The words remained upon the child's page.

"Once, the impossible became someone's beginning."

The pencil stopped.

The child frowned.

"I didn't write that..."

He looked around the quiet room.

There was no one there.

Only an old wooden desk beside an open window.

Outside...

rain fell gently across a peaceful village.

The notebook rested silently before him.

Then...

the words slowly faded.

The page became blank once more.

Far beyond that forgotten world...

inside the Archive...

the Blue Book suddenly trembled.

Adrian immediately noticed.

"It reacted."

Elias nodded.

"It always does."

"The Book of Possibilities doesn't wait for Authors."

"It searches for them."

The First Reader slowly approached.

"I thought the Gate had closed."

"It did."

Elias looked toward the endless horizon.

"But its influence never ends."

The floating lights drifted peacefully above them.

Yet one light...

far brighter than the others...

suddenly separated from the countless stars.

It began moving.

Not randomly.

With purpose.

Straight toward the Blue Book.

The little girl smiled.

"It found someone."

The brilliant light entered the book.

A fresh page turned by itself.

New ink slowly appeared.

Not written by Adrian.

Not written by the Pen.

It was writing itself.

World Designation: Unknown

Status: Story Beginning

Author: Undecided

Adrian watched in silence.

"So every new story appears here first."

The First Reader answered quietly,

"No."

"Every possible story."

"Most of them are never written."

The words lingered in Adrian's mind.

Millions...

perhaps billions...

of worlds that would never exist.

Entire civilizations.

Heroes.

Families.

Dreams.

All waiting for someone to imagine them.

Suddenly...

the Blue Book snapped shut.

A deep vibration rolled across the Archive.

Not violent.

Like a heartbeat.

Boom...

Boom...

Boom...

The floating lights began dimming.

One after another.

The little girl's smile disappeared.

"That's never happened before."

The heartbeat grew louder.

The sea of possibilities rippled violently.

Even the endless horizon began cracking.

Thin black fractures spread through the white sky.

The Last Editor slowly lifted his head.

His expression became grave.

"It found us."

Adrian turned.

"What found us?"

The Last Editor stared at the widening cracks.

"For countless ages..."

"I believed Silence was the oldest force."

"I was wrong."

Another heartbeat echoed.

This one shook the entire Archive.

The cracks widened.

Beyond them...

nothing could be seen.

Not darkness.

Not light.

Only...

emptiness.

The First Reader whispered a single forgotten name.

"The Void."

Silence fell.

Even Elias stopped breathing for a moment.

"The Void still exists?" Adrian asked.

Elias answered without taking his eyes off the cracks.

"It existed before the first dream."

"Before the first story."

"Before imagination itself."

The Blue Book suddenly opened by itself.

Every page filled with the same warning.

DO NOT LET THE VOID READ THE FIRST LINE.

The sentence repeated endlessly.

Page after page.

Thousands of times.

The Pen of Beginnings floated into Adrian's hand.

Its golden light had changed.

Now...

tiny streaks of blue light flowed through it.

The little girl slowly stepped backward.

"If the Void learns how stories begin..."

"...it will learn how to end all of them."

A deafening crack split the sky.

One of the black fractures burst open completely.

A single hand emerged.

It wasn't made of flesh.

Nor shadow.

It looked as though someone had shaped it from absolute nothingness.

It reached slowly toward the nearest floating light.

The newborn story trembled.

Its light flickered.

Then...

for the very first time since the Archive had existed...

one possibility...

simply disappeared.

The First Reader closed his eyes.

His voice carried a sorrow deeper than fear.

"The First Erasure..."

Adrian tightened his grip on the Pen.

He realized...

their greatest battle had never been against the Last Editor.

Nor the Silence.

It had only just begun.

The newborn story vanished.

Not faded.

Not destroyed.

It simply ceased to have ever existed.

The floating light disappeared without leaving even a memory behind.

For several heartbeats...

no one spoke.

The First Reader slowly fell to one knee.

His face had turned pale.

"I never believed I would witness it..."

"The First Erasure."

Adrian looked around.

Something was wrong.

The space where the light had once floated was completely empty.

Even the Archive refused to acknowledge it.

There wasn't a gap.

There wasn't silence.

It was as if that possibility had never been imagined at all.

The little girl covered her mouth.

"I can't remember what it was."

Elias stared into the empty space.

"Neither can I."

The realization struck Adrian harder than any battle he had fought.

"If even memory disappears..."

"...then how do we fight it?"

The Last Editor answered quietly.

"You don't."

"You prevent it."

Another crack spread across the endless white sky.

The hand made of absolute nothingness reached farther into the Archive.

Where its fingers passed...

the floating lights dimmed.

One by one...

they retreated as though terrified.

The Blue Book shook violently.

Fresh words burned themselves across every page.

Imagination alone cannot defeat the Void.

