KAEL

My nightmares always started the same way, but this one was different. So different.

I stood in the ruins of my pack, commander of the army of Stormrider, sweating, wounded.

The air was thick with smoke and the metallic stench of blood- both wet and dried.

Around me, bodies of my men were scattered all over the ground like broken dolls.

Some had lost their heads, some hands, some legs. Intestines spilled out of armors.

Their eyes were all fixed on one person; me. Their great commander who couldn’t save them.

The screams of my soldiers lingered like ghosts in the wind.

I gripped my sword tighter, my hands were slick with blood. Something dark was rising in the shadows ahead of me. Whatever had murdered tens of thousands of my men was coming, and it was coming for me.

My knees trembled violently, yet I fought the urge to fall to the ground as it quaked beneath my boots.

Thunder rumbled across the pitch-black sky, followed by a strike of lighting. I tried to swallow, but t

ELORA Is it much of a rejection if your heart still craves for another? “Do you miss him?” I had asked Sierra as I sat on my bed, flipping through the pages of one of the many books on my shelf. “I cannot say for sure.” She replied to me. We had started talking again after she regained her strength. She was a strong wolf, but she always used up most of her energy quickly when it came to saving me. “We were mates, and he was the first one I felt, but I do not think we were ever close to him. It doesn’t feel like we were ever one with him. Unlike…”“Ryker.” I said the name before her. She purred softly within me. She missed him too. I wasn’t even sure how long it had been since we last saw him. I wasn’t certain we would ever see him again. It was only a matter of time until Stormrider fought them. My father had refused to let me stay around the soldiers. He had claimed I didn’t want to be part of the bloodshed, so he would keep me as far away from it as possible. It was all ove

KAEL War would never be my first turning point, but if the wolves of the south wanted to be rebels, then I would treat them like rebels. The first time Varek Valewind had brought up the topic of fighting them, I reasoned with Elora and asked him to send them a notice. We could talk like men, the Veylard bastard and I. VAREK told me he had sent it. He also spoke before the council on how he sent the message three times, and the three times he did, he was ignored. It told me everything I needed to know. They wanted a fight. What sort of a man would I be if I didn’t give them exactly what they wanted? I looked over my armor one last time, smoothing my hands over the fine gold. It was heavier than usual. I hadn’t worn one in a long time, and it had been my dream as alpha king to never have to wear one, but Ryker Veylard pushed me to the wall successfully, and I would be a coward not to respond. I stood before the mirror, tightening the last strap across my chest. My reflection st

RYKER It was drizzling outside. The clouds were a thick shade of gray, heavy and ready to pour down on us anytime soon. I sat still and stared at my reflection, my fingers twitching slightly on the edge of the wooden table. Why in the goddess’ name were my hands trembling? Why couldn’t I seem to keep my fingers still? I should’ve been ready. I wanted…no, needed to feel more alive. I’d waited years for this, dreamt of it. This was everything I had ever trained for. What I went to bed thinking of, and the first thought that crossed my mind whenever I opened my eyes. And yet…I still wasn’t dressed.A bitter chuckle ripped from my throat. It was an irony, wasn’t it? I had spent all these years fantasizing of the moment I would finally get to put a sword through Varek Valewind’s heart. The goddess had given me a head start, yet I couldn’t find it in me to put some fucking clothes on. Did it matter? I wasn’t planning to fight as a man. My skin would rip into fur, my bones would br

  • The Mute Luna Bride    Rejected…again

ELORA Morning came, and with it the never ending gust of sadness and…nothing. Just a pure nothingness that left me questioning everything I had ever known to be true about myself, about my home. Did I ever belong here, because it never felt like I did. And I knew I had said it a lot of times, but something always seemed to remind me. Today, it was the third summon to the council that left me feeling like an impostor. I was only there to find out ways I could help Ryker and his people stay safe. The guard read out the words from a scroll with a seal that brought bad memories. The crest of Stormrider. The moment I saw it, my stomach twisted into knots. It was the thing that caused me to end up here. Ryker had found the mercenaries with the scroll and didn’t believe I was innocent. I pushed the thought out of my mind and thanked the guard when he was done reading. Tamika stood in the corner, watching me dress in silence. Her gaze was focused on my belly, and I didn’t need to look

AUTHOR Enough was…had to be enough. Athlea Valewind couldn’t take it anymore. A lot of things had gotten out of hand, so many things they had planned to stop were still existing, and she had to put a stop to it at that very second. She was tired. So tired of sitting by and doing nothing. The door creaked shut behind them, thick and heavy, muffling the grand hallway outside. Varek’s quarters, lit by a low fire and the faint flicker of enchanted candles, felt smaller tonight. Athlea didn’t wait. She had managed to keep silent the entire walk here, and she wasn’t sure her words would be able to remain tucked in her tongue for one more second, or that if it did, she wouldn’t burst open and die from it. She ripped her shawl off her shoulders, tossing it onto a nearby chair with a flick of frustration. Her footsteps echoed with fury as she turned to him.“I’ve had enough, Varek. I have had enough. First, she’s the silver wolf, and now she can speak? She can bloody speak”Varek sighed

  • The Mute Luna Bride    They would be safe

ELORA That evening, I snuck out of the palace as soon as the sun kissed the horizon. It was the point where they were switching shifts, and I had exactly two minutes to make it out of the palace unnoticed. Being noticed would bring questions, and questions drew attention.Attention was the last thing I needed. Azrion’s home looked different. The scent of mold and decay was no longer the first thing to greet me. The air was clearer. The floor had been swept. And when I knocked once, he opened. I assumed it took him less time to walk to the door than normal. The man who stood before me had washed his hair. His clothes, though still plain, were cleaner. His beard was trimmed, and though his teeth still had their rot, he looked like a cleaner man. I couldn’t help but smile at him. “Princess, you’re here.” he said, voice trembling.I opened my mouth. “Are you really going to pretend you couldn’t see me coming with your sorcerer magic?”He chuckled. “I must have you know, princess,
