The steady beeping of the monitors echoed softly in the sterile room, mingling with the sharp scent of disinfectant and lingering traces of antiseptics. Leonardo stirred, his body screaming in protest at the smallest movement. Pain pulsed through every muscle, but the heavy weight in his chest wasn’t just from his injuries.

With great effort, he forced his eyes open. The bright hospital lights stung, making him squint. Bandages wrapped tightly around his torso and shoulder, IV lines snaked from his arm, and his breathing was shallow. But none of it mattered.

His first thought wasn’t about the pain or the near-death experience. It was about her.

“Where is Sofia?” he growled, his voice hoarse but still sharp, commanding, even now.

The sound of his voice—raw and edged with panic—was enough to draw Domenico rushing to his bedside.

“Thank God, Leonardo. You’re awake,” Domenico breathed, his tense features finally relaxing after hours of fear and waiting. “We were beginning to fear the worst

Cristiano’s eyes turned cold, his expression deadly, and Siena’s heart sank in gloom. “Your uncle… the Pakhan’s younger brother,” he replied, his voice stripped of all warmth.Siena finally let out the breath she had been holding, waiting for his answer.A wave of relief washed over her when she realized her father had not been responsible. Had he been, she would never have forgiven Cristiano—never. Yet she was still upset that Nikolai had protected the guilty instead of handing the culprit over to the Italian Mafia. He hadn’t punished his brother for assaulting and killing a woman, for dragging an innocent life into a brutal rivalry that was never hers to bear. And for that sin, Siena had paid the price.Years stolen. A life torn apart. Taken from her family and used as a pawn, all in the name of revenge that had never truly been hers.“Now hurry,” he ordered, impatience creeping in.She dragged a bag out from under the bed, its fabric scraping softly against the floor, and began st

After a while, Siena was fully dressed again. Cristiano was already pulling on his pants, tucking his shirt in with quick, practiced movements.“Siena, we’re leaving. Now,” he said quietly.“But how?” she whispered, then frowned as another thought struck her. “Why haven’t they started searching for you yet? Don’t they know you’re missing by now?”Cristiano’s mouth curved into a cold, knowing smirk. “Because your father didn’t keep me anywhere near this mansion.”Siena stiffened.“He kept me in a separate facility,” Cristiano continued. “A secure holding base. Far from here.”Siena’s eyes widened.Siena’s eyes widened in realization. When he saw the shock on her face, he nodded once, confirming it. “Yeah. That’s right. And I don’t feel bad about it—no matter what, we’re sworn enemies.” His voice hardened. “What hurt me was thinking you’d be safe with your father because he’s a powerful mafia leader. I was wrong. All he cared about was his reputation—not even his own children.”His jaw

His eyes narrowed, searching hers.“Are you kidding me, doll?!” His voice was deceptively calm, almost soft, but every word carried a storm. “You don’t know? Then why the hell did you send that text? You made me want to burn the whole world just for letting you go… cross seven oceans… face a thousand hells… just to bring you back to me.”“I still have a week until my next period, so I can’t be sure if I’m really pregnant. But I texted you,” she admitted, voice barely above a whisper, hesitating. “…because I wanted to see whether you’d come for me or not. ”He kissed her forehead, smiling softly. His doll was smarter than he thought of her—she knew exactly how to use his weakness. She was his weakness.“But if I hadn’t texted you… would you have really given up on me?” she asked, her lips pouting, a soft note of complaint in her voice.Cristiano sighed, resting his forehead against hers. “I don’t know, doll… but I’m glad you played that little trick, and I came for you.”“So… it means…

Cristiano bit his bottom lip as he watched his wife, ready to tell her everything—because now there was nothing left to hide. Nothing he wanted to keep secret between them.“You weren’t safe there,” he murmured, pain etched deep into his features. His hand came up, rubbing over his eyes as if the weight of it all was finally crushing him.“Then what were you for?” she shot back, her voice shaking with fury as she struck his chest with her fist. “If you couldn’t even keep me safe!”“I was helpless,” he admitted, his shoulders lifting in a defeated shrug. “My family… and then you. I couldn’t choose.”Couldn’t choose? When he had already chosen them over her.Her breath hitched. Rage and heartbreak twisted together as she shoved him again—harder this time—but he didn’t move an inch.“Then why did you come now?” she demanded, tears burning her eyes. “Why are you here? Tell me. Go back to your family, then.”He stepped closer, his voice low, rough with truth and desperation.“Because no m

“So you’re really going to marry that bastard,” Cristiano said hoarsely, fury lacing every word, “while you’re pregnant with my child?”Siena frowned, pain flashing across her face as she pushed herself off the bed. His eyes followed her every step, unblinking, as if she might vanish if he looked away for even a second. She stopped right in front of him.And then her hand rose, colliding with his cheek. The sound of the slap cracked through the room.“You’re always so selfish,” she whisper-yelled, her body shaking with anger and hurt. “You only ever think about yourself.”She glared at him, lips trembling, the light in her eyes dimming as she added in a low, broken tone, “And how do you even know it’s your child?”Cristiano closed his eyes, his jaw tightening as if fighting for control—but in the next heartbeat, he moved. Suddenly, he was too close. One hand locked around her waist while the other gripped the back of her neck, dragging her closer as he surged forward and crushed his l

The words landed like a gunshot.Silence swallowed the room.Cristiano’s smirk faded—slowly, dangerously—his eyes darkening with irritation as he looked at her, something feral and possessive igniting beneath the surface.Nikolai’s eyes snapped to his daughter. “What did you say?” he growled.Cristiano’s jaw clenched, his grip tightening around the guns, muscles coiling as if ready to strike.“I’m just saying…” Siena said, her voice unsteady but resolute. “For once, let’s do this the decent way—without guns and knives. You know it as well as I do, Papa. Cristiano Vitelli alone is enough to wipe out the entire Bratva. If you raise a gun at him, he will fire back.”Her voice broke slightly.“I don’t want to watch the people I love bleed. Please.”Nikolai narrowed his eyes at the Italian don. Cristiano remained unmoved—calm, unreadable, deadly. Nikolai knew exactly what the man before him was capable of. That knowledge gnawed at him, feeding the fear he despised. It was why he had wante
