Clarissa’s POV

The air in the room was heavy with warmth, laughter, and the smell of roasted meat.

It was a full pack meeting. Warriors, elders, pups and everyone had gathered in the great hall for food and updates from Alpha Drey. Long wooden tables filled the room, and plates of food were passed down rows with eager hands.

I sat near the front, beside Tessy and Drey. Across the table from me sat Helen, dressed in a silver dress that hugged her perfectly. Her hair was braided back neatly, and a necklace sparkled against her throat.

She looked beautiful, as always.

And calm. Too calm.

Her eyes met mine once or twice, and she smiled. But it was the kind of smile that didn’t reach the eyes. I didn’t smile back.

Ever since the visions started, I had been watching her closely. Every word she said, every look she gave. Something inside me kept warning me not to drop my guard.
