Chapter 25

I WAS PANTING HARD and gasping for air. I tried to calm myself once I was out of my boss's office. Something heavy lifted from my chest the moment I walked out of that damn room.

I returned to my cubicle and sat in my chair, still trying to calm myself. Because of my angry breathing, my chest was moving up and down. When I finally calmed down, I realized I had gone beyond my capabilities. I wasn't supposed to say those words because I admitted that he was still my boss and that I was just his secretary. It was my responsibility to do everything he said, and I had no right to refuse. And my initial reaction was over. That, I believe, is due to my stressful job. It was only two days here, but the stress level was nearly 100 percent.

I wash my face with my hands, frustrated by the realization that washed over my system that my boss will punish me by giving me a lot of work loads or simply choosing to throw me out of this building, causing me to fail this year because of my overreaction
