Forty-Four

The road was dark and there was snow everywhere. Sean drove quietly knowing Christmas was around the corner. 

His mind drifted to a lot of places. He still could not forgive himself for her death but he wouldn't let the guilt eat away his remaining time on earth.

Time and time again, he asked himself what would have been different if he hadn't sacrificed them.

Perhaps, they would still live in hiding, haunting, and taunting his every move while he kept lying to everyone that mattered to him.

Sean chuckled darkly. He was willing to face the truth and say that nothing ever mattered to him or rather no one.

Sean Durango looked out for himself only and no one else.
