Chapter II

Shin walks away immediately as soon as he realized what just happen, there in the crowd with his big brother Ginji is Jenica, one of his big brother avid fan. She has the smell of sweet vanilla, plus his wolf surface and whispered the word mate confirming it. The girl though is two years younger than him, thus she does not know yet she is his mate.

For a second he went blank, the sound on his ears echoed again and again, even if his bit far from her location, it continues to say the word mate. But he was able to shut it down his wolf that wants to push him on going to his mate, but like every time it surface he shut it down.

His heartbeat race like he just had a marathon. So he moved his way to find his best pal Yo. In one of the many tables are five family member of the Black, one of them is Yo his childhood best friend.

“Hey Shin! Happy birthday.” Shin just nod.

“Are you okay?” Yo stand as soon as he saw Shin, he has a horrified look on his face that he suspect something just happen.

“I am okay, don’t you worry. I was just shocked.” Shin answered. “Let’s talk somewhere else.”

They walked away from the crowd.

He told Yo the situation. Jenica is the son of the current Beta, and it will be his father’s honour if she really is his mate, but the girl is a fan of his hell of a brother, she is one of those who wish to be the next Luna. Shin thinks that Jamie his father’s Beta won’t accept him. For Shin knew that the ambitious man would sign up for anything to make her daughter the next Luna, he won’t approve this for sure.

And they both knew that Ginji will be full of jealousy, and he will surely make anything to destroy them. That man would never wish a happy ending for him. Ginji rejected mate was the daughter of rouge they accepted in the clan, hence he have to reject her. The girl doesn’t have the quality to be the next Luna.

But honestly, along with this thought is a trouble inside him, yes he longed wished to know who his mate is, his heart did pound, he had butterflies, but it wasn’t as magical as he thought it would be.

He has doubt that maybe his wolf is wrong, maybe because he supress him a lot of time, he tried to mislead him. But he is very sure that the smell came from her. He’s a wolf and wolves have a very strong sense of smell.

“Master the Alpha is calling for you.” It was one of the slaves who fetch him this time.

Shin was called to go to the stage, for they will start the banquet. The Alpha, the Second and three of his Beta are with him on large table; his big brother sits beside the empty chair where he is designated to sit. Thus, he has no choice but to sit beside the person he most hated to be with at this moment.

Once he took his sit, the food starts to arrive. It was indeed a feast, but while there are so many foods on the table, the smell of his mate Jenica stills overwhelms him. He looks around and find Liza, while everybody enjoys the food, she is busy going here and there to attend on everyone’s need.

“So, did you find your mate?” His father asked.

He assess the situation, if he will tell them it was Jenica, they will be happy, but Jenica is still too young to understand, she might as well rejects him for his big brother. The thought of it makes him feel uneasy; it hurts him to learn that his mate is a fan of the next Alpha.

“No Alpha.” He answered with a lowered eye. He cannot look into his father while he lied.

“Well, well, isn’t everyone already arrived?” Asked one of the Beta’s, with a hidden hint of sarcasm.

“Who knows, the lucky lady maybe from other clan?” Suggested Joseph, that guy has a leniency towards Shin. Shins have the feeling that he could start a heated conversation if he didn’t butt in.

But instead of him talking, for the first time Ginji defended him.

“Don’t worry some of the girls are still at their home, especially those who just arrived. She might be one of those girls. Am I right?” He sounds like he knew, had he found out?

He was so sure that he left as soon as he can, and haven’t even said a word. Plus no one knew except for Yo. That guy could never betray him. They are best of friends since they were a kid.

He nodded to reply. But his confuse if Ginji is just testing him.

The older men continue to make out conclusion about the situation. His father was eyeing him though, he knew he have suspicion.  He might have thought whoever that woman is gets rejected by him already. The problem is, it wasn’t that.

Again he look around to make out an excuse, then he saw Liza, this time she was carrying dishes while a bunch of tugs are calling her.

He stands to help her carry the dishes.

“Go and attend to them before they think of hurting you again.” He said to Liza.

“Oh no Rex, let me do this, please sit down. Do not bother to help.” Liza answered. Her voice is shivering in fear.

“Don’t worry.” He insisted and continues to the kitchen.

When he went back he saw Liza again on a corner crying. He was furious thinking that the tugs made fun of her again. So he walks in her direction planning to ask what happen.

“Stop!” It was his father. He grasp Shin’s arm to stop him from moving.

“Did you reject her already?” Shin was shocked with his question. Is he thinking that Liza is his mate?

He stops for a while and think. He tried to back track his action, it might really look like she is indeed his mate, and then an idea came.

“Yes father.” He twisted his fingers and hope that his lies won’t show.

“Then let her be. This did not just happen.” He whispered.

“Of course father.” He then walks back with the Alpha to the stage.

But as soon as he landed his eyes on the stage he started to feel mad, really mad. Jenica is now standing next to Ginji, and his father Jaime is talking to them. He can hear the Beta convincing Ginji that they are a good pair.

Ginji’s arm is wrapped around Jenica’s waist.

Ginji was looking straight into his eye’s.

He definitely knew, these are the words inside Shin’s mind. He closes his fist ready to pounce.

“Excuse me.” It was Yo. “Uncle, can I borrow Shin for a moment, my cousins just arrived I will introduce them to him, he might find his mate there.” His smile was so fake, that he almost looks like a gigolo.

He was literally dragged by his friend, out of the stage.

Rei the Alpha thinks it is the best for now, no one should know that the daughter of Veronica is his son’s rejected mate.

Anyway she was already rejected; nothing good will come on this maiden’s life. Not while he is alive.

Rei joined the table; he saw his son together with Jenica and Jaime the Beta who are talking to each other on the other side of the table. He decided to observe, he smile with the idea of his son, being partner with the Beta’s daughter. Jenica might be young, but she has the ability to be a Luna, she might be short but her wolf is powerful. He knew that the Beta is training her, making sure she will have her way.

The fight for being the next Luna is still on, and until now he hasn’t find the right woman yet. The best Luna is a powerful one, she who can withstand the power bested upon them. Unlike his previous Luna who’s weak, she does not deserve the title.

He would love to get another one, but Diana did not accept his rejection. She needs to accept his rejection for him to be free. But the previous Luna swore to protect Shin by not accepting his rejection.

“What were you thinking?” Yo asked Shin. “Are you out of your mind?” He questioned again.

“Sorry, I can’t help it.” Shin answered honestly.

“You know you have to, there’s nothing else to do for now, we need to wait for her to realize that you are her mate.” Yo was right, there is really nothing else to do now.

He might want to start the mating process, but she is too young, plus the fact that she is fan girling his brother can make things worse.

“I think Ginji knows.” Shin said.

“Nope, he is just guessing, the more you show this kind of feeling, the more he will suspect you.” Yo said in a matter of fact tune.

“Plus my father thought that Liza is my mate and that I rejected her already.” He added.

“What on earth?” Yo asked with confusion.

“Uhm, it was because I help her a while ago. Maybe he saw me talking to her, and then when I went back from the kitchen she was on the back of the stage crying.” He explained.

“What a coincident.” Yo said.

“Lucky me, but I hope this won’t make Liza life even harder.” Shin said.

“Whatever man, Liza is there for your disposal, she is the traitors daughter remember?” He reminded Shin of a fact that he really couldn’t do anything.
