PRISCILLA

Gabriel exhaled again, longer this time, like he was trying to burn the rage out of his lungs.

Then, without a word, he stood.

“I’ll drive you,” he said flatly.

I blinked, confused. “Drive me where?”

“To your grandmother’s house,” he replied. “If he took her anywhere, it’s probably that same address—your grandmother’s place.”

I nodded quietly. There was nothing else to say. He was giving me more than I’d expected already.

He led me out of the living room, his steps steady and focused now, like a soldier prepping for a mission he hated but had no choice but to follow through with. We went through a hallway, then into the side door of the garage. Motion lights flicked on overhead, washing the space in a dim yellow glow.

Two cars sat in silence.

Both black. Both sleek. But one was a muscular RangeRover, almost growling with bulk. The other was smaller—sleek, low, and sharp, like a predator crouching in the dark.

He headed for the smaller one.

Without a word, he opened the pass

PRISCILLA The grotesque figure stood tall in the silence, his body barely held together, the rot no longer hidden by the heavy cloak he'd shed. Black veins pulsed with writhing movement beneath translucent, decaying skin, his face a half-collapsed mockery of what a man once was. And yet… his voice rang out with clarity, aged but sharp. He tilted his head slightly and turned those stunned, yet strangely amused eyes to Caius.“You finally made it, son,” he said, the words soaked in dark pride. “I didn’t know you’d bring her. Look what she did… she brought me back.”Then came a laugh—if it could even be called that. It scraped the air like broken glass dragged across steel, echoing off the towering stone walls. It twisted deep inside my ears and sent a cold shiver tunneling straight down my spine. And then… he stopped. Just like that. Mouth curling back into something between a grin and a sneer.Caius stepped forward with a forced stillness, his face unreadable. “It’s my pleasure that y

GABRIEL The engine was off, but I hadn't moved. For what felt like hours, I sat behind the wheel, hands gripping the steering wheel like I could strangle time itself. The forest around her grandmother’s house had gone quiet, like even the wind knew something unnatural was stirring beyond those trees.I should’ve never let her go in there alone.I’m her Alpha. Her mate. The fuck was I thinking?I closed my eyes and leaned back in the seat, the leather creaking under the weight of my frustration. My senses had stretched so far they were burning—searching, reaching for that bond, for anything. But it was faint now. Flickering. Like a dying signal barely coming through. At some point, Davina had stirred in the back seat, her head resting on a bundled jacket I’d tossed her as a makeshift pillow. She was still weak. Whatever spell they had used on her, it had leeched something vital from her—her energy, her fire. She’d blinked a few times, met my eyes in the rearview mirror, and whispered,

PRISCILLA Something cracked against the back of my skull.Pain exploded white-hot behind my eyes. And then—nothing.---When I opened my eyes, the world was spinning.Dawnlight filtered through towering stained glass windows, painting warm, drowsy hues across a big chamber. But it wasn’t any ordinary room. No—this was a library. Or something that used to be one. Floor-to-ceiling shelves towered around me, filled with books of every size and age, the kind you’d expect in an old European cathedral, not in the middle of rogue territory. It was massive. Grand. Cold.Too big for even a full-blooded pack to fill.I pushed myself up from the polished wooden floor, groaning as a throb flared at the back of my head. My hand reached instinctively for the tender spot. Wet. Warm. I winced.“Did you have to cheat?” I muttered bitterly, to no one in particular. “I thought this game was supposed to be fair.”The heavy creak of an old iron door pulled my attention.I turned, expecting Caius. But I

PRISCILLA“She’s gone,” he said. The words sliced through the silence, cold and final. I froze. The walls seemed to close in, the air too still, too quiet.“No,” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the roar in my ears. “No, she can’t be.”But she was.Gabriel didn’t move. His jaw worked, clenched and unclenched, like he was trying to bite back everything threatening to explode out of him. His hands remained on his hips, but I saw the tremble in his fingers, the twitch in his brow.“She was right here,” I said, voice rising. “She was right here! How could she just—?”“I locked the door,” he muttered, more to himself than me. “I locked the damn door. Three bolts. Triple-sealed. No one should’ve gotten in or out.”“Well, clearly someone did!” I snapped, the panic curdling into something hot and bitter in my chest. “Unless you think she *phased* through the wall?”Gabriel’s eyes shot to mine. “Don’t,” he said lowly, the warning clear. “Don’t start tearing me apart when we should be

PRISCILLA I stared at her, unblinking. “You’re... staying with him?” Davina didn’t flinch. Her hand dropped to her side, fingers curling into a loose fist. “Yes.” My mouth parted, but no words came. I shook my head slowly, as if that would snap her out of it. “Davina, this isn’t funny.” “I’m not joking.” Gabriel stepped forward. “The hell you’re staying with him.” His voice was low now, deadly quiet, and that scared me more than when he was yelling. “You don’t know what he is—” “I know exactly what he is,” Davina snapped, her voice slicing through the air. “And you know what? He told me the truth. More truth than you’ve ever given her.” I felt Gabriel go still beside me. “What are you talking about?” I asked, eyes darting between them. Davina finally turned to me fully, her expression tight, sorrow shadowing her bold features. “Priscilla, I didn’t want you to find out like this. But there are things you need to know. About who you are. About why he wants you—” Gabriel moved
