Blood Shower

“Alright everyone! You all know the rules, line up on the basketball line. And show me your best abilities.” Mr. Wickman said with a gruff and harsh voice. He sounded as if he really wasn’t too thrilled to be teaching this class. And Cordovia wasn’t either, in fact she still didn’t understand much going on around her. She merely got to have a quick shower to get the drink out of her hair. The girl looked around, as the others began to stretch; so she too stretched. Nikolias stood to her right, while Amaria was to her left. ‘I don’t get why they keep saying abilities. But I guess I will find out.’ She thought, as she began to grow even more nervous than she had been.

One by one, other students demonstrated their abilities. Some had super strength, could run really fast, and others had simple abilities; like telepathy, or changing another’s emotional state. Cordovia then began to feel different, compared to the others. As her mother raised her to be more human, she lacked knowing how to control anything. Though with excitement in her stomach as well, the girl watched as Amaria walked forward. Out in front of everyone, she smiled softly. “For you Mr. Wickman, I have perfected my voice.” She said, as she turned to look at everyone on the line.

Once her voice flooded the gym atmosphere, her voice seemed to echo perfectly in everyone’s ears. As she seemed to sing a song, in a different dialect, everyone began to follow her. Their movements, their minds, and their actions as well, all controlled by Amaria through her song. As if they seemed to be in a dream, following the orders of the only one they ‘love’. Though more so, the boys acted accordingly. As the girls gave some resistance, per usual. Once the song stopped, Amaria merely returned to her place in line. Most of the boys couldn’t recall what had just happened, but the girls could. One minor effect her singing had on men, than women.

Cordovia’s mouth was open, as she watched everything around go back to normal. The girl looked at Amaria and whispered “Woah.” Her eyes began to sparkle with wonder, as she thought to herself ‘So this is what it is like to be supernatural? Or not human, as father said early this morning.’ Beginning to think about her abilities, she blushed rather softly. Realizing that she didn’t know anything, even about her own self.

As Nikolias walked forward, he smiled to himself. ‘I wonder how she is going to react, when she sees my true form. I hope I can impress her though.’ He thought to himself, beginning to worry about scaring her. If only he knew her previous thoughts, about the fact. Still she was new, and he wanted to get to know her. Something about the girl seemed to make him want more. Not just because she was now, but because she looked like she needed someone around. Plus, new school and home, of course it was a different feeling. As if he had only noticed, Angel was now missing. Normally she would be cheering him on in the gym, or taking the first chance to show off her abilities; before anyone else. Looking around he sighed, his attention turning back to Mr. Wickman, as the teacher began to talk.

As he demonstrated a little agility with speed, Mr. Wickman nodded. “I see that is all you will show today. We do have a new student, let us see what she is capable of.” He added, looked at Cordovia from across the way. His blood shot eyes seemed to stare into her soul, and it gave her the creeps a little. With a light pink hue to her cheeks, the girl rubbed the back of her neck nervously. She cleared her throat and merely explained her situation to the teacher. Though he didn’t seem amused by her ‘storytelling’. He also seemed to be slightly agitated about something. His eyes darted around the room anxiously, though nobody else seemed to notice. “You still have a Mark, so you should be able to demonstrate your known abilities to the class and I.” Mr. Wickman finally said, this time he sounded a little more stern than before. His voice was still gruff, with the sound of mucus stuck in the back of his throat. Making Cordovia cringe on the inside, once again.

As the teacher seemed to press her, he finally gave up when she said she didn’t know who she really was. The other students looked at her, confused as to why she was there then. Nikolias and Amaria looked to one another, but didn’t really know what to say either. They were wanting to know more, though never pushed it any further than it had been right now. “You have until the end of the week to show me what you know, or your first grade in gym class, will be an F.” He added, this time sounding a little more harsh than the times before. As he seemed to disappear towards his office area, Nikolias and Amaria walked closer to her.

Sighing, the girl looked to the floor and waited for them to start questioning her. Though they never did, only explained not everyone knows who they truly are. And it happened a lot more than she really knew. Trying to believe them, she spent the rest of the class period trying to figure out her special abilities. Though she knew a little bit already. Magic flowed through her veins, but she didn’t know how much. That was all her father had revealed to her. Only because she previously asked about the mark, similar to hers.

As the bell rang, the girl sighed. Disappointed in spending the rest of class trying to figure out something, she still had no idea how to use, or even produce ‘said’ abilities. So, everyone headed towards the showers. Though all stopped when they heard a blood curdling scream. Nikolias was quick to move ahead of everyone, making sure nothing else was wrong. Though was very mistaken when he reached the shower area, from where the scream came from.

But as soon as he got there, the scene that was in front of him was something else. First it was the smell that had lured him in a little faster than most. He was one of the only other werewolves at The Donatus Academy; Angel and the headmaster, being the other two there.

