"For the crimes levelled against you, Elena Snow." I hear a voice filter in my ears as I slowly opened my eyes.

"Do you," It continues, "On the moon goddess's name plead guilty?"

A sharp sting pierced through my ribs as I coughed, spitting out a thick clot of blood. I was on knees, bounded by sliver shackles which burned my wrists and ankles and my whole body ached as I lifted my head, taking in the sights of the men before me.

Elder Lan, flanked by the six sitters of the kingdom. The council of Elders.

One seat was empty. My seat.

"I said, Do you plead guilty?" The voice which I now recognize to be Elder Lan's demanded.

A hysterical laughter from me echoed through the hall as my eyes scanned each and everyone of them, a burning rage surging through my veins, wanting to shread them to pieces.

They had betrayed me. Now they had the audacity to charge me of treason?

"I am going to ask you this one more time, Elena." Lan loomed, eyes staring at me with cold indifference.

"Do. You.

Lilith peered at me like I had just said the strangest thing she had ever heard.“Poison ivy?" She muttered, staring at me in disbelief. "Why would you ask such? Only a witch can forge such concoctions and witches are extinct.""Look, it is a long story." I say, rubbing my forehead with my fingers. I spend the next few minutes giving her a breakdown of Morgana and Rebecca's sorcery dealings."Wow," She blurted, "That's a lot of conspiracy going on."She falls to her knees and tilts Morgana's pale face.I looked away in irritation.Morgana's veins had gone black, bulging against her skin like parasites feeding off energy from a host."Poison Ivy and Shadow rot shares a peculiar trait." Lilith finally said. "They corrupt the host, make them weak and feed off the host's energy."She continued, " It is said that witches were able to forge poison ivy with the use of Shadow rot. If you are able to kill off the rot, you can save the person infected and there is only one way."I peered at her

My head spun as my eyes flickered open. A strong scent of incense hit my nose, and my vision blurred as I lifted myself slowly.I scanned the room. A sharp pain piercing through my skull and I groaned, quickly placing a palm on my head. The room was warm, mostly because of the four fire torches that hung on the wall. A table stood before me with several scrolls scattered across it, and on the wall beside me hung a robe and a sword — a robe and a sword I could recognize anywhere."You are awake," a voice suddenly said behind me, and I turned sharply.A woman stood, peering at me with a mischievous smirk as she leaned against the wall. Her dark hair waved seamlessly down her waist, and her gazelle-like eyes peered at me with charm — a charm that only someone from royalty could possess."You can stop staring now," she mused, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I know I am beautiful."My gaze fluttered, and I cleared my throat."I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to..."I paused.Wait. Didn’t she just

A huge gust of light twirled around me, throwing the cave into chaos as lucy hung suspended in the air, growling and cursing.I could feel her bones crack, her heartbeat dropping with each passing second. The dark weaves grew stronger, overpowering the lights as they formed into shadowy mists.Lucy screamed as one of the weaves formed into a sharp dagger and pierced into her chest."Help me, Amara!" She cried as the weaves dug into her body. "I can't take this anymore."I panicked, feeling Lucy's life slip away as the weaves grew stronger.I didn't know what to do. This was my first time wolfing out fully. I couldn't control Lucy under normal circumstances, let alone now her life was in danger."Hang on, Lucy." I say within her, looking around the cave when my gaze falls on it,The necklace. It must have snapped when Lucy morphed out.Shit! The necklace lay on the floor, at the farthest part of the cave. Lucy and I were still suspended in the air. There was no way I could reach it."Yo

"Arghh!!!" we screamed as we fell through the dark void and landed face-first on the hard concrete.I groaned softly and turned onto my back, fluttering my eyes open to the tiny streams of sunlight that seeped in from above the cave."Shit. Where are we?" Morgana muttered, standing up and staggering slightly as she placed a hand on her head."I... I don't know," I replied, my head dizzy as I slowly helped myself to my feet, leaning on the cave wall for support.Morgana inhaled sharply and glared at me."This is all your fault," she snapped, glaring daggers at me."My fault?" I replied, stunned at the girl’s audacity."Yes! Your. Fault," she snarled. "If you had just minded your business, we wouldn't be here in the first place."I scoffed and rolled my eyes."Maybe if you hadn’t been so stupid to take the Poison Ivy," I grunted, "we wouldn’t actually be here in the first place."Morgana let out a gasp, staring at me in disbelief."You actually want to pin this on me?" she asked.I arch

Amara’s POVThe sky was clear. Too clear for a morning like this. A mournful stillness hung in the air as if the heavens had held their breath. The sun had risen pale and the trees stood frozen in solemn reverence. I should have found comfort in the serenity, but all I felt was dread. Afraid of what laid ahead of me.We walked in a line as Morgana and I led the procession. Both dressed in plain white tunics and scarves. No jewelry. No markings. No colour.Lucy stirred softly inside me. Solemn.I didn’t need to hear her to know how she felt . How she dreaded what might become. "You’re not alone, Amara." She voiced. "I'll fight with you."I nodded, giving a light smile to her comforting words. But was that be enough? Was she enough? The procession came to a stop at the base of the jagged hill, where the Cave sat on.One of the elders stepped forward—Elder Tirajo, his weathered face cold and stern as his white robe fluttered against the cold wind.He lifted his hands and muttered an i
