They aren't mates.

She knew that even before she turned 18 because how could the moon goddess match two people who are the exact opposite? She's lively when he's gloomy; she's all about fun when all he talks about is responsibility.

She hates him, and as far as she knows, he hates her, too.

And that's not just because she rejected him in their high school's crowded cafeteria, with a mocking tone no less.

The tone was what she regrets the most right now--

Now when she's standing in his office on the 66th floor, begging for his help.

"Why are you here?" The man lay back leisurely, his lips curved in pleasure.

Can she answer that she wants to punch that smirk off his face?

"You know why I'm here!" She barely managed to keep her tone cool.

"I really don't." The smile on his face grew wider.

"My dad is in a coma, and mom has also fallen sick..." She took a deep breath, gathering her courage and dropping her pride, "the shareholders of my dad's company is looking to rip him of his title. I need one billion dollars to keep the company."

"What do I get out of this?" He nodded, looking impatient.

He obviously already knew about her situation and was just teasing her with it! Her fists shook due to her anger.

"Two billion," She kept her head cool, her family needs her right now, "You will get two billion in return once our company pass this crisis."

"Do I seem lacking of money?" He finally laughs, his eyes taunting.

"...?!"

It took her several deep breath to force the tears back into her eye sockets.

"What does it take for you to help?!" She failed to keep her voice low but she barely noticed. He is her last resort when all the rich families in the city are looking for biting a chunk off her poor father at this minute.

She needed that money.

She doesn't know if she's super lucky or unlucky that her one true enemy is capable of helping, and is not participating in the dissecting of her family's business.

The man stands up from his luxury seat, finally.

Sorting his obviously expensive suit lazily for longer than she could bare, he reaches his hand to her with a smirk: "Marry me, and you will get the money. No other strings attached."

"Are you fucking crazy?!" She snapped, slapping his hand away.

He just stands there, smiling at her. Not even looking mad at her rudeness.

There could be a billion reasons why he wants to marry her, and none of them would be good with the last of them be "love". That's all she knew.

"Aren't my family humiliated enough?!" She finally burst into tears, "I did reject you, I'm sorry! But humiliating you wasn't my intention!"

She just didn't care about his feelings either.

For the first time, the man stopped smiling. He gazes at her for a moment with an inscrutable look before he opens his mouth again: "Revenge is not what I'm after."

"Then what is?!" She snaps, still in tears, like a bullied but mean kitten.

"Hmm...marriage?" He let out a low laugh, handing her a tissue.

"..."

"What do you got do lose, hmm?" He smirks, tilting his head to find her eyes when she turns to avoid his tease, "A husband on paper for a billion dollars. I'd do it if it were me."

She throws him a murderous look and he burst into laughter.

She doesn't have a choice.

That day she married her one, true enemy...well, on paper. She doesn't even get a wedding. It's long after that horrifying day when she almost has forgotten how desperate and scared she was when she went to him for help that he told her--

You have always been the one thing I wanted, baby doll.

She blames him for that. If he didn't spoil her into the capricious princess she is; if he didn't indulge her at all her unreasonable request; if he didn't come to her rescue, when her life was all but a dark room, suffocating her. Then he broke her heart and left. He is the most powerful man in the city; he is the genius who took over a billions-worth empire at the young age of 20; he made himself a name from an orphan who wasn't picked till he was 15. He is her grandpa's adopted son when that grandpa lost faith in his only child who has no talent in business. He makes her call him, Uncle. She knew, it

#dailyprompts 15thUp for take, no strings attached---She fell for the wrong man.He is not the only rich man in the city, but no one dares to cross him. It costs not just money, but lives if anyone dares to try. Not even "the shark" -- the iron-wrist business man, his own father -- could control him. Or he wouldn't have left the rich life young at 16 to make his own name, and to build an even bigger empire himself. But that's not why she shouldn't have fallen for him. She shouldn't because, she has to call him "Uncle Ted"."He is my brother and he calls your dear grandpa father!" Her father slapped her on the face, leaving five finger-shaped red lines on her tender cheeks, "How dare you even open your mouth to me?!""He is adopted, so." She shrugged, wiping off the blood on the corner of her lips slowly with a calm tone, "Grandpa only adopted him because you don't have what it takes to lead the company--"She gritted her teeth and closed her eyes when her father raised his hand aga

  • The Path Of Writing   Tips - Character

If an outline is the back bone of a story, then the characters are the veins. The whole story is presented through the characters' actions, decisions, and emotions, and it's the characters of a story that brings it to life.Even if you can make a story work without an outline, you can't without characters. For main characters, we will talk about characters in these parts: character setting, character arch, and character building. [TBC in case I missed some important parts]. Supporting characters will be simpler, and would only have one part about them.1 Character Setting2 Character Arc3 Character Building4 Supporting Characters-----1 Character SettingThis part provides the drive of your story to move forward, so it's VERY important, the kind of I-cannot-stress-enough important!!!G00gle if you don't know what character setting is. Here I will give examples on how your CS (character setting drives your story forward), and explain why.Eg.1 A pretty girl in school has a crush on
