Chapter 4

Author: Tea leaf
I struggled to get up, half of my face swollen and blood dripping from the corner of my mouth.

Shielding my abdomen, I spoke coldly, “What child? How could someone like me, a ‘vicious woman,’ possibly have the honor of carrying the great CEO’s child?

“Amazing, really. You’re such a loyal and devoted husband. Truly touching. But you don’t have to worry about the child anymore. It’s gone.”

I turned to Lisa with a sharp smile. “Oh, and congratulations, Lisa. You’ve finally picked up the trash I threw away. Enjoy these last few days of bliss because, soon enough, all your comforts will be enjoyed behind bars.”

James furrowed his brows, his tone harsh. “Answer me! Where’s my child? I’m the child’s father! Once we divorce, I’ll fight for custody no matter what!”

Looking at him now, everything became clear. I had thrown away my family's carefully selected match, all for this man I'd worshipped with such naive devotion. How foolish it all seemed.

Noticing James’ focus on me, Lisa cried out pitifully, clutching her side as if in pain.

“Lisa, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I’ll take you to the hospital right now!” James exclaimed in panic.

“I’m fine, James,” she whimpered through her tears. “Don’t upset her anymore. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have shown up at her door that day. This is all on me.”

She cried, delicate and trembling like petals in a storm, and James gently brushed her tears away before placing a tender kiss on her cheek.

Their display of affection made my stomach churn.

Suppressing the urge to vomit, I sneered, “Enough with the kissing. If it doesn’t disgust you, it certainly disgusts me. Let’s go and finalize the divorce. Afterward, that ‘CEO’s wife’ title can go to whoever you please.”

My words lit a fire in James’ eyes. “Kailey, you really are the most vile woman! After everything you’ve done to Lisa, you still have the audacity not to apologize? You’d better get on your knees and apologize to her right now!”

I stared at them coldly as Lisa nestled deeper into James’ arms, her lips curling into a victorious smirk.

“Who’s hurting whom, exactly?” I scoffed. “You slapped me for no reason, didn’t bother apologizing, and now you’re accusing me of crimes I didn’t commit?

“You cheated on me while I was pregnant—doing all those revolting things with your secretary—and you have the nerve to call yourself the child’s father?”

James’ face twisted in fury as he jabbed a finger at me, hurling insults.

"I thought you might have reflected on your actions during this time, but it turns out you’re still as shameless and unrepentant as ever!" James shouted, his face twisted with rage.

"You vicious woman! You must have deliberately killed my child! You were jealous of Lisa's success and couldn’t stand me caring about her injuries, so you cruelly murdered my baby!

"I’m going to take you to court! I’ll expose all of your evil deeds to the world!"

His shouting quickly drew the attention of onlookers. Some recognized him and Lisa as the famous CEO couple who had recently gone viral online. They stopped to watch, their murmurs swelling as the crowd grew.

Lisa, noticing the attention, immediately put on a more pitiful act. With teary eyes, she exposed my identity.

"Mrs. Fletcher, I know you hate me, but you can’t take it out on your own child! I don’t blame you for coming at me with a knife, but please, don’t hurt James anymore, okay?"

The crowd quickly connected the dots, realizing who I was, and the murmurs turned into heated discussions.

"Isn’t she that woman from the internet? The one who attacked someone out of jealousy? What a toxic person!"

"How cruel do you have to be to harm your own baby? She’s absolutely wicked!"

"Why hasn’t anyone called the police yet? Someone like her deserves to be locked up or worse!"

The insults rained down on me, relentless and unforgiving.

James didn’t spare me so much as a glance. All his attention was on Lisa, his voice soft and full of concern.

"Lisa, are you still in pain? Did she hurt you anywhere?"

Lisa bit her lip, pretending to hold back tears as she replied, "I’m fine, James. She pushed me because she lost her temper. It’s nothing, really."

