FAZER LOGINChapter 6 – He knows
I was standing at the gates of the Nightfang Pack once again. The earth seemed to tremble beneath my feet, mirroring the storm inside my chest. I knew exactly what was supposed to happen tonight. Because I had already lived the next ten years. And died at the end of them. “Come on! Let’s go in,” Elara chirped, tugging excitedly at my sleeve. The deep crimson gown clung to my body like spilled blood, its jeweled embroidery suddenly feeling unbearably heavy. Every step toward the manor felt like walking back into my own grave. One thought echoed relentlessly through my mind: Do not cross paths with Vaughn Nightfang. Not tonight. Not in this life. I didn’t know how I would avoid him, but I had to. If fate wanted to repeat itself, then I would fight fate itself. “Diana! This way.” Father’s voice pulled me from my thoughts. I forced my feet to move and stepped through the iron gates of the Nightfang territory. A sharp northern wind swept over my skin. Familiar. Too familiar. The scent of pine, cold stone, and wolf surrounded me, and memories clawed their way back—laughing beside Vaughn in these gardens, dancing beneath chandeliers, whispering vows beneath a Blood Moon. My heart tightened painfully. The grand manor rose before me, illuminated by hundreds of silver lanterns. Music drifted through the open doors, mingling with the scents of dozens of wolves gathered for the annual Moonveil Gathering. Alphas from neighboring territories. Future mates. Future enemies. And somewhere among them… Vaughn. My eyes searched the crowded hall instinctively. Nothing. No towering black-haired Alpha. No golden eyes. Only the faint scent of my mate lingering in the air. If I hadn’t known the future, my wolf would have run toward that scent without hesitation. But not this time. This time I would survive. “Diana, come meet the Alphas from the eastern packs,” Father said proudly, gesturing toward a group of wolves. Mother stood beside him, elegant and smiling. I forced a polite expression and joined their conversation. The Alphas spoke of trade routes, hunting grounds, and alliances, but their words blurred together. My wolf paced restlessly inside me, whining for the mate whose scent haunted the room. He isn’t here, I told myself. Maybe the past has already changed. Relief loosened my chest for the first time since waking up in this impossible second life. If tonight unfolded differently, perhaps everything could be different. Perhaps Vanessa— The thought stabbed through me so sharply I nearly lost my composure. I needed air. “Excuse me,” I murmured. Mother noticed immediately. “Diana, where are you going?” “Just to the balcony. I’ll be back soon.” She hesitated, then nodded. I gathered my skirts and slipped away before anyone could stop me. The upper corridors were quieter, lined with moonlit windows and silver tapestries bearing the Nightfang crest. Every corner felt achingly familiar, as though the manor itself remembered me. That frightened me more than the crowd below. I stepped onto the grand balcony overlooking the gardens. Cold night air rushed against my face. Then it hit me. His scent. Stronger than before. Vaughn. My knees weakened instantly. The balcony was empty. I looked around sharply. Nothing moved except the curtains stirred by the wind. Yet the scent wrapped around me so completely that my wolf surged forward in wild excitement. Calm down. I gripped the stone railing until my knuckles whitened. He can’t be here. He would have sensed me. Wouldn’t he? I forced myself to breathe slowly. There was no answering pull through the mate bond, no overwhelming wave of recognition. Strange. In my previous life, the moment I stepped onto this balcony our bond had ignited like wildfire. Tonight… silence. A terrible possibility slithered through me. What if Vaughn remembered too? And what if he was avoiding me just as desperately as I was avoiding him? I leaned farther over the railing, trying to steady my racing thoughts. That was when I saw him. Far below, beyond the lantern-lit fountain, a lone figure stood at the end of the garden path. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Black hair stirred by the wind. Vaughn Nightfang. My mate. The sight of him stole the breath from my lungs. He stood motionless beneath the silver lights, his face hidden by shadow, yet I knew him instantly. My wolf whimpered with aching recognition. No. I took a step back. This was exactly what I had wanted to avoid. As if sensing me, Vaughn slowly lifted his head. Golden eyes met mine across the distance. The world stopped. The music vanished. The wind vanished. Only those eyes remained. My heart pounded so violently it hurt. Run. I turned sharply to leave— And froze. Someone was standing behind me. A man dressed entirely in black, as silent as the night itself. I had heard no footsteps, no movement, no scent until this moment. Crimson eyes streaked with molten gold watched me calmly. The forbidden Alpha. The same man from the forest. Cold terror flooded my veins. “How are you here?” I whispered. His gaze flickered briefly toward the garden below where Vaughn still stood. “Because you came back,” he said softly. My blood turned to ice. He knows. “Who are you? How do you know all this? A faint smile touched his lips. “I know more than you could even think of.” Before I could move, he stepped closer and pressed something cold into my hand. A silver key. Ancient. Its surface was carved with the symbol of a crescent moon pierced by a wolf fang. “Hide this from Vaughn,” he murmured. I stared at the key. “What is it?” “The reason they hunted you.” A chill swept through the balcony. “They?” His expression darkened. “The people who killed you.” My breath hitched. Down in the garden, Vaughn suddenly moved. Not toward the manor. Toward the balcony. Toward me. Panic surged through me. When I looked back, the forbidden Alpha was already fading into the shadows. I couldn't even see his face properly in the dark. “Wait! You didn't tell me your name? " He paused only long enough to whisper one final word. " Lucien. ” Then he vanished. Completely. As though he had never been there. Lucien. I heard the name before. But where? I couldn't think further. Footsteps