The sentence vanished.

Another replaced it.

Only remembrance can resist erasure.

The White Feather emblem on the cover glowed brightly.

Adrian frowned.

"Remembrance?"

Elias slowly removed the old silver watch from around his neck.

For the first time...

he opened its cover.

Inside...

there was no clockwork.

No gears.

Only a tiny glowing flame.

"This..."

"...is the Flame of Memory."

The First Reader looked at it with astonishment.

"You still kept it."

"I promised I would."

Elias closed the watch carefully.

"As long as one memory survives..."

"...a story can be written again."

The Last Editor looked toward Adrian.

"Now you understand why I protected unfinished stories."

"I wasn't preserving words."

"I was preserving the chance to remember."

The Void's hand suddenly clenched into a fist.

The entire Archive trembled.

Thousands of floating lights blinked out together.

The little girl cried out.

"No!"

She reached toward the fading lights.

But before she could touch them...

the blue book released a wave of brilliant light.

The disappearing stories froze.

Neither alive.

Nor erased.

Suspended.

Waiting.

The ancient voice returned.

Not from the Gate.

Not from the Archive.

From everywhere.

"The First Line still lives."

The Void stopped moving.

Its empty hand remained frozen beyond the cracked sky.

As though even it had paused to listen.

The ancient voice continued.

"As long as one soul imagines..."

"...creation cannot end."

The cracks across the heavens pulsed with dark energy.

Then...

a second hand emerged beside the first.

Larger.

Older.

Stronger.

The Last Editor's eyes widened.

"There are two of them..."

Elias slowly shook his head.

"No."

His voice became almost inaudible.

"There were always two."

Adrian looked at him.

"What do you mean?"

Elias stared into the growing darkness beyond the cracks.

"The Void..."

"...has never been a creature."

"It is a pair."

"One erases."

"The other..."

"...chooses what should never exist."

A deep echo rolled across the endless Archive.

Not a roar.

Not a voice.

A single sentence spoken by both unseen beings together.

"Return the First Story..."

"...or every possible future will be forgotten."

Silence consumed the Archive.

Adrian tightened his grip on the Pen of Beginnings.

For the first time...

he realized the enemy wasn't trying to destroy the worlds.

It was searching for something.

Something hidden.

Something older than the White Book...

older than the Gate of Origins...

older than the First Author himself.

And somehow...

it believed Adrian knew where it was.

Return the First Story..."

"...or every possible future will be forgotten."

The words did not fade.

They hung above the Archive like an ancient law that had existed before time itself.

No one answered.

The floating lights remained frozen between existence and erasure.

The Blue Book continued glowing, holding them in place with the last of its strength.

Adrian finally broke the silence.

"What is the First Story?"

His voice echoed across the endless Archive.

The First Reader closed his eyes.

"I hoped..."

"...you would never have to ask that question."

Elias slowly stepped forward.

"The First Story isn't a book."

"It never was."

Adrian frowned.

"Then what is it?"

Elias looked toward the widening fractures in the sky.

"It was..."

"...the first choice."

Silence.

The words settled heavily upon everyone.

"The first choice?" Adrian repeated.

The Last Editor nodded.

"Before there were worlds..."

"Before there were Authors..."

"There was only possibility."

"And possibility faced a single question."

He looked directly into Adrian's eyes.

"'Should anything exist at all?'"

The entire Archive trembled.

The Blue Book suddenly opened by itself.

Its pages filled with ancient symbols.

No language.

No letters.

Only shifting patterns of light.

The little girl whispered,

"I've never seen that script."

Elias answered softly,

"No one has."

"It existed before words."

The symbols slowly rearranged themselves.

One image became clear.

A tiny flame burning within endless darkness.

Then...

a second image appeared.

A hand reaching toward the flame.

Then a third.

The flame divided.

Its light spread outward.

Stars.

Worlds.

Lives.

Stories.

Everything had begun from that single moment.

The First Reader whispered,

"That..."

"...was the First Story."

Adrian stared at the glowing images.

"So the Void wants that beginning."

"No," Elias replied quietly.

"It wants something far worse."

He pointed toward the final image.

Hidden beneath the spreading light...

Adrian noticed another shape.

A second hand.

It had also reached toward the flame.

But unlike the first...

it had pulled away.

Choosing emptiness.

Choosing nothing.

Elias took a slow breath.

"The First Choice created two paths."

"Creation..."

"...and Unmaking."

The cracks across the sky suddenly widened.

The two enormous hands reached farther into the Archive.

Between them...

a massive face slowly formed from absolute emptiness.

No eyes.

No mouth.

Only a smooth featureless surface.

Yet every soul present could feel it watching them.

The little girl instinctively hid behind Adrian.

"It can see us..."

The featureless face tilted slightly.

The ancient voice echoed again.

This time...

it carried something Adrian had never expected.

Sadness.

