LOGINNick’s POV-
I was about to do some stretching when I noticed this young lady walk past my house. A new lady in town? She was walking and looking around like she was trying to find something until she started approaching people like she was asking something from them. I stopped what I was doing and ended up observing her. She got me curious of what she was trying to do. She was walking with no direction and stretching her neck while her eyes were searching. That confirmed my initial reaction that she was truly looking for something or maybe it could be someone until she stopped her tracks and began to slowly sit on the white sand. I guess she got tired from all the walking she did since early morning. I saw her pulling her hair up into a bun and wiped the sweat that was dropping from her forehead down to her neck. I swallowed concurrently as her hands went down her neck to wipe her sweat from there. What was that for, Nick? You are acting like you are about to devour a delicious treat. I couldn’t ignore the fact that this lady is such a beauty even with her tired look. What could she be looking for? I wondered. I wanted to walk to her and ask, but I couldn’t seem to move my feet towards her. She stood up and looked at her watch to probably check on the time then, she looked around again before she went away. I watched her keenly to at least know where she was going or until where my eyes could see her. Then, she went inside the house five doors away from where I was residing. Is that where she lives? How come this is the first time I saw her? Is she the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Summers? I was truly intrigued by this new face in town.
The next day I went outside to do my daily routine when I saw this lady again from yesterday who was still on for a search. She still kept on looking and asking people something. Her search went day by day and goes home when it was time for lunch. One morning Mrs. Brooksman knocked on my door. “Hello, Mrs. Brooksman! What can I do for you?” The old lady smiled at me and said, “Hello there Nick! I would actually ask a favor from you.” My eyebrows arched and politely asked, “What is it Mrs. Brooksman? Anything for a fair woman.” She lightly tapped my shoulder “Oh you are such a sweet child. Well then, there was this young lady who knocked on my door this morning and she was trying to search for a certain man.” Could Mrs. Brooksman be referring to the lady I have been observing for a month now? “She is looking for a tall young man, about 20 years-old she said with black hair and dark brown eyes. She also said that if you have seen his back you will see a lot of scars which is quite strange to me.” Having said that, I now know who this lady is looking for. She is looking for my friend, Conner Lowell. “Don’t you worry Mrs. Brooksman I’ll take care of it. By the way, do you happen to know where this lady is?” Mrs. Brooksman turned and pointed out to the lady who is now sitting on the sand. I smiled at Mrs. Brooksman and bid goodbye. I watched the lady and saw the sorrow in her eyes. I inhaled as much air as I can and walked towards the lady. Here goes nothing. Upon approaching her I noticed that she was closing her eyes. I was star struck by her beauty. I knew back then that she was beautiful, but I was looking at her from a far. Now that I am right in front of her, she is just stunning. Are you just going to stand there and watch her or are you going to make a move and make your existence known? I nervously tapped her shoulder and when she looked at me I could see the pain in her eyes. I could barely talk when she asked me “Yes, How can I help you?” I knew I had to answer “Are you that woman who have been looking for a certain man in this area?” I could tell that she was shocked, and I could feel the eagerness when I said that I might know who this man is. I had to take her to Conner’s house to make sure that the person she was looking for was really him. The thing that I’m worried now is that if it was truly Conner, how will she react if she will know that Conner wasn’t here anymore. I opened the door and I can see how she savored every corner of the house and when she took the picture that was right on top of the side table her eyes widened, looked at me and nodded. The excitement in her eyes made it difficult for me to tell her that Conner isn’t here, but I knew better, I have to immediately tell her. I don’t want to keep her hopes up and just end up falling down again. I faced her and said, “I hope this won’t disappoint you, but I have to tell you he isn’t here anymore.” I can see the excitement in her eyes vanish and she cried her heart out. I couldn’t understand why I am feeling this way. It was as if there was somebody throwing knives at me and cutting my very flesh. When her cry subsided, I felt the need to cup her face like soothing a baby. However, she was no baby and when I was trying to console her, I felt the urge to kiss her. I am not sure what I am putting myself into, but I really want to protect her. I will protect her.
