ONE YEAR LATER

Emma adjusted the black gown she was wearing, putting her hair up in a bun. She moved closer to the mirror, applying a lipstick and a bit of foundation. She was never the type of girl who knew how to do a make-up so she did the little that she could, once every now and then.

She put on her black heels, picked up her red purse to brighten the outfit. She walked out into the living room where her mum and sister were at.

"You look so beautiful darling," her mum said.

"You really do," Helen added.

Emma sat next to Helen on the dinning area. She had moved back home after the book reveal with her mum and Helen.

They had moved away from their former apartment into a much nicer one. With the money Helen had gotten from the lawsuit and the fact that they had promoted her mum at work, they had more than enough.

Although, most of the money Helen had gotten had gone into charity because she believed that was the best thing to do with the money, they still had some left.

"I am leaving for school soon," Helen said, finishing her sandwich. She had started fashion school and was in her second year.

Emma's phone beeped, it was from her assistant. Ever since the launch of the book the year before. Sales have skyrocketed and she was doing so well for herself. Everyone loved her book and even the greatest book critics thought her book was a good read.

She looked at the message that had popped and it was a message telling her that the New York Times wanted to interview her. Emma smiled and she couldn't contain her joy even.

"I just got asked to do an interview with the New York Times!!" Emma said and Helen screamed for joy. "That's amazing!!" Her mum exclaimed.

"I am so so proud of you girls and I wouldn't have wanted it to be another way," Their mum said with a big smile across her lips.

"I love you girls so much," she added.

"We love you too, mum," they both said and then came to give her a hug.

Emma looked at Helen and her mum with a smile plastered on her lips.

"What's it?" Helen asked.

"I am just really grateful for everything, we have come a long way."

"I know right," Helen agreed.

"You better get going before you are late for your dinner," Helen said. Emma smiled and stood from where she was sitting.

"Bye guys."

She had a dinner date with Eric. The past year has been amazing for both of them in their relationship. They had both grown a lot and were in love like never before.

Emma wasn't friends with Henry anymore but they were cool. He had reached out to apologize and she told him that she had forgiven him.

She thought about all the good things he had also done for her, even though the intentions might have been different. He did it still and she couldn't forget that.

Emma arrived at the location were Henry had told her to meet him. It was her former restaurant where she worked. She wondered what he was up to.

She walked closer to the door, she found a sticker on the door which read "come in". She pushed the door open but it was dark inside then the lights suddenly came up.

There was another note on the floor which read "table no 5 needs your attention,"

Emma smiled as she walked towards table no 5. There was no one there, then she suddenly heard footsteps behind her and it was Eric.

Emma smiled. "You're being mischievous," she said and they both laughed.

Emma wondered how he had gotten the whole place to himself and how the manager had even allowed. She had an idea of what might be happening but she didn't want to make any assumptions.

"Will you please sit," Eric said and he sat across from her.

Emma watched him in excitement.

"So, about two years ago, I met a lovely lady at this table on one of the most unexpected encounter. It was a lovely afternoon but her smile made it even more amazing as I dropped down the newspaper I was reading to look at her. I knew from that day that I had met a special person, one who I wanted in my life. Whether as a lover or as a friend but I wanted it to be the former."

Emma smiled as memories of the day came to her head.

"You have always told me how you loved the littlest things and the tiniest details. I figured why not bring you back to the place where it all started at this table and that's why we are here. I want you to know that you have a special place in my heart and you always will. Our love story had some up and downs but that makes it even more thrilling to talk about especially since we are here now. And you're right, happy endings do exist and I want to have one with you now," Eric said, going down on one knees in front of Emma who was already wiping the uncontrollable tears off her cheeks.

"Will you marry me?" Eric said with the ring in front of him.

Emma pulled him up and kissed him on the lips. "Yes, I will. I will marry you," she said as she released from the kiss.

"I am sorry if it's not as fancy as I would have wanted it to be," Eric said looking around.

She held his hands and looked straight into his eyes.

"This is perfect, you are perfect. I would never have wanted it any other way. I love the intention and I love you. So many months have gone by and my love for you is always different than the next day because it keeps growing even more. I know you always talked about how I always saw the world and felt everything should have a happy ending, it was because I was projecting my happy ending. I wasn't sure, I never was but I couldn't stop being positive about it. I love you so much and I can't wait to spend forever with you."

"I love you too, babe."