  • The Mistress Came to Kill Me on Our Anniversary Night   Chapter 9

With everything finally settled, I returned to the company’s headquarters a few days later to officially take up my position. I dedicated myself to my work, managing the business with great success. A month later, my lawyer informed me that James’ company had suffered a massive stock crash due to the scandal, leading to its eventual bankruptcy. Not long after, James took his own life in prison, unable to face his downfall. As for Lisa, she lost her sanity after learning in prison that I was the heiress of a powerful family. Consumed by jealousy and hatred, she was eventually sent to a psychiatric hospital. Bound in a straitjacket, she now lived a life worse than death. I shook my head lightly and said, “There’s no need to tell me about them anymore. They have nothing to do with me now.” The sun streamed through the window, warm and golden. Stretching lazily, I began to think about where I should go for my next vacation.

As the doctor tended to my wounds, my parents stayed by my side. When my mother saw the scar on my abdomen, she broke down in tears, sobbing over how I could have been treated so cruelly. I reached out to comfort her. "Mom, don’t worry. Everyone who has hurt me will pay the price." While I was recovering in the hospital, Lisa sent me another video, flaunting her life once again. This time, it was of James lighting fireworks for her. Meanwhile, James bombarded me with furious text messages, demanding to know why I had "killed" the baby. He called me a cold-hearted and vicious woman. I laughed bitterly to myself. In his mind, I was always the villain, and Lisa was the eternal innocent. I didn’t bother replying. I blocked his number and focused on resting in the hospital. During this time, my family cared for me attentively. I also requested the security footage from my company that showed James assaulting me and handed it over to my lawyer. As the day of their proposal drew

During my time at work, Lisa remained relentless, constantly sending me intimate photos of her and James. She even had the audacity to send me pictures of them in bed. They spent this time traveling to various destinations, with James pulling out all the stops—fireworks displays and every other romantic gesture he had once used to win me over, now lavished on Lisa. Looking at these photos, I felt nothing. Absolutely nothing. Whenever I blocked her number, she’d immediately find another way to send more photos. Her persistence was almost admirable in its absurdity. A few days later, our company had an important business meeting. Thanks to my growing competence, my manager decided to bring me along. Only when we arrived did I realize our client was none other than James. When Lisa saw me, there was a fleeting moment of surprise before her eyes gleamed with disdain. “Well, if it isn’t Kailey,” she sneered. “How do you even have the nerve to show your face in public? What kind

  • The Mistress Came to Kill Me on Our Anniversary Night   Chapter 6

For years after our marriage, I had been a housewife to James, leaving behind many of the skills I had once honed to manage the family business. After the divorce, returning to my family meant starting over, and the first step was relearning everything I had lost.I asked my parents to conceal my identity and joined one of the family-owned companies as an intern, beginning with an entry-level management position. However, the aftermath of the online harassment was far worse than I had anticipated. On my first day, I was immediately ostracized by my colleagues. Gossip about me circulated in whispers that were anything but discreet. Even my manager took pleasure in making my life difficult, assigning me endless tasks that kept me working late into the night. But this was exactly what I needed. I poured all my energy into learning and rebuilding myself, ignoring the social challenges. My only focus was on becoming capable enough to take over the family business as quickly as possi

The insults from the crowd grew even more vicious after hearing her words. “This woman is a total psychopath! Absolutely terrifying! Now she’s trying to retaliate!” “I’ve already called the police! She needs to pay for what she’s done!” “She still has the audacity to stand here? Why hasn’t a car just run her over yet?” Soon, the onlookers weren’t just hurling insults but began throwing garbage at me as well. James stood there with a smug, self-righteous look, his voice dripping with disdain. “Apologize to Lisa right now! Everyone has seen exactly what you’ve done! You can apologize, but only after you kneel and beg forgiveness for killing my child! You’re the worst kind of person! I must’ve been blind to marry someone like you. Let’s get this divorce over with. Right now!” Lisa’s face lit up with satisfaction at his words, her triumphant smirk making her feelings clear. I brushed the trash off my clothes, my expression indifferent. Let her laugh while she still could. We
