Selena didn’t have a choice but to accept Leon’s so-called ground rules. Or rule. His words hurt her, they would hurt anyone. But she took on the pain that they brought.

As an omega, you learned to accept disrespect. Sometimes it would be unprovoked, or maybe a lot of times. But such was life.

It wasn’t fair though, she didn’t choose to be born the way she was. She didn’t get to choose her class in this stupid town. She didn’t get to choose to be an omega or not. It felt like a curse, and to be honest, it shouldn’t have felt this way.

Beta, hybrid, or omega, everyone should be treated the same. They all had the same flesh and bones, so why were things so messed up and classist?

Beta Leon scoffed before walking back into the house, leaving Selena there. She watched him disappear and then sat down again on the stairs.

Gosh, she missed her mom and sister so much. Why was Elijah being so mean to her? Yeah, she had broken his heart and hurt him, but wasn’t kicking her out enough? Wasn’t t

Heart racing, Selena waited with bated breath for the red-haired girl to say something. She kept staring, playing with her fingers. “Naive? I’m being naive?” She sighed. “Look, I’m sorry, Cat. I just have a lot going on,” She began. “But I did nothing wrong to you or to this pack. I wasn’t the one who made Maddox leave Cassie. He did that all by himself. And as much as I wished that I didn’t have feelings for him, I do. And I can’t really change that, can I?”Cat unfolded her arms from her chest and stood up. “Okay,” She said under her breath. “I may have been kind of a b*tch to you,” She confessed. “And I’m sorry. It was just that I really wanted us to finally have a Luna.” “And you guys will eventually have one,” Selena replied. “I’m not saying that it’s going to be me, but I know that the Moon goddess won’t let the pack go with a Luna for any longer.” The red-haired girl smiled and nodded slowly. “So what do you need my help with?” The omega swallowed hard. “Um…I don’t know if

Selena swallowed hard and closed the curtains before walking over to her mom. “What’s going on?” “It’s all over the news, everyone is talking about it,” the woman replied. “The sun is gone.” She furrowed her brows, even more confused. But now worry was filling every part of her. Instead of replying to the woman, she made her way out of the room and down the hallway. She kept walking until she was walking out the front door. As soon as she stepped out, she came to a stop on the lawn and looked up. And her mom was right, there was no sun. It was there, but the thing was that it didn’t look like the sun that they all knew. It did not even look like the moon. It was just…just a ball of darkness. Almost like it was just a black dot. “Oh my god,” She said under her breath. She immediately knew that this had to do with the dark prophecy, and this meant that she needed to decide what she was going to do instead of just running away from the calling that the goddess had placed upon her.

Maddox waited for his beta to tell him the truth; he could already feel the anger rushing through his veins. But he wanted to be a better person; he wanted to try not to live up to the image that the councilmen and the beta had of him being a hothead. But gosh, he knew that it was not going to be easy. Regardless, he wanted to be told the truth. “So uh…yeah, the reason that Selena was admitted to the hospital was that Cassie had tried to kill her by poisoning her with wolfbane,” The beta explained, worry clear in his voice. “But before you go berserk, note that Cass did realize that she had made a mistake, and she didn’t allow Selena to finish the mug of wolfbane. She was even the one who took her to the hospital and saved her life.” “And you think that’s supposed to make it better? Because she took Selena to the hospital and potentially saved her life?” Maddox scoffed, shaking his head. “Leon, Cassie is the reason that Selena was even admitted. She tried to kill her. Why are you t

Leon was now pacing the room as he waited, his phone still glued to his ear. He had told his friend at the hospital to double-check by going to the room that the omega had been in. He didn’t understand how the guy had told him that Selena had been discharged. If that was true, wouldn’t he or the alpha have been told? But again, they had not been the ones who had brought her there. It had been Cassie. “Hello?” The voice came in from the phone. “Leon, are you still there?” “Yeah,” the beta replied. “I’m here. Did you…did you find her?” “No, she’s not in the room you told me to check.” “But maybe she was switched to another room. Have you checked the records?” The guy sighed. “Leon, I have checked. She is in the records. Selena Crawford, right? The reason she was admitted is hidden for some reason, but she is in the system. But it’s also saying that she was discharged a few hours ago.” “Sh*t,” He cursed under his breath. “Alright, man. Thanks.” “Anytime.” Leon ended the call and

The room got quiet for a few seconds, and everyone seemed to be in their heads. Maddox’s mind was racing, and he was trying to figure out how he was going to save his pack while at the same time, he was thinking about how he was supposed to save the girl he had fallen in love with. He knew that Selena was the white-haired Luna. And that made him happy and so very proud of her. But the thing here was that he also knew that she was far from ready when it came to fighting or protecting the pack. Now that he could finally be with her in public and all that, he had to worry about losing her in battle. “We need to start training Selena,” He broke the silence, running his hand through his hair. He sniffled dryly and locked eyes with his beta. “Yeah, but you and I know that she does not want to accept that she’s the white-haired Luna,” Leon replied. “She does not even believe in the Moon goddess.” “What?” The councilmen all said almost at the same time. Then Vance spoke up. “That’s insa

“Hello?” Selena answered the call, her heart thumping in her chest as she waited for a response. “Where are you?” The blonde girl asked in a monotone, but there was a small hint of emotion in her voice, though. A very small hint. “Um…” The omega adjusted herself on the bed. “Why do you want to know?” She chuckled weakly. “What do you mean by that?” “You seriously expect me to tell you where I am when you literally just tried to kill me?” Selena did not know where the confidence was coming from, but she knew that she needed to say this. “You poisoned me, Cassie.” “I know, and I’m…I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I did that,” She replied. “I may be a b*tch, but I’m not a murderer. I swear.” It went quiet for a few seconds, and then the omega sighed before finally answering the question, “I’m not at the Royal Estates. I’m with my mom.” “Oh…but I thought you weren’t allowed to go over there?” “I worked things out with Elijah.” “I see,” She replied in a breathy way. “So um…like I said, I’
