MasukLucas’s POV“Phoebe!” Her name tore out of my throat before I could stop it. For a moment everything disappeared. The guests, the music and the priest standing before me. All I could see was her. She stood among the crowd, her beautiful hazel eyes fixed on mine. Even from the distance, I could see the pure shock and disbelief.I needed to get to her, I needed to explain why I was standing at the altar with another woman when every part of me wanted to be with her. “Go to her!” Lucian roared.I took a step forward, but a hand held my wrist. “Don’t you dare,” my father hissed.I turned towards him, fury flashing through me. “Let go.”His grip tightened. “Remember where you are. Look around you. I’m not going to let you humiliate me in front of my guests.”I looked around and indeed, their curious eyes were on me. Members of my pack and numerous alphas stared at me. If I didn’t carry on, I knew the consequences very clearly. I could lose my pack, my reputation. I could lose everything.
Phoebe’s POVI stood in front of Eric. “You don’t get to decide who’s good and not good for me, Felicia.” I turned to Eric. “Let’s go.”For the first time in a while, Felicia glared at me, but she didn’t say another word. And Eric also didn’t say anything, which was weird, because Eric always had something to say. I grabbed his hands and we left. But Felicia’s eyes never left Eric, not even for a second. Was it possible she knew him from somewhere? Felicia had never expressed unconcealed irritation for anyone, not even Jones. But now, she did with him. “Do you know her?” I finally asked. Eric paused. “No.”“Are you sure? It did seem like you guys were sworn enemies or something.”Eric didn’t flash that annoying smirk of his, instead, his gaze tightened. “You’re imagining things, Phoebe.”My brows creased with a frown. “I’m imagining things?”“Yes, little bunny.” His familiar smirk returned. “Someone has been watching too many Telemundo movies. Maybe you should consider writing a bo
Phoebe’s POV“What the fuck! How… What the hell are you doing here? How do you know where I live?”“Hey, one question at a time.” He chuckled. “How do I know where you live? I have my ways, baby.”I rolled my eyes. “And what am I doing here? I missed a specific little bunny and wanted to see her. Does that answer all your questions?”My brows furrowed. “I never told you or anybody else where I lived. So—““The most important thing now is I’m here, isn’t it?” He came closer. “Or aren’t you happy to see me?”“I am. It’s just that—““Phoebe, have you been crying?” The playful smile on his face disappeared. “What happened? Did someone dare to hurt you?”“No. No. It’s not that.” I shook my head. He paused. “Wait. Was it Lucas?”My lips parted, but I was unable to say a word. And that silence told him the truth.Eric’s expression hardened. “That son of a bitch. What did he do? Tell me, what did he do?!”“Eric, please calm down. He didn’t hurt me.” My throat tightened. “He… he got married
Phoebe’s POVI stumbled back, unable to believe who I was staring at. Why was Lucas dressed as the groom? No. This wasn’t possible. How could he move on so easily?Lucas froze, his face ashen. His lips parted, but no sound came out of his mouth. My hands curled into fists as I glared at him. Since he wanted to marry another woman, let him go ahead. “Mate,” Selene whimpered. “Shut it. Can’t you see he’s busy getting married?”“But—““Let’s get the hell out of here.”As I was about to take a step, a voice forced me to halt. “Phoebe!” Lucas’ eyes widened and his body trembled. For one brief moment, his body shifted as though he was about to leave the altar. Then, his father caught his wrist. I had expected him to come over, resist his father. But no, he didn’t. He just stood there, his gaze fixed on me. For one foolish second, I waited. I waited for him to run after me. To call my name and give me a reason not to believe what I was seeing. But Lucas didn’t take a step, instead, he
Lucas’s POVToday was definitely the worst day of my life. No, the second worst day. The first was when Phoebe had left without saying goodbye. I still remembered waking up and realizing she was gone. No explanation, not even a fucking note. She had simply disappeared, leaving me to deal with the unbearable ache in my chest and a wolf who had been driving me insane ever since. My father had literally forced the marriage with Vivian upon me, saying I had to choose between duty or love, and if I chose wrongly, I would risk the wellbeing of the pack. I hated myself. I hated myself for being weak, for being unable to refuse and even Lucian hated me for it. He had refused to speak to me ever since I had agreed. “Lucas.” John strolled towards me, his eyes mirroring the sadness in my eyes. “Do you really have to do this?”I let out a humorless laugh. “Do you think I’d be standing here in a fucking suit if I had a choice?”“You always have a choice. He’s manipulating you and you know it.”
Phoebe’s POVI was getting annoyed by the way people looked at me with fear. Don’t get me wrong, it felt good, but too much of everything was bad. I couldn’t walk down a damn hallway without someone moving out of my way or staring at me like I was a ticking time bomb. I was beginning to miss the days when everyone ignored me. Okay, that was a fucking lie. I loved every bit of their discomfort. “You’re smiling again.” I rolled my eyes at Selene’s voice. “And?”“Nothing. Just saying you’re enjoying this way too much.”“Can you blame me?”She chuckled inside my head. “Not even a little.”I was heading down the stairs when I heard Rebecca’s annoying voice drifting out of the living room.“And apparently, almost every important Alpha in the region will be there.”I slowed down. Was there an upcoming event?“Every other important Alpha?” Stella asked, her voice laced with joy. “Even the ones who never attended or cared for events?”“That’s what I heard. I heard it’s going to be the weddin
Phoebe’s POVThe news hit me hard as I froze. Then a sudden comfortable silence fell between them, even amidst the chaos. I stood there, struggling to breathe, feeling as if my heart was being pierced by a thousand arrows while the pack cheered for them. He reached for her hands, subconsciously, hi
Chapter 1 :Phoebe’s Plight Phoebe’s POV Never in my wildest dreams did I think my 18th birthday was going to end like this. Not with the scene of Jason, my boyfriend, fucking Stella, my step-sister, like he wanted to devour her. The moans and gasps echoed in his room, an unsettling irony of our
Phoebe’s POVHearing Sophia’s sharp cry, I immediately spun around. My breath hitched, forcefully watching her heart being ripped out of her chest. Blood flowed heavily from her mouth, in a steady, unstoppable gush. She fell to the ground, her body lifeless. Sophia was the only person who had welco
