Free At Last
I stand in panic and run a few steps towards the city noise. Maybe I can get some help, but on second thought, there's no way I'm doing that. What... What if something happens to Desmond.
What if... What if Mader comes back? I run back to Desmond.
"Desmond? Come on open your eyes. "I beg with tears as I tap his face gently.
He doesn't respond and I notice he isn't breathing.
"D... Desmond? "I call in fear.
I feel about his neck with my fingers. Not knowing exactly how to but hoping to somehow find a pulse.
"Desmond! "I scream when he doesn't reply.
"Please Desmond open your eyes! "I scream in fear. He can't leave me. Not now, not ever, I can't be this close to a better life hopefully with him and then he'd leave me. He's been my strength for the past three years. It can't all go to waste!