"We were not abandoned..."

"...We were refused."

The Last Editor's expression changed instantly.

"Listen carefully."

"It isn't lying."

Everyone turned toward him.

He continued,

"The Void was never born from hatred."

"It was born..."

"...from the choice that was never made."

Silence consumed the Archive.

Even the floating lights seemed to stop shining.

Adrian looked at the featureless being.

For the first time...

he didn't see a monster.

He saw loneliness.

An existence that had never been allowed to become a story.

The Blue Book suddenly began writing by itself.

Across every page...

only one sentence appeared.

Every forgotten beginning seeks an ending.

The words had barely finished forming...

when the white key Adrian had used to open the Gate of Origins suddenly appeared once again in his hand.

But it had changed.

A thin black crack now ran through its center.

Elias stared at it in horror.

"The Key..."

"...it's choosing again."

Far beyond the shattered sky...

another Gate slowly emerged.

Unlike the Gate of Origins...

this one was carved from endless black stone.

Across its surface...

one ancient title slowly burned into existence.

THE GATE OF THE UNWRITTEN

The words upon the black stone slowly brightened.

THE GATE OF THE UNWRITTEN

Unlike the Gate of Origins...

it reflected no light.

It absorbed it.

The countless floating possibilities surrounding the Archive dimmed as the enormous gate continued rising from the endless emptiness.

No hinges.

No lock.

Only a single black circle rested at its center.

The same symbol Adrian had first seen upon the Silent Shore.

The cracked white key in his hand grew heavier.

Not physically...

Emotionally.

It felt as though two opposite worlds were pulling upon it at the same time.

Elias stepped closer.

"Don't move."

"The Gate is testing you."

Adrian kept his eyes fixed upon the towering structure.

"Testing me for what?"

Before Elias could answer...

the featureless face beyond the shattered sky slowly dissolved.

From the darkness stepped two figures.

One was clothed in flowing white robes.

The other...

in robes darker than the emptiest night.

Neither carried weapons.

Neither showed anger.

They simply stood before the Gate of the Unwritten.

The white-robed figure spoke first.

"We chose Creation."

Then the black-robed figure finished the sentence.

"And we chose Silence."

Their voices were perfectly identical.

Like two halves of the same existence.

The First Reader whispered,

"They're not enemies..."

The Last Editor nodded slowly.

"They never were."

The white-robed figure raised an open hand.

"When the First Choice was made..."

"...we accepted its light."

The black-robed figure did the same.

"But someone had to accept..."

"...everything left behind."

The endless Archive trembled.

Suddenly Adrian understood.

The Void had never wanted to destroy imagination.

It had been forced to carry every possibility that had never been chosen.

Every unwritten life.

Every forgotten world.

Every abandoned dream.

The burden had grown for eternity.

The Blue Book suddenly opened.

Its pages turned faster than ever before.

Not stopping until the very last page.

Unlike every page before it...

this one already contained writing.

Only one sentence.

No possibility should remain alone forever.

The little girl slowly stepped toward the Gate.

Tears filled her eyes.

"So many stories..."

"...never even had the chance to begin."

The black-robed figure looked at her.

For the first time...

its expression softened.

"We remembered them."

"No one else did."

Silence swept across the Archive.

Even the Last Editor lowered his head in respect.

Adrian looked at the cracked key.

Then toward the two Gates.

One white.

One black.

One protected beginnings.

The other protected everything that had never begun.

Elias quietly spoke.

"They were never meant to stand apart."

Adrian's eyes widened.

"They're one Gate."

Elias smiled.

"You finally see it."

The cracked key suddenly floated upward.

The black fracture spreading across its center began glowing with brilliant silver light.

Slowly...

the crack healed.

The white half and the dark half became one.

The key transformed into something entirely new.

Half radiant crystal.

Half polished obsidian.

Perfectly balanced.

The ancient voice echoed through every world.

"The Keeper has understood."

The Gate of Origins appeared once more beside the Gate of the Unwritten.

The two colossal structures slowly moved toward each other.

Stone groaned.

Light met darkness.

Instead of colliding...

they merged.

Two Gates became one.

Its surface shimmered with both dawn and midnight.

Across the newly formed entrance...

a fresh title slowly appeared.

THE GATE OF EVERY POSSIBILITY

Every floating light in the Archive suddenly blazed brighter than the stars.

Even the forgotten possibilities trapped within the Void began shining once again.

The black-robed figure smiled for the first time in eternity.

A single silver tear fell from its face.

Where it touched the endless emptiness...

a tiny new light was born.

Not a world.

Not a story.

A chance.

The Gate slowly opened.

Beyond it...

there was neither light nor darkness.

Only an endless horizon waiting to be imagined.

The ancient voice spoke one final time.

"The next chapter will not ask who created the first story..."

"...It will ask who deserves to write the last one."
