Welcome, dear readers.
Let us begin the tale of Diya McClain, our brown skinned gentle she wolf.
Being Diya McClain was not hard.
As an only child who lives with her abusive father, she certainly had time to herself.
He blamed Diya for her mother's death.
She had saved Diya's life and Diya had lost her voice for weeks after her death.
When she regained her voice, she decided to become a selective mute.
Only because she knew that if she spoke, she would not be heard.
And then, there was the great war that had happened among werewolves, vampires and mundanes (humans).
The mundanes captured all pregnant werewolves and injected them with a special substance with the aim of killing off the young ones.
Some died but others survived with different defects and disabilities.
The humans also poisoned the vampires who also lost the power to read minds.
Diya's mother was pregnant with her at the time of the war. By the time the war was over, Diya had been born a very quiet girl.
Add that to her mother's death and years of abuse and our little shewolf had trisfully shut herself out and kept her mouth close.
If someone was there to care for her, she would break down and talk.
She had told the same thing to everyone who asked about the accident.
Diya told them she remembered nothing.
She lied.
Ofcourse she remembered it like it was yesterday.
She was fifteen when it happened.
Now at the age of twenty one, she did menial jobs to get by everyday.
She cleaned people's houses, lawns, watered the gardens, helped people go on errands.
No, Diya was not an omega.
Her father was a member of the pack who does no work. He told Diya he had lost the will to live after his mate died.
So Diya began to cater for him immediately after her mom died. He stayed at home all day and slept. When he wasn't sleeping, he was drunk.
It was a rare and hard thing for werewolves to get drunk but her father made it possible.
He'd drink carton after carton of alcoholic drinks then the next day, Diya would clean up his vomit.
Because she was mute, she couldn't get work sometimes.
Whenever Diya couldn't bring money home, her father would hit her.
No one knew about this except her best friend, Poppy Winters.
Poppy had threatened to report to the alpha but Diya would beg her everytime not to as she thought she understood that her father's pain was making him act like that.
The last conversation about this matter had made poppy yell at Diya.
"Shut up Diya, losing his mate doesn't give him the right to treat you like that!".
Poppy was an only child too but her mother died after giving birth to her, her father died before she was born.
She lived with her only relative, her grandmother. A sweet old woman with no mate or children.
Everyone calls her Abuela.
Poppy's father was Abuela's only child.
The Starlight pack was filled with different and weird personalities.
Diya was known as the mute girl who killed her mother.
That's what her father had told them and they believed a 41 year old man over a 15 year old mute.
Well, Diya wanted to talk and prove herself but she realized it would be useless.
Whether Diya wanted to admit it or not, it was clear abuse made her a select mute.
According to her, People are ignorant.
They believe what they want to believe, what they wish to believe, what they choose to believe.
They all believed her clumsiness led to her mother's death.
She was cast out.
Not literally though.
When she couldn't get food, she'd go to Poppy's house. Poppy told her to move in with them but Diya refused.
Who will take care of her dad if she left?.
Whoever said being Diya wasn't hard?.
That's a lie.
"Diya!. Where the fuck are you?".
Diya ran into the living room and ducked to avoid the incoming shoe. It missed her head and landed on the couch.
"Where is my food?!".
"If your mother was alive, she would have provided my food".
"Where is my dinner?".
Diya ran into the kitchen and quickly set up the table while ignoring the insults. Her father was murmuring to himself and she knew he was about to sleep soon.
"Stupid bitch".
"Killed my mate"."Destroyed my life"."useless thing".After leaving his food close to him, Diya went to her basement.
Yes, she lived in the basement and It was not very fancy.
A dark basement crawling with insects couldn't exactly be called fancy.
Somehow, Diya's wolf, River was mute too.
She spoke only to Diya who could feel her emotions but she has never spoken to other wolves.
It was like Diya and her wolf isolated themselves from the world.
The question was how long was this going to go on?.
River wouldn't keep quiet about finding her mate.
Diya couldn't help but hope her mate would love her.
Our mate won't condemn us, River had said to her.
Diya waited until her father fell asleep then she cleaned the living room and went to poppy's house.
"Diya tesoro!".
"Hi Abuela", Diya signed at her and kissed her cheek as she walked into the house.
"How are you darling?".
"I'm fine Abuela and you?".
"My back is killing me and my legs hurt", she signed back with a small laugh.
Diya laughed with her.
"Didn't poppy give you a massage?".
