'Your Highness... did you just call me?'

Finally, Remi's voice echoed in my mind.

'Yes. Wait for me at your house. I'm bringing Keala. She is badly injured and poisoned.'

There was a sharp inhale on her end, then her startled murmur came through before she steadied herself.

'Yes, Your Highness. I will prepare everything we need to treat her...'

At the exact moment, Elijah and his team appeared in the distance. I didn't have the time to waste words.

"Elijah! Investigate this body," I ordered, nodding toward the lifeless witch sprawled in the dirt. "I have to go now. I need to bring Keala to Remi's place. Come and follow me there once you've secured everything."

Without waiting for their response, I lifted Keala from the ground.

Her blood smeared across my arms, her weight frighteningly light as I cradled her against me. Her breathing was shallow, erratic, as though death was clawing at her throat with every second.

I teleported us instantly, the world blurring into nothingness before

The scent of sizzling butter and fresh bread filled the cabin, wrapping around me like a comforting embrace. I stirred the pan carefully, forcing my hand to stay steady even though my heart wouldn't stop fluttering with worry.Breakfast. Something so simple. Something ordinary. But this morning, it felt like the only way I could show Veldrin how much I cherished him. I couldn't shoulder his burdens as King, not fully, but I could do this. I could make sure the first thing he tasted today was warmth and love, not blood and iron.Behind me, I heard the soft sound of boots against the wooden floor, followed by a familiar scent. I turned, and there he was, my King, my mate. Veldrin. His broad shoulders carried the weight of a crown, but it was his eyes that undid me. I searched them immediately, desperate to see if he was hurt. Relief loosened my chest when I found no blood, no wounds. Still, there was exhaustion there, profound and heavy, a kind of weariness that will require severa

  • The Outcast Luna Becomes The Lycan Queen   Veldrin: I'm Furious!

I didn't answer him immediately.I also didn't kill him. Not yet.Instead, I force myself to speak evenly. "As long as she breathes, you have to be thankful! And, I will ensure whoever was behind this... regrets ever daring to raise a hand against one of mine."The room fell into silence, my words hanging heavy, thick with the promise of vengeance. Every elder in the room stiffened, caught between the weight of my fury and the dread of what I might do with it.One of the quieter elders finally cleared his throat and spoke, voice trembling despite his attempt at calm. "Then tell us, Your Highness. Who is bold enough to move against you? Against the kingdom itself?"I tilted my head, fighting the urge to sneer. His question wasn't driven by wisdom; it was driven by fear. "That's what I intend to find out. But whoever it is, they want us rattled. They want to test my rule by striking at my warriors.""And it worked." Wulfgar's tone was thick with scorn. He leaned forward, meeting my ga

My day wasn't over even after the sun started to rise on the horizon. My body screamed for rest. My mind longed to return to the cabin, to my mate, where I could finally breathe. But this problem simply refused to let me rest. The chaos circling in the kingdom pressed down like a storm I couldn't escape. And my grandfather's voice rang in my mind every time I tried to steady my breathing.'Veldrin, the other elders request an urgent meeting. They want to know what truly happened in the kingdom.''They are now waiting for you at my house. You have to come now. Or will I take them to your castle?'I still ignore him. But another voice echoes in my mind. 'Wulfgar, he is furious to learn of his granddaughter's injury. He needs you to explain.'I clenched my fists at the reminder. Keala. One of my most trusted warriors had nearly lost her life under my command. The poison that almost destroyed her body was a direct insult to me and to everything I ruled in this land."It seems I can't

  • The Outcast Luna Becomes The Lycan Queen   Veldrin: I Don't Want To Die!

I pinched the bridge of my nose while complaining to the Moon Goddess to pair me with a guardian who only speaks in sarcasm. "Listen, Ky, you couldn't just... kill quietly? This mess... What if Rissa woke up and saw it? She might have fainted!""Oh, sure," he snorted. "Next time assassins show up at your doorstep, I'll politely ask them to die without making a mess. Maybe light some candles too, to set the mood."I glared at him, though my lips twitched hearing his humor. "You're impossible. But, thank you, Ky!""Flattery won't distract me, Veldrin..." he said, tossing a bone aside with a clatter. "You were late. That's the point. You felt the distraction, didn't you? And you almost followed it."That made my spine stiff. He wasn't wrong.I'd been seconds away from running off after shadows, leaving my mate vulnerable. My gut soured at the thought.Kyrex smirked when he saw the gloominess in my eyes. "Congratulations, you just passed lesson one of 'How Not to Be a Gullible Idiot King

  • The Outcast Luna Becomes The Lycan Queen   Veldrin: You Are Really Late!

"Elijah," I called sharply. Within moments, he appeared at the doorway, his warriors fanning out behind him. Their tension mirrored mine, hands itching for blades, eyes scanning the shadows like predators waiting to strike."Your Majesty." He bowed quickly before his gaze landed on the corpse. His jaw tightened. "We arrived too late."My glare cut through him. "How did this happen? You told me he was captured alive."Elijah straightened, his tone steady though I could feel the unease beneath it. "He was before I went to report to you. I checked it myself. His pulse was strong, unconscious but breathing when we handed him to Rowan's men. This…” He gestured at the lifeless body. "… must've happened after."A slow breath escaped me, though it did nothing to cool the fury burning in my chest. Whoever orchestrated this wasn't careless. They wanted me chasing shadows. Distracted."Elijah, trace for any magic in his body. Find the thread. Tear the earth apart if you must, but you have to
