They aren't mates.

She knew that even before she turned 18 because how could the moon goddess match two people who are the exact opposite? She's lively when he's gloomy; she's all about fun when all he talks about is responsibility.

She hates him, and as far as she knows, he hates her, too.

And that's not just because she rejected him in their high school's crowded cafeteria, with a mocking tone no less.

The tone was what she regrets the most right now--

Now when she's standing in his office on the 66th floor, begging for his help.

"Why are you here?" The man lay back leisurely, his lips curved in pleasure.

Can she answer that she wants to punch that smirk off his face?

"You know why I'm here!" She barely managed to keep her tone cool.

"I really don't." The smile on his face grew wider.

"My dad is in a coma, and mom has also fallen sick..." She took a deep breath, gathering her courage and dropping her pride, "the shareholders of my dad's company is looking to rip him of his title. I need one billion dollars to keep the company."

"What do I get out of this?" He nodded, looking impatient.

He obviously already knew about her situation and was just teasing her with it! Her fists shook due to her anger.

"Two billion," She kept her head cool, her family needs her right now, "You will get two billion in return once our company pass this crisis."

"Do I seem lacking of money?" He finally laughs, his eyes taunting.

"...?!"

It took her several deep breath to force the tears back into her eye sockets.

"What does it take for you to help?!" She failed to keep her voice low but she barely noticed. He is her last resort when all the rich families in the city are looking for biting a chunk off her poor father at this minute.

She needed that money.

She doesn't know if she's super lucky or unlucky that her one true enemy is capable of helping, and is not participating in the dissecting of her family's business.

The man stands up from his luxury seat, finally.

Sorting his obviously expensive suit lazily for longer than she could bare, he reaches his hand to her with a smirk: "Marry me, and you will get the money. No other strings attached."

"Are you fucking crazy?!" She snapped, slapping his hand away.

He just stands there, smiling at her. Not even looking mad at her rudeness.

There could be a billion reasons why he wants to marry her, and none of them would be good with the last of them be "love". That's all she knew.

"Aren't my family humiliated enough?!" She finally burst into tears, "I did reject you, I'm sorry! But humiliating you wasn't my intention!"

She just didn't care about his feelings either.

For the first time, the man stopped smiling. He gazes at her for a moment with an inscrutable look before he opens his mouth again: "Revenge is not what I'm after."

"Then what is?!" She snaps, still in tears, like a bullied but mean kitten.

"Hmm...marriage?" He let out a low laugh, handing her a tissue.

"..."

"What do you got do lose, hmm?" He smirks, tilting his head to find her eyes when she turns to avoid his tease, "A husband on paper for a billion dollars. I'd do it if it were me."

She throws him a murderous look and he burst into laughter.

She doesn't have a choice.

That day she married her one, true enemy...well, on paper. She doesn't even get a wedding. It's long after that horrifying day when she almost has forgotten how desperate and scared she was when she went to him for help that he told her--

You have always been the one thing I wanted, baby doll.