"She did but these bones are just too stubborn"."D!", Poppy yelled.
"Hey Pops, how are you?"."Fine. Abuela, i got your fruits", Poppy said to her grandmother.
"Thank you novio", Abuela replied."Diya?".
"Yes Abuela?"."What's wrong with your arm?", Abuela squinted her eyes as she asked Diya.
"It's nothing", Diya smiled and pulled her sleeve lower.
"Tell me dear".
"I only fell and scraped it".Abuela didn't look like she believed Diya but she let it go.
"If It's alright with you Abuela, i would like to stay the night".
"Yes, you can tesoro".
Poppy stared at Diya but said nothing.
Diya gave her the 'drop it' look and poppy looked away.
Knowing poppy, Diya was absolutely sure Poppy won't drop it.
Diya sighed.
She knew she was in for a long night.
"Good morning Abuela"."Good morning tesoro".Abuela loved staying outdoors. There was this big apple tree with big fruits and a nice shade. She loved to spend her time there reading and knitting."How was your night?"."It was splendid", Diya smiled genuinely.
Diya shut her eyes tightly and groaned.Birds were chirping above her and she could tell she was deep in the forest without opening her eyes. She was closer to nature now.She turned her body around and realized she wasn't on the cold ground, she was ontop of something, probably a body.Diya opened her eyes to look at the body underneath her only for her to realize she was naked, her
The air was heavy. It reeked of anger and disappointment, surprise and guilt.Diya stared at them as she kept her mouth shut. She was starting to think Amyntas forgot his eyes on her.She looked away and he sighed. He looked at her in d
The young Alpha stared at his younger brother. His little brother was smiling widely at him, standing next to a very pretty lady. "Good evening Alpha", the lady greeted. "Hello there", Alpha Calihan replied with one of his own infamous smiles. The lady blushed as his brother, Carlos held on to her hand. "Brother", Carlos greeted. "Little brother", Calihan replied.
"Akakios", Diya groaned as she shook Akakios' tail. The aforementioned naga flicked his tail in Diya's direction which made the werewolf move backwards. "Pesky fly", Akakios muttered in his sleep. Diya frowned. She was not a fly!. She climbed on his tail and hit his chest gently. "Akakios, I'm hungry". Ever since the incident with the hunters, the naga brothers banned Diya from hunting alone.
It had been eight months since Calihan found out he had no mate. Eight months of torture. Eight months of pure agony. "Calihan, you have to snap out of this. People say the Alpha loses himself after losing his mate but you don't have to be one of those alphas", his mother spoke. "I am one of those alphas, mother. I lost my mate, the only soul that can bring out the best in me". "A mate doesn't bring out the best in you, they only help you stay at being the best of yourself". "It's no use", Calihan groaned. His Beta, Rajesh came into his room but
After Diya finished explaining her story to Calihan, he had told her to go take a bath while he prepared something for her to eat.Diya, filled with happiness, smiled and nodded her head at him."I'm so happy you're here with me", he said with a smile.Likewise, Diya thought. Calihan kissed her cheek and left. Diya smiled widely and River was happy. They were content. They had found their mate, by sheer luck and he believed she didn't kill her father.Alpha Calihan was perfect. She could already see herself falling in love with him.Diya went into her mate's bathroom to do her business. After bathing, she wrapped his green towel around her waist. When Diya had first arrived, her initial thought was that she could manage with Poppy till she got a job to settle then go mate hunting. She never thought she would meet her mate so quickly, much more be mated to an Alpha.Guess fate smiled on her. She picked out an armless dress from her bag and set it on the bed. She let the towel drop
"Who are you and how did you get this?", he questioned authoratively. He fingered the locket as Diya answered, very frightened. "It belongs to my mother"."You're Lena's daughter?", the man looked surprised. Diya nodded her head."Diya?".She looked back at the voice that had called her name and the dragon behind her had changed into a young man. She nodded her head again, less afraid now. "Where are you going?", the older man asked. "Nowhere. I'm just going wherever my legs take me". "Malachi, take her to your sisters and meet me at the supernatural meeting", the older man said to the younger one. "Yes, father".They both shifted into dragons and the father flew away, giving Diya one last lingering look. Diya then realized something. The man had said Lena was his sister. That meant-That man was her uncle and this young man was her cousin. Dragons. Her mother's family were dragons. Wow. "How will i get on your back?", she asked the young dragon who replied her by carrying
