Lines That Cannot Be Crossed Eris POV “Bring them inside,” the woman said, in a tight voice. Mary hesitated, looking at me first. I gave a short nod. “Go,” I said. The woman stepped aside and ushered them into the cabin quickly, no matter how bright she tried to look, she still couldn't hide the fear and tension in her face. The children clung to Mary as they crossed the threshold. The girl glanced back at me again, looking uncertain. I did not follow them immediately. I just stood outside observing and making sure nobody tailed us. When I finally entered, the air inside the cabin felt heavier than the forest outside. The Woman of the Woods Eris POV “Who is there?” I said, rising slowly to my feet. Keeping my hand closed around the hilt of my dagger, that's attached to the leather pants I was wearing. It was quiet but deep down I knew something didn't feel right. like eyes were watching me intensively. “Show yourself,” I said, louder now. “Or leave while you still can. I promise if I get you, I won't spare you.” Nothing answered me. Curiosity got the better of me and I walked away from the children and the nanny, moving in a wide arc around the clearing. The Breaking Point Eris POV “Keep moving,” I said quietly. My voice sounded calmer than I felt. The forest answered me with silence. Night had fully settled now, and the trees pressed closer together as if they were listening or maybe covering us. Cold crept into my bones with every step I took. Eris POV “Keep walking,” I said quietly. The nanny stumbled behind me, clutching the female child against her chest while the boy dragged his feet beside her. They were already looking exhausted. But it wasn't time to rest. I bet Malcolm’s guards would be looking everywhere for the kids. I wouldn't want to take any chances. Eris POV I walked inside and immediately shut down the door. I didn't want any guards or maids passing to see me. I have come too far to fail. I stood by the kids cradle, watching the kids sleep soundly. I was there when they gave birth to them, I was there when they started crawling. Looking at the kids I nurtured, kids that used to sleep on my chest now far from me. Break my heart.
