His touch.

It felt magical. Selena closed her eyes and basked in the feeling. It felt like she was floating on clouds, like she was high out of her mind.

Was this how drugs felt? Was the alpha now her drug?

When she opened her eyes, she saw that he was much closer to her, his eyes staring deeply into hers. Every second felt charged with heat, and her heart pounded so hard.

She wanted to move in and close the distance between them so badly. She wanted to see how he tasted. She wanted to touch him, feeling his muscles…his body.

But she thought about Cassie and she knew immediately that this was wrong. Not only because she was an omega and he was the alpha, but because he was in a relationship.

Selena didn’t want to be that kind of girl, you know? She hated cheaters, so she was most definitely not going to let herself be the reason Maddox became one.

She knew she would hate herself if she let him kiss her, even though she so badly just wanted him to do that. Every cell in her body was

Selena watched her mom sit on the couch, but as for her, she did not want to sit. She preferred standing. Her anxiety was just way too much right now. She glanced over at her sister, and the little girl was asleep, snoring lightly. The omega smiled before turning her attention back to the doctor that she had never seen before. But the woman looked trusting enough. And besides, she trusted Elijah and knew that the guy wouldn’t allow just anybody to touch Lily if they were not certified or good enough. “You don’t want to sit?” Her mom asked her, and she was pulled out of her thoughts. Selena shook her head and flashed a small nervous smile before hugging herself. “No, I’m okay.” Her voice was soft. She looked at the doctor again, waiting for the lady to begin. “So, um…from Lily’s medical history, she is a very sickly child. She has been sick from the moment she was born. And everything that was tried to help her to get better did not work. All you guys have been doing for these pas

Selena was on her feet in no time, fear dancing in her heart. “Is it Lily?” She asked. Why wouldn’t she? It was the first thing that struck her mind. The very thought of something happening to her little sister had a chill running down her spine. She could not even bear to think about it. So she waited with bated breath to hear what her mother had to say. “It is,” The woman said, then a small smile corrupted her lips. “She’s doing better, Selena. They finally found what’s wrong with her, and they’re treating her accordingly right now. She’s responding to treatment already.” Tears made her eyes look glossy. But Selena knew that those were tears of joy; she could feel them as well. She could feel her eyes burning, relief filling her immediately. She let out a breath that she did not know that she was holding, chuckling in disbelief. “Are you serious?” Her mom did not even respond; the woman just pulled her in for a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around her. Before she knew it, she c

An hour later, Cassie had packed all her things. She had expected to only have packed a suitcase, but forgot to remember that she had loads of stuff. So there were actually three instead of just one. The alpha and beta helped her get her things to one of the cars. When they were placed in the trunk, she got hugged by each of them before getting into the vehicle and driving away. As she drove away, she could not help but glance back and feel a lingering feeling of sadness. It was like glancing back at a part of her that was dying right before her very eyes. A tear slipped down her face, and then she turned her attention back to the road. She drove in silence, her thoughts jumping all over the place. She knew where she was going, and it took her not too long to get there. When she had arrived, she parked in the compound and killed the engine before getting out. Her heart thumped in her chest, and she felt a bit cold. Then her phone started ringing. She answered after pulling it out

The words of the beta struck the alpha to his heart. He stood there, breathing heavily as he mentally chewed on them. He was not this person; he had never hit a girl in his life, and he certainly was not going to start now. And he knew that if Leon did not stop him, he would have. That was just how angry and hurt he was. That was just how much pain and rage he had in him at the moment. “Just stop this, Maddox,” Leon continued, taking a step closer to him. “I know…I know that she messed up. I know that what she did was awful, but she knows that, too. That’s why she’s here; she’s packing her things to leave. You won’t ever have to see her again.” “What…?” The alpha asked, taken aback by this. Then he peeled his eyes off the beta and looked over to the blonde girl. “You’re leaving?” He asked, his full attention was on her now. And all that anger and rage was now fleeing away. He was looking at someone whom he once considered a good friend, someone who was part of his life. Not because

Maddox was done talking with his mom; the woman had told him a lot. But honestly, she had been really vague about her whole addiction thing. Nevertheless, he did not push her. He felt like she was going to open up when she was ready. A part of him felt like she was still using, and that broke him. But at the same time, he was just glad to have her back. Sighing, he led the woman to one of the guest rooms, and as she was settling in, he left her alone. He wanted to talk to Leon about everything, including how the omega was going to be trained. Like, he wanted to know whether he and the beta were going to train her, or if they were going to have to get Axiel to do that. The guy was basically one of the best trainers in the pack, so yeah. Maddox walked down the hallway, feeling like the weight on his shoulders was lighter now. As he headed to the living room, he suddenly stopped, furrowing his brows as his heart dropped. Something stopped him…he could smell a familiar perfume. It wa

Maddox still wanted to be pissed; he needed a place for those emotions to go. But truthfully, after hearing what his mom had explained, he sort understood why the woman never came back to the pack. “You could have at least had someone bring me to you.” His voice was soft and filled with sadness. He could feel tears filling his eyes, but he tried his best to hold them back. The woman locked eyes with him and smiled sadly. “I wasn’t fit to be a mother, Maddox. I wasn’t.” She sighed through her nostrils. “And the pack needed a leader, it needed an alpha.”“You could at least let me know that you were alive,” He said under his breath. “Even Leon knew.” He scoffed, looking away and then staring at his hands on his lap. “If you knew, you would have come to find me,” She replied. “And you would not have become the strong and independent young man that you are now. You literally rose above it all, Maddox. You should be proud of yourself. You did it all by yourself.” That’s the thing, the
