The Loyal Ones Return

Eris POV

“Show yourselves,” I said calmly, resting my hand on the hilt of my dagger. “I know that scent.”

Branches shifted. And a familiar voice answered from the darkness. “You always did know before we stepped out.”

“Rose,” I said, and for the first time since I entered these woods, something close to relief touched my chest.

She emerged first, pushing her hood back slowly. Behind her came six strong faces that I recognized. Men who had bled for me once and had not forgotten how.

They froze when they saw me clearly.

“You…” one of them whispered. “By the moon.”

“I told you he was alive,” Rose said, though her voice shook. “But seeing it is different.”

Another man took a step closer, his eyes were wide. “I can't believe you went to Lumen alone and came back unharmed.”

“I know,” I replied. “I told you I was going and would come back.. Have you all forgotten who I am? Alpha Eris.”

Fear flickered across their faces. But they nodded, gazing at me with prid

Lines That Cannot Be Crossed Eris POV “Bring them inside,” the woman said, in a tight voice. Mary hesitated, looking at me first. I gave a short nod. “Go,” I said. The woman stepped aside and ushered them into the cabin quickly, no matter how bright she tried to look, she still couldn't hide the fear and tension in her face. The children clung to Mary as they crossed the threshold. The girl glanced back at me again, looking uncertain. I did not follow them immediately. I just stood outside observing and making sure nobody tailed us. When I finally entered, the air inside the cabin felt heavier than the forest outside. Both the sharp-mouth kids and their nanny were all mute. The woman barred the door and turned on me, her eyes were blazing with anger. “You have crossed a line,” she said. “A line that cannot be erased. Do you know what you’ve done?” “They are safe,” I replied. “That is more than most can say. And yes, I know exactly what I am doing.” “Safe?” she snapped. “You

The Woman of the Woods Eris POV “Who is there?” I said, rising slowly to my feet. Keeping my hand closed around the hilt of my dagger, that's attached to the leather pants I was wearing. It was quiet but deep down I knew something didn't feel right. like eyes were watching me intensively. “Show yourself,” I said, louder now. “Or leave while you still can. I promise if I get you, I won't spare you.” Nothing answered me. Curiosity got the better of me and I walked away from the children and the nanny, moving in a wide arc around the clearing. My boots made deliberate sounds against the soil. If someone was hiding, I wanted them to know I was not afraid and I was coming to get it. “I am not in the mood for games,” I called. “If you are hunting, come and hunt.” Yet, no response. Things I hate. I circled the trees, pushing branches aside, widening my eyes into the darkness, and listening past my own breathing. No matter how far I go and the level of my intense threat, I got no resp

The Breaking Point Eris POV “Keep moving,” I said quietly. My voice sounded calmer than I felt. The forest answered me with silence. Night had fully settled now, and the trees pressed closer together as if they were listening or maybe covering us. Cold crept into my bones with every step I took. The air smelled damp, sharp, and alive. I wanted to stop for the kids to rest, but I couldn't. I wanted to get to my destination before the scouts started patrolling. “I cannot carry her anymore,” the nanny said behind me, with her voice breaking. “Please. She is shaking. Stop hurting them, they are innocent.” “I am cold,” the girl whimpered weakly as if she was waiting for their nanny to first speak. “My feet hurt. I am tired.” Then she began to cry. The boy sniffed loudly, dragging his torn slippers across the ground. “I want my daddy. I want my mummy. Why are you doing this? Daddy will find you.” I did not answer. Their nags were seriously annoying me but I was still trying to keep m

Eris POV “Keep walking,” I said quietly. The nanny stumbled behind me, clutching the female child against her chest while the boy dragged his feet beside her. They were already looking exhausted. But it wasn't time to rest. I bet Malcolm’s guards would be looking everywhere for the kids. I wouldn't want to take any chances. They kept nagging and grumbling as the trees and branches dragged their clothes and even tore their skin “I am hungry,” the girl whimpered, furrowing her face. “I know,” the nanny whispered, kissing her hair. “Just hold on.” Then she looked at me, pleading with her eyes to get the food. The boy sniffed loudly. “When are we going home? Why are we going? I want to go back. mean uncle.” I did not answer. But I felt bad. Kids who were supposed to be my kids now call me mean. I swallowed and raised my face up. “Sir,” the nanny said shakily, “they have not eaten since supper. Please, do you have good food for them? They can't keep up.” I stopped walking and turn

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 93

Eris POV I walked inside and immediately shut down the door. I didn't want any guards or maids passing to see me. I have come too far to fail. I stood by the kids cradle, watching the kids sleep soundly. I was there when they gave birth to them, I was there when they started crawling. Looking at the kids I nurtured, kids that used to sleep on my chest now far from me. Break my heart. Just as I touched one of the baby’s cheeks, she stirred awake. “Who’s that?” a voice behind me questioned. I gently brought out my dagger, hiding it behind my back and slowly I turned. She widened her eyes when she didn't recognize my face. And opened her mouth to scream but I rushed and closed her mouth. “Do not scream,” I whispered. Her eyes flew open instantly. The nanny’s body stiffened beneath my grip as my hand clamped over her mouth, dragging her upright before a sound could escape. Her breath hit my palm in frantic bursts, her eyes wide and wet with terror as she stared at me. “Please,” sh
