Himari’s POV.-Runa makes a pause, ‘It’s the moonlight’.Together, we both lift our head to the diagonal thin flow of faint blue light filtering through the tree-tops above. It's a fine line of gentle light that contradicts the malicious air within this forest. Just the sight of it alone restores a sense of peace to us.‘Himari’Lost staring at the light, a distant weak call comes ringing our ears. It’s like a supernatural call that seeks out my soul, and we find ourselves peering in the direction in front of us. ‘Runa, what do you think that was?’ I ask tentatively, but Runa’s sprinting forward in the next second. She tells me with a desperate edge to her voice as she ups her speed, picking up a breeze, ‘Don’t you feel the tug against our souls? I might not know what has made that dying call, but it’s something that needs us’.She’s right, I can’t describe this strange emotion unfurling within me, but I know it’s a call I can’t turn away from. Runa begins to slow down a
Himari’s POV.-I sigh for the umpteenth time, wiggling my butt on the cushion of the couch I’m sitting on. After narrating all that transpired in the forest, Winter advised strictly, that I hold the egg close to me for a couple of hours to establish a bond with the Chimera offspring. There’s no way to tell if it's a single offspring or if there’re more.A pang of grief rattles in my heart at the recollection of my short moment with the mythical beast. For sure, I would’ve loved to establish a lasting bond with it. Sigh, I sulk, folding in as I press the egg to my chest, resting my chin on it as I enter a ruminative ball.Winter had told me I needed to maintain an uninterrupted flow of my healing flames to feed the egg. I do wonder about it, I find it strange the only nutrition I can feed it is exclusively my healing flames. Thanks to the golden flames from a few hours ago, it appears the Chimera did leave me with the little gift to harness my healing flames for this purpose.
Himari’s POV.-Zorien leaves me in turmoil, strolling off to enter the bathroom while I lower my gaze to the pile, dropping on my knees as I go through them with a radiant bubble swelling in my chest. I’m so excited to open them all! But, maybe I’ll keep them away first. I need to find Welma and also, someplace safe for the egg.I glance at the bathroom door, rising on my feet. I hope he doesn’t step out just yet. ‘It’s best we hurry on now. I can feel Welma’s presence downstairs’ Runa chortles and I turn on my heels just then, sneaking out the door in the next minute.I find Welma and Kitra on their way to my bedroom and we enter together, having Kitra bolt the door.“It’s dangerous to play pretend with Zorien, these days he’s often inclined to taunt me more than usual” I complain, rushing to my bed and sitting on it. I handle the egg with care, placing it on the spot before me just as Oriel comes sneaking around my shoulders.Welma perches onto the other side of the egg,
Himari POV.-The momentum I use to drive my body forward is what gives me the right angle for the leap I desire. Ashton expects to counter my attack by mostly lunging up at me to not only surprise me and null my attack, but also get away with a neat tap to my back. It’s pretty good, but I’m not attacking him, it’s only a cheap fluke.Right when his fist is closing in, I shift mid-air, ducking swiftly and spontaneously grabbing hold of his shoulder to control my speed as I bring my feet back to the floor deftly. Still at the height of my speed, I slide my feet over the floor and twist my body enough to run an arc around Ashton. I dart a hand to his open back in triumph. But I feel his palm against mine right the same moment I think I’m attaining victory.“Not bad at all.” I hear Ashton say as I straighten up and look to him with a pout, “I was so close”.Really, I never expected to pull that move so successfully. I only did that move once since my mom taught me. But this is
Himari’s POV.-I scoff angrily, marching around to my side of the bed to get on while stubbornly ignoring Zorien. This is crazy, how do I get off behaving this way with him and he’s not scolding me? ‘When I get over this immobilizing shock, I’ll try to figure out his hidden motives’ Even Runa is flabbergasted as well.I sneak a glance his way and find him watching me relaxedly, and I quickly avert my gaze to flush profusely. He never ceases a moment to derive his insidious pleasure from tormenting me. I hold onto my flummoxed mood, getting onto the bed and perching on my designated space when strong arms come clasping my form and wringing a gasp of surprise from my lips.“Z-Zorien!” I call out breathlessly and his wicked chuckles reply to me as he pulls my body over the sheets to bring my back pressing against his hard chest. This sneaky Demon!“W-what are you doing?” I stutter, floundering hands struggling against his iron grip glibly. The side of his face presses against
Himari’s POV.-Kitra and Welma won’t stop fussing over Zorien’s permission for me to go shopping with his debit card. It’s not like I had a choice to refuse when he said it like that, and I really do wish to appreciate the gifts I received. We drop all we bought into the trunk of Kitra’s car and opt for some food at a restaurant nearby.“Maybe you’re the one who conjured a spell on him instead?” Welma lifts a brow at me, pausing her sip from her straw, and I frown, “Enough with that already. Stop bringing it up. If you’ve got questions, then go ask Zorien yourselves”. I huff tiredly while she shares laughter with Kitra.Ah, these two. Now that they’ve gotten a bit closer, they now connive together and frustrate me.I scoff and sip on my fruit drink, looking out to the streets. The table we’re at is just outside the restaurant as it offers both indoor and outdoor sitting. Helping Kitra to make up with Ashton was a success and maybe it’s why she’s especially happy since then a
Zorien’s POV.-After my pup leaves in Kitra’s car with her friends, I stride into my study where I’ve got matters waiting for my attention. I’m becoming aware of my pup as the days roll by. It’s because she’s gradually gravitating toward the day she finally comes of age. Not just her private conversations with her wolf, I can predict the direction of her thoughts and can easily decipher her distress. My perception of her topples over every other perception, aggravating my craving to have her and marring my restraints to wait it out. I feel her all the time and the swishing colors of her switching emotions make my chest crumple with forlorn when she’s absent for too long. The way she melted in my arms last night, tells me she’s undergoing what I’m battling with. She just doesn’t know it yet. How mesmerizing it felt to watch her ease into my arms, feel her beautiful fingers course through my hair, and even be audacious to grip at it.Tsk, the night ended too quickly. My short
Zorien’s POV.-Isn’t that...a Chimera’s egg?The large egg is situated on an active magic circle, and I whip a hand out to call it into my palm. The red pillar of light emitting from the magic circle dispels to release the egg that lifts into the air and comes floating towards my open palm. The moment its base touches my palm, something snaps like a string and its weight registers on my hand. It’s heavy. I hold the egg aside and flick the giant tank. Cracks creak over the glass, rushing in all directions and I step back just as the tank collapses into a burst of shards and water. I catch her weak body on time, ripping my coat off and wrapping her in it as I suspend the egg to pay my attention to her properly.“Pup, wake up” I call against her sickly pale face, but receive no response. Tch, did they cast a spell on her? I bring my right palm over her face and tap with restricted strength. Her head only lulls around but no sign of arousal shows at all.Leaving me with no c