-Conner’s POV I arrived at Texas with a goal in my mind and that is to put an end to the feud I have with Bernard Yates and ensure the safety of Lucy and our baby. Alfred and I are on our way to Mr. Fredrick Ace to clarify the situation and make a deal with him to give the Phoenix project to Bernard Yates for a good reason. I entered Mr. Ace’s office and saw him sitting, waiting for me there. I lent my hand for a shake and greeted him, Mr. Ace, thank you so much for giving me your time. I know you have a lot on your plate and I am greatly honored for the chance that you gave me.” Mr. Ace took my hand and said, “I know you won’t fly here all of a sudden for no good reason. There’s something behind this and I intend to know what. So, Mr. Lowell what’s the catch?” He led us to the couch near his table for us to sit comfortably while we talk. I sat before I said, “Well, Mr. Ace I think you already know why I am here.” He smirked, “I might, but I want to be sure what you really
- Conner’s POVI felt my heart torn into pieces hearing Lucy say that she deserves freedom. That is something I dread to hear especially from her. I never wanted her to be free because I want her to be tied with me forever. She is my wife and I intend to keep it that way. But how? Now that she has become distant to me, I don’t know what to do. I went inside the bathroom to wash my face and looked at myself in the mirror. Lucy is right. The feud between me and Bernard Yates is not her burden to carry. To ensure Lucy and our baby’s safety I need to make Bernard stop bothering us. I need a master plan and I need to make it quick. I called uncle Jack and asked, “Hello uncle Jack, any news about Bernard Yates? Do you have something for me?” Uncle Jack answered from the other line, “Well, just like old times, your father’s bestfriend, Bernard Yates seems to be eyeing on the Phoenix Project. My boys told me that the proposal of Mr. Yates has the same content with the one that you
Lucy’s POV-Is he trippin’? His voice is firm, but his eyes are soft. It’s an enchanting gaze like a spell was casted on me and just couldn’t say no. Ok fine, I get it. Better near than in the same room. Oh please Lucy, it’s all over your nerves. It’s almost obvious that it is screaming Conner’s name. Are you certain you wouldn’t go knocking on Conner’s door tonight to be in his arms, tough momma? The argument of my alter ego is just as annoying as ever. But I swear the endearment in his eyes are awfully tempting. Still, looks like I simply don’t have any choice, but to give in to Conner’s request. I crossed my arms across my chest, “You just don’t give me any choice, do you? This is all your fault! I shouldn’t be hiding this way and be fearing for the our safety if it wasn’t for your rivalry!” Suddenly my hormones are kicking in and I just want to put on a fight with Conner. “Mr. Conner Lowell! You better make this right! Straighten this mess that you made with that Bernard Yates so
-Lucy’s POV-I was uncertain, but even though I was, it felt right. His hand clasped on mine was as comforting as I remember. Agh! Never mind, for the baby. I’m accepting his comfort now for the sake of the baby nothing more. We entered the room together and as I laid down, I closed my eyes anxiously waiting to hear the heartbeat of my child. Lub-dub…Lud-dub. My eyes opened wide hearing the heartbeat of my baby for the very first time. Tears rolling down my cheeks seeing the little peanut inside my socket. So small yet so precious. It finally hit me that yes, I am going to become a mother. I was crying and didn’t realize that Conner was already embracing me crying as well. My thoughts went back to reality when I heard him whisper “You are going to become a great mother.” I slowly broke free from his embrace and distanced myself from him. I fixed my shirt when Dr. Ivy said, “Mr. and Mrs. Lowell I will be right back with the printed results of your baby. Congratulations to you both!” I
-Lucy’s POV- I am not sure if what I am doing is right especially that I will be using Chris again to escape from this whole mess that I am in, but I think that I don’t have any other choice. When I asked him if he could take me away he blinked a couple of times trying to digest and let everything sink in. When he figured things out, he held both of my arms and caressed them softly as he gave me a sweet smile. “Lucy, you are truly extraordinary. You never failed to amuse me.” Now, it was my turn to be confused. What is he trying to say? “You are smart woman.” He continued. “and since you are a smart woman. I think you know better that this is not the way to solve things out. We don’t want to do things that we might regret in the long run especially now that you have an angel inside your belly.” He gently placed his hand over my still small belly. Conner was trying to restrain himself from striding towards us and Ronald was quick enough to sense that for he placed his hand
-Lucy’s POV-I slowly opened my eyes when I felt the warmth of the heat of the sun coming from the windowpane. My sight was still a little blurry and so I tried blinking a couple of times to clear my vision. My head was buzzing and I could hear voices talking not far from where I was laying. When my vision cleared I finally realized that I was in what it looked like a clinic. I shifted myself to a sitting position trying to get a glimpse of who the voices belonged to. I then saw Ronald and the doctor was right beside him. It looked like they were listening to somebody else. I was about to stand up when his eyes glanced at me, he immediately rushed towards me to assist me. “Lucy, be careful.” The doctor then followed him and checked on my vital signs. While the doctor was checking on me another figure came inside the room. It was Conner. My eyes widened at the sight of him. Oh for the love of the heavens! Why is he here?! Agh! Ronald! You’ve got some explaining to do! I looked at Ronal
