The storm raged heavily outside, but there was complete silence in the walls of Alex’s study. Lillian watched the lightning through the window, wrapping the blanket around her damp body.

What just happened between her and Alex continued to replay in her head. How vulnerable she became and how he gripped her tightly.

“You are mine,” he said, and she quickly bit her lip and returned back to reality.

Her body had betrayed her in Alex’s arms, meanwhile all she was filled with was hate and resentment towards him.

She walked back and forth in the study. She knew she had entered a tough world, and whether she liked it or not, she now belonged to Alex.

Lucy’s world crumbled the day her father died. It wasn't just the loss of his laughter, his gentle smile or the way he made them feel safe. Her father had been keeping the family together and living in silent debt just to make sure that they were happy.

The first weeks after his funeral were the hardest. Lucy was sad and depressed. She spe

  • The Mafia’s possession   Chapter 28

The room was quiet and bright. The morning sun reflected into her room. Lillian sank onto the floor, her back against the door, and her arms were wrapped around her knees. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she sobbed bitterly. Alex stood in the kitchen staring at the closed lid; his hand was clenched into a fist. Lillian's sobs made him feel some type of regret, but he kept reminding himself that it wasn't his fault. He had to do what he did to Diego. He was a betrayal and a threat. A man who had destroyed countless lives by embezzling a huge sum of money, including Lillian. He wanted to go to her room to have a word with her, but he knew it would be a waste of time. The fight wasn't over. He knew Diego’s bosses would come for revenge, so he had to be ten steps ahead. The road ahead would be paved with blood and secrets, so he has to stay vigilant.Their suitcases had been packed and stayed by the door while they both sat down for breakfast. Alex had completed his mission in Italy, s

  • The Mafia’s possession   Chapter 27

Alex’s POV:The walk back to my room felt endless. Torture and killing were not new to me, but tonight it felt different. I felt guilty, as if I had done something wrong. Diego's screams replayed in my head, the way he coughed out blood and the pains in his eyes. The way he spoke about powers bigger than Vincenzo. In a normal situation, this should have given me satisfaction, but here I was with my chest carrying a huge burden and feeling regretful. And then there was Lillian. Her face lingered in my mind. Her quiet and pale face. She hadn't spoken to me; she wouldn't look at my face, nor did she beg me to stop. She had gone silent on me, and the silence is killing me. I opened the door to my room. It was very dark with a little reflection of moonlight. I sat on the edge of the bed with my elbow on my knee, dragging my hands down my face. For the first time in years, I felt remorseful. What have I become? My father wanted strength, and I wanted strength and power. Not this… this mo

The underground dungeon smelt of dust and rust. It was a huge basement with bulbs flickering every second. Diego was tied to a metal chair at the centre of the room with wrists heavily tied to the chair. Alex stood in front of him, giving him a cold and angry look. His eyes burnt with rage, and his jaw clenched. His men stood at the edges of the room and remained silent. Alex slowly squatted to reach Diego’s level. “Surprised to see yourself here?” he chuckled dryly. Diego lifted his face, lips swollen and one of his eyes nearly shut. He didn't even have the strength to speak. “Sai perché sei qui, Diego?” (in Italian)“Do you know why you're here, Diego?” Alex asked. "Non è sicuramente un tea party" (in Italian).“It’s definitely not a tea party,” Deigi replied. Alex’s fist hurriedly landed on Diego’s jaw, snapping his head to the side. He leaned close, his eyes burning with hate. “You think this is a joke? After assisting to assassinate my father and stealing from me,”Blood

The garden became silent with just me staring at Diego’s unconscious body. The soft sound of crickets became louder, and the clouds darkened. I took a few steps backwards, trying to catch my breath. Before I could gather my thoughts, shadows moved swiftly between the fences. Alex’s men appeared as if they had been waiting for the exact moment. Their movements were silent, and none of them looked at me. Their eyes were focused on the task. Two of them lifted Diego’s body without stress, as if he had no weight. The other man reached for my arm, and I followed him out of the garden. My feet felt so numb, and I couldn't say any word. In minutes, I found myself in the backseat of the black SUV, and we were on the road before we knew it. My mind was full; it was filled with guilt and hatred. The ride gradually became suffocating with each bump on the road and my body jolting. I wrapped my arms tightly around me with goosebumps appearing on my skin. Soon, the car stopped and the massiv

Lillian’s POV“Wait!” I screamed; my voice cracked, and tears were beginning to gather in my eyes. “I will do it,” I said, feeling a huge lump in my throat. My mother’s life, her fragile life, flashed before my eyes, and my fist tightened. Her memories filled my mind, her warm hand holding me when I was a child. I couldn't lose her. “I will do it,” I said again with heavy desperation. My chest rising and falling heavily. Alex's lips curled into a slow and cruel smile. The kind of smile that made goosebumps appear all over my skin. He nodded his head gently, his gaze pinning me down.“You are with the drug. “You know what to do,” was said. I blinked my eyes repeatedly to avoid tears from rolling down my cheeks. I fidgeted, and my eyes turned blurry. “How… how do I do it?” I whispered; my throat became dry. “I have never done this before.”Alex’s face turned hard. His eyes became dark, and the smile on his lips disappeared. “This must work out. You cannot mess up. First of all, focu

  • The Mafia’s possession   Chapter 23

Lillian’s POV:The makeup artist arrived in the afternoon just as Alex announced. Brushes and powders were swept across my face. My hair was styled again, making it softer and wavier. When they were done with the makeup, I dressed in a silver dress. I looked into the mirror, and I couldn't recognise my reflection. Alex stood at the doorway, dressed in a black tailored suit and a white unbuttoned shirt that revealed his chest. His tie was loose, and he looked extremely hot. His eyes were on me for a moment even though I acted like I wasn't aware he was staring. I stood up, and the glittering dress flowed on the floor. It hugged my waist perfectly and glittered under the light. At that moment, I felt a little exposed but powerful. “Beautiful,” Alex complimented, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. “Thank you,” I replied; my voice was low. I turned to him, and my breath ceased as our eyes met. Immediately, he removed his gaze from me.“Are you ready to go?” he asked, gesturing