As if the scene was from a horror movie. The thick, but sweet metallic scent of blood filled the air. Being able to taste the metallic essence from the smell, was an effect it seemed to have with it. Unable to tell who the body belonged to, but there was another scent added to the mix as well. Something he had smelled before, though couldn’t quite place his finger on. All he could see was, the body was up against the shower walls; stabbed through the chest with the shower head and piping. Nikolias moved closer to the girl that was in there. Her name was Ester Magnolia, and she was the one that screamed. As she was holding her face, she could tell who it was, by looking at a few details. Though she was in too much shock to even say anything.

As if anyone else could imagine, the scene was much worse than the details other’s would be saying. Nikolias looked through all the blood, and to the corpse. He could tell the girl’s face had been torn to shreds, while her left eye was missing. And her right hung from it’s socket, still intact to the optical nerve. Her right arm seemed to be missing it’s forearm. There seemed to be a chunk of skin missing from her neck as well. And both legs looked like they had been broken, but with what? Her lower abdomen area had large gashes in it, while her intestines seemed to hang out. Some of her intestines looked like they had been perfectly wrapped around the shower head. And in her left hand, there was something there; tightly gripped in her still warm, but dead hand.

It hadn’t been long, and soon the headmaster arrived. He too, was in shock at the scene that happened at his school. Making everyone leave, he soon realised something out of the ordinary. The hair color and even some of the jewelry that was on the, still warm, corpse. He then realized this wasn’t a normal murder. Sighing, the headmaster still couldn’t make out who the girl was. Afraid of the worst, he left the shower and called the police. This would be in the papers for weeks, or longer. Something like this didn’t really happen in a small town. Especially since it had been over 20 years since the last murder happened.

!! RESUME IF SKIPPED !!

It had been a long day, and obviously a stressful one. Especially when a student was found dead, in an odd mannerism as well. Unlike most others that had stayed back, Cordovia has caught a small glimpse herself. Which caused her to feel sick, upon finding this kind of thing at her school. Although she was in a new world, even if it had been around her to begin with. She was outside the academy steps, waiting upon the driver that had brought her to school this morning.

As her phone rang, she looked at it. A number she hadn’t seen before, though she figured it must be someone wanting to talk to her. Answering it, she listened after she spoke. It was her father on the other end. He spoke of hearing about the incident from the headmaster, and he was on his way home. Something in his voice seemed urgent to get home, as well as for Cordovia to be there as well. She responded by telling him her driver was taking her home, when they got to the academy.

As a black colored SUV pulled up and came to a stop, one gentleman stepped out. While the window rolled down behind him. Cordovia noticed the two faces in front of her, the men that had brought her home to begin with. She told her father goodbye and hung up her phone. Walking down the steps, the man that had stepped out of the SUV, opened the passenger rear door for her. Nodding to him, the girl that did have a happy face this morning, was back to being monotone. She sighed softly to herself, as they headed towards the manor.

As they arrived back at the manor, the girl jumped out of the SUV and moved towards the large oak doors. Pushing them open, she ran down the hallway and towards the staircase. She was already upset about the scene that she had seen. And now, her father was on his way home. But she didn’t know if he would really be there. Running up the stairs, and towards her own room; she slammed the door shut. As the sound of the slammed door echoed throughout the manor, the other’s that lived there could tell something was bothering the girl. Though as requested by her father, they stayed away until the day of his death. Which they knew would be soon, but not sooner than they could think of.

As she lay on her bed, the girl sighed softly. Fond memories of her mother flowed through her thoughts. Sad memories. Bad ones. And then the great ones. She smiled to herself, as if she just had the conversation with her mother yesterday.

‘10 year old Cordovia crying to her mother, as she held a little blue jay within her hands. Unable to listen to the child speak, through the crying and tears; the woman took the blue jay from her. She could tell that the blood on her daughter's hands was from the little bird. Soothing her daughter’s tears, she spoke gently to her “Everything is going to be alright.” She then looked at the small bird, and cupped her hands over it. Speaking a few words, the girl was too emotional to hear, a light started to glint behind her fingers. And soon, the once hurt bird, was now squawking repeatedly. Handing the blue jay to her daughter, the little bird perched itself on her shoulder. “Everything is fine now darling. Go back and play now.” She spoke with a soft tone, then planted a kiss upon her forehead. Watching her daughter leave the room, that was one of the last times the woman ever produced magic in front of her daughter.’

With a smile plastered on her lips, she was already drifting off to sleep. Though still not realizing that her own mother showed her magic at the age of ten. The days events had been difficult to comprehend, and the murder that happened; was just unheard of as well. Rolling over to get more comfortable, the girl slowly drifted off to sleep. Forgetting about everything that had transpired that day.