echoed rapidly up the corridor. Vaughn’s scent flooded the balcony. I closed my fingers around the silver key, my pulse roaring in my ears. And for the first time since waking up in the past, I realized something far more terrifying than reliving my old life. The game had already begun before I arrived.Chapter 46 - The Prophecy of the MoonbornDiana's P.O.V.The moment I landed on the broken stones that had collapsed into the underground passage, the stench hit me. Blood mixed with something else, like rotten earth. Something foul and ancient that had been trapped beneath the temple for far too long. But then another scent reached me. One I would have recognized anywhere.Vaughn... My mate. His scent was buried beneath blood and pain, but it was there. I realised he was close, causing my heart to slam against my ribs. Every instinct inside me screamed at me to run toward him.My silver-white fur began to glow again. The power beneath my skin stirred. It moved through my body like a living storm, crawling beneath my fur and gathering around my bones.I took a step forward. Then a voice stopped me. 'No.'I froze. Because I knew that voice. I had heard it before. Inside my dreams. Inside my memories. Inside the darkness that had followed me through every door I had opened.'You shouldn
Chapter 45 - When Her Power StruckVaughn's P.O.V.For one terrifying moment, I could do nothing but stare at Diana. She stood on the other side of the Ancient Wolves, surrounded by the ruins of the temple, her silver-white fur glowing so brightly that the darkness seemed to retreat from her.I had seen Diana's power before. But this wasn't the Diana I remembered. Something about her had changed, something I didn't understand yet. Her presence felt heavier, older, almost impossible to comprehend. The silver light radiating from her body seemed to pulse with a life of its own, and even from where I stood, I could feel the pressure of it against my skin.I didn't understand what had happened to her. I didn't know how much stronger she had become when I was gone. And I certainly didn't know what she was capable of now.But I knew what the Ancient Wolves were capable of.They had tortured me without effort. They had restrained me as though I were nothing more than an ordinary wolf. They
Chapter 44 - Between Her and the Ancient WolvesVaughn's P.O.V.“Diana!”I screamed her name until my throat burned, throwing every ounce of strength I had left into the silver chains binding me.I pulled against the shackles around my wrists with everything I had. Then I planted my feet against the stone floor and used my entire body weight to wrench the chains around my ankles. The silver had already cut deep into my skin, and blood coated my wrists, making them slick enough that I tried desperately to twist my hands free.It didn't work. For werewolves, silver wasn't merely a weakness. When we were completely restrained by it, we were almost helpless.Almost. But not tonight.I gritted my teeth and pulled again, harder than before. The chains rattled violently, and the wall behind me groaned.I could feel the metal restraints digging deeper into my flesh, but I refused to stop. I kept shaking the chains, twisting my body and forcing whatever strength remained inside me into every m
Chapter 43 - The beginning of the wrathDiana's P.O.V.If my powers had been able to show me what would happen after a certain decision in my past life, then perhaps they could do the same in this life.I had to try.I needed to know what was waiting for us—for me, Vaughn, and Lucien.I reached deep inside myself and searched for that strange, ancient force that had always seemed to exist just beyond my grasp. This time, however, I wasn't reaching for it blindly. I had already touched it before, had already felt what it was capable of, and somehow that made it easier to summon. The moment I called upon it, my entire body seemed to catch fire.Silver light erupted around me, brighter than anything I had ever seen, until the temple disappeared completely. And then I saw him.Vaughn.My Vaughn. He was suspended in the air, bound in heavy silver chains that cut into his wrists and ankles. His head hung forward, blood running down his chest from the deep wound across his throat. Beneath hi
Chapter 42 - The Betrayal Diana's P.O.V. The darkness disappeared, and I was no longer standing at the edge of the cliff. Suddenly, the warmth of the afternoon sun touched my skin as the scent of silver roses drifted through the air. Somewhere nearby, a stream flowed through the royal gardens, its gentle sound blending with the distant voices of servants moving through the palace grounds. I looked down at myself. A long white dress covered my body, embroidered with delicate silver patterns that shimmered beneath the sunlight. For a moment, I simply stood there, trying to understand what I was seeing and why everything felt so real. Then I heard a familiar voice. "You've been staring at that page for five minutes." I turned and found Vaughn sitting beneath the shade of a large tree, his sword resting beside him as he watched me with an amused expression. I glanced down at the book in my hands quickly before replying, "I have not." "You have." "I was just thinking." "No, you we
Chapter 41 - The Game of BetrayalDiana's P.O.V.I stood at the edge of the cliff, staring at the endless ocean stretching beneath the darkening sky. The wind swept through my hair, carrying the scent of salt and the distant forest behind me. I still couldn't understand why this place felt so familiar. Or why my heart felt so strangely peaceful whenever I stood here. This was the same cliff where I had once stood in Lucien's arms. The memory of his embrace still lingered somewhere inside me, warm and painfully beautiful. But now I knew that this wasn't the present.I was just remembering. But I didn't know what exactly I was remembering yet.Slowly I turned my eyes towards the place where he was still sitting quietly.Vaughn.He was sitting alone a short distance away, near the edge of the cliff, his back resting against a large stone as he stared silently at the sea. And no matter how much I looked at him he looked lost in his thoughts. There was no sword drawn, no guards surrounding
