{ Remington } Ivy walks to Ash and grabs his little arm to bring him inside the kitchen with her, but the kid holds his ground and he looks up at me. His cobalt eyes are scrutinizing me. And that’s when it hits me right in the chest. The realization that this is probably the last time I'll see him. At least in a while. "I already know you're my dad, Mom finally told me the truth," Ash says. His words make my heart stop completely. I gulp and crouch down to be at his level. "Yes, Ash. I am your dad," I try to smile, ignoring the growing hole in my chest, "I didn't know that until recently, though. I didn’t—“ "I explained," Ivy responds, "We had a long conversation about it. And Ash said he’s willing to maintain a long distance relationship with you... right?" "Yeah, because I won’t see you again. We’re leaving this shit pack," Ash responds, regurgitating Ivy's words for sure. She sucks on her teeth in disapproval of that language, "I won't ask you to come with us. Mom sai
"Hey, are you back?" Cassie asks when she picks up my call. I put her on speaker and start taking my and Ash's clothes off the closet. I should've never made myself at home in here, this should be faster."Yep. And we're leaving this house tonight. Get your stuff packed," I tell her, just throwing everything inside the open suitcase without bothering to fold it nicely, "And come to my room as soon as it's done. I want to go talk to Miss Jessy and have dinner with her.""Got it, boss," she says, "I've been half-packed this whole time, so it won't take too long."She was right. Only ten minutes later she’s ready and we’re walking downstairs. I hold my head high and get ready to defend myself if the Silvan family starts throwing accusations at me, but there's nobody around. Or at least I think that, until Remington comes out of the kitchen as we're about to walk in."Good evening, Alpha Remington," Cassie murmurs and continues on her way inside the kitchen, leaving me there with my mat
When I return to the packhouse, I can tell Remington is home. And I can tell he's fighting with his Council because I hear the voices echoing through the hall. Instead of walking to the stairs and going to my room, I sneak silently and follow the voices to one of the living rooms. I carefully peek in for one second. Remington is sitting on the couch with a liquor glass on his hands, his eyes lost on the wall in front of him as his Grandmother and Viktor fight about something, then his mother stars joining. He looks very tired and drained, a part of me feels the need to take care of him. Tell him to go eat something because I'm sure he hasn't, then ask if he's had any water today or just liquor, then tell him to leave the heavy talk for later and just go take a nap. "... a traitor to your own pack!" Grandmother Elena yells, so hard I'm kind of surprised her old body is still capable of it, "For what? A woman? That makes you WEAK. I never imagined a grandson of mine to be th
As soon as the door opens, every men in those cells turns intensely to the door and I get to see in real time when they realize it's me and their whole semblance changes from ready to attack to... shocked. And then almost nervous, most of them. They sit back down and just stare at me like I'm something way more powerful than I really am. That’s cool once, but I can tell it’s going to turn annoying soon. "Hi, guys," I let out, looking at every guy I walk past in the eyes. Every single one. I stop dead in my tracks when I see a baby face in a grown-man’s body, “Hey, you’re young as hell.” “Hi,” he whispers, face red. He looks freshly eighteen and I instantly feel maternal towards him in a way I’ve never felt towards another completely random man. I mean, as a norm, I hate men. I always have and always will, especially since I've been completely on my own and I've seen the reality of how disgusting they can be. I don't trust them unless they give me a reason to. They're all shi
{ Ivy } "Hello, Miss Doreen," one of the guards says the second he sees me walking inside the police station like I own the place. I smile at him, ignoring his clear panic, "Can I help you?" "Hello, Officer... Walker," I say, reading his plaque, "Alpha Remington sent me here again. He's over at the rogue camp, checking on the omegas there, so I'm in charge of the omegas here. We're a team. A love team, you know he's my fated mate, right? We even have a kid together and all. I birthed the next Alpha, you're welcome for that." "Wait, wait, Miss Doreen..." he follows me as I walk right to the female cells again, not waiting for his approval because I'm pretty sure he would've questioned me or maybe even prohibited me from walking in, "Let me call Alpha Remington and check." "What? You're doubting me?" I ask, turning to him with an offended pout. He gulps and opens his mouth like a fish for a few seconds, unsure of what to say, "I just said I'm your fated Luna and you treat me lik
The rogues were very open about the land they're occupying, so I head there as soon as I leave Felix’s house. It was two and a half hours from Felix’s pack, but it’s only twenty minutes from my pack by car, around fifteen running in wolf form and only about ten minutes away from one of the tunnel entrances my dumbass grandfather left out there, for all to see. The land they're occupying is about two acres of open, clean space. Like I told the rogues, it's not 'free' land, it's there in case one of our packs ever needs it. But, at this point, it only serves as a 'nice gesture' among the allies to show we're willing to share. "They made themselves right at home," my beta murmurs as we get closer and see what they've done here. They have camping gear scattered all around, with tarps stretched tight between trees and stakes for shade. I can see two wolves lying on the ground, bellies up to the sun. Very comfy rogues. There’s also a couple of women chatting and laughing as they coo
