. “But why are you out here? You’ll catch a cold.” He didn’t want to admit how terrified he’d been when he didn’t find her.“Oh…” She blinked and shivered, hugging her arms around herself. “The moon is so beautiful tonight. And the air… the night just feels

Hunter had been Cristiano’s friend since childhood. He knew everything about the marriage—Cristiano’s anger, his reluctance, his motives—because Cristiano confided only in him. And he knew Hunter would never betray him; that loyalty had been tested more than once. Cristiano wasn’t foolish enough to keep anyone close without proving them first.“Careful, Hunter. That’s my wife you’re talking about,” Cristiano warned, his voice dropping into that deadly calm everyone feared.“Wife?!” Hunter’s brows flicked up, a flash of disbelief crossing his face. He’d noticed it—the way Cristiano bristled anytime he referred to Siena as that girl, as if she were insignificant.“Do you remember she still has to go?” Hunter said, eyes narrowing. It was the condition. The deal. The ending fate demanded.Cristiano didn’t look at him. His gaze stayed fixed on the darkening sky outside the window. A tightness pulled at his chest, sharp and suffocating, as the truth crept back in—the deal, the promise, the

  • The Mafia's Substitute Bride   Chapter 315. A Romantic Drive

Cristiano started driving, and as the car rolled onto the road, Siena felt her cheeks still burning. She couldn’t believe she had just put Carina in her place—right in front of Cristiano. God, what must he be thinking of her now? That she was aggressive? A bully? The thought made her wince in embarrassment. But before she could spiral further, she flinched at the sudden warmth covering her hand. Cristiano’s fingers slid over hers, gently clasping her hand on her lap while he kept his other hand steady on the steering wheel, eyes fixed on the road.Siena’s heart skipped a beat. Wow. She had always dreamed of moments like this—simple, soft, and intimate. A romantic drive with her husband holding her hand as if he couldn’t bear to let go. His thumb traced slow circles over the back of her palm, sending a rush of goosebumps up her arms again and again.“After I drop you home, I have to go back to the office,” he said, shifting his gaze toward her curious eyes for a brief second before foc
