Chapter 24. The Complicated West

The long journey from the Langston palace into the Western region takes almost two days. It was tough to be on a voyage reckoning about what I declared to her when I left. What if she leaves? Then I would be left alone for the rest of my life. It would mean to the pack that their Prince was rejected by his mate. Am I going to find another one or is she the only one for me?
I gave her the final decision on the fate of our love, if she leave for the city, I would still keep her safe by sending the royal pack warriors around her for protection. My enemies haven't all vanished, I knew there are more of them out there. Waiting to get their hands on the only weakness that I have.

* Ashley *I am not sure what woke me up but I just suddenly rise from the bed and look around me. At first, the surroundings are silent. But after a few minutes have passed I can smell the scent of something so intoxicating. Musky vanilla with wood sage, it goes deep into my nostrils and inside my lungs through the veins of my body. I feel the need to find out where it is.I have never felt something so potent and wild, it almost made my heart, ache with a certain longing that I can't quite comprehend. My feet touch the floor as my body moves to put a robe on the nightgown that my mother has prepared for me to wear this evening. The fabric hugs my body like a soft touch of a man.What am I thinking?! I slowly turn the knob on my door and get out. I can tell that it is almost dawn and the wolves in the Palace will wake up soon. The smell becomes stronger as I sniff the air to follow where it comes from.
