Nyx’s Pov
I was still choking on the luxury of Caspian’s home when he leaned in and said. “What if we sign a deal?" “What deal? I am not interested in any silly games, Alpha Caspian” I said, turning down whatever he had in mind. “I don't have any intention of being a pawn in your games." But with that same maddening smirk, he snapped his fingers. “Maybe you just need to remember what comfort feels like.” He said and stood up. He pulled out his phone and the next thing was the maids rushing in one after the other. “Get her washed up and change her clothes and bring her back when she’s done.” They gently pulled me along like I didn’t have a say in the matter and soon I was out of Caspian’s sight. I didn’t argue, I was tired, messy, and angry, and honestly…. I wanted a goddamn shower. I cleaned myself up in a warm bath with flowers, brushed my tangled hair, and they gave me a dress. I was in the softest, silkiest nightie I’d ever touched. But the second I looked at myself in the mirror, my stomach fluttered. It was light, too light. Sheer in places that made my skin prickle. It felt good, I hadn't felt that way in days now. I just couldn't take a hold of why Caspian would go this far to do everything to make me feel free and comfortable. I deserve freedom, but it felt strange coming from someone I just met a few hours ago. Despite the comfort…. My heart bled in pain, nothing would seem better until I had my son back in my arms and those jerks on those knees begging for mercy. The maids led me to a room. I hesitated at the threshold when I saw Caspian—seated by the window, one leg crossed over the other, a drink in his hand, and his gaze, slow and deliberate as it moved over me. He was staring harshly at me, almost as if he didn't realize when I entered and I was just there. I cleared my throat sharply. “Alpha Caspian.” His gaze snapped up to reality, like he was caught doing something sinful. He arched a brow and muttered. “You clean up well.” I ignored that. “We didn’t finish our conversation.” He tilted his glass lazily. “There’s nothing to finish. Go to bed, Nyx.” “Am I allowed to have my own room, or is this some weird ‘Alpha hospitality’ thing?” I asked arching my brows. He smirked again, then stood. That same dangerous calm around him made the air feel thinner. “I couldn't let you go to bed looking all messy, could I?” “Why did you tell them to dress me like this? I could have had a better thing to wear than this.” I protested, my gaze sharply placed on him. “Is this another game to see how far you can push me before I snap?” He moved closer, so close I could smell the cedarwood in his scent again. “I told you I have a deal for you. Whatever I do, you’ll need to accept it,” he whispered. “No, that's not okay” I said instantly. “Tell me what you want. I’m not accepting anything blindly.” He exhaled slowly like I was draining out his patience. “The reason you’re here…. The reason why I brought you into my home, is because I need you to fulfill something for me.” I frowned. “I have nothing for you.” He reached up, gently tucking a loose strand of my hair behind my ear, his fingers grazing the back of my neck. That single touch sent an unexpected shiver down my spine. I hated how my breath caught. “Oh, you have more than you think,” he said, lowering his voice, “Yoi have a cure.” He was basically spewing nonsense at this point. “Cure? Cure for what?” I asked raising my brows. He grabbed my wrist as I tried to step away, not hard enough to harm me but firm enough to keep me in place. He stared at me straight into my eyes like he could see my soul. “If you don’t get your acts together, Nyx, you might lose everything. I on the other hand can’t lose. If you want to, fine—do it on your own. But I won’t.” I blinked, stunned. My heart raced. He let go. “Find out however you need to. If you're ready to find the cure, I'll tell you what I need it for.” “I’m not some healer, Alpha Caspian! I don’t know what’s wrong with you or what you need a cure for but I can assure you have the wrong person… I’m not listening to you. I have my son to find,” I said , contemplating if I should try to leave or not. “You’ll do it.” His voice dropped. “Eventually but first you need to know what you're going to get for doing it alone.” No mater how hard it was to admit to myself …. I knew I couldn't take down Zade and his bitch alone. I couldn't take back Liam alone from Zade. He's manipulative. I can't go back weak as I once was. “Go to bed. You'll need it.” Alpha Caspian said, interrupting my thoughts. He walked out, leaving me there with a dozen questions that burned like fire behind my ribs. I still couldn't sleep later at night. The silence in the mansion was way too heavy, too unnatural. I suddenly needed air. I stepped into the hallway quietly and wandered toward the garden windows. Suddenly I heard voices. I froze on the spot. Two ladies stood by, I presumed they were part of the maids in the pack. They were whispering, and with calmness, I strained my ears. “…the Alpha finally found his mate.” A sharp giggle followed. “About time. Maybe now everything will go back to normal and we'll be at ease in the pack. It's almost as if he has been at war with himself.” I pressed my back to the wall and swallowed hard. His mate? Could that be me? I really hoped that wasn't me. No. That’s not what this is. This can’t be what this is. Was it a good thing? A bad thing? “Yeah, snd he even asked us to set a bath for her. He never does that for his mistresses and now he has sent them all out. She's definitely his mate!” another said. I listened closely and thought, “Does he really need a cure? Was it important?” I stood there in the moonlight lit hallway, my hand instinctively rested on my abdomen. On the very side Liam kicks when he was still in the womb. As I stood there, the cold air brushing against my skin.. I thought… . Is this the way I get my son back?Nyx's Pov Warm lips brushed over mine. Soft at first, then firmer. I stirred, blinking against the light that was just beginning to filter through the curtains.“Good morning,” Caspian whispered, his voice still husky with sleep.I smiled and sighed against his kiss. “I love my mornings like this.”His chest shook with laughter. “Mornings that start with me?”“Yes,” I teased, wrapping my arms around his neck. “Don’t you dare stop. Ever.”He kissed me again, longer this time, before pulling back just enough to look at me. His eyes shone in a way that made my chest ache.“I’m happy,” he said softly.I brushed my hand over his jaw. “I can see that.”“No, Nyx,” he whispered, kissing the corner of my lips. “I mean it. I’m very happy. You. Liam. And soon… our baby will be here.”My smile widened. “Yes. Soon.”But before I could say more, the door burst open.“Mama!”Liam’s little voice carried through the room like a song. He ran in, his small feet pattering against the wooden floor. I bar
Caspian's Pov The sound of drums carried through the courtyard, soft at first, then louder as the evening went on. Torches lit every corner, laughter and music filling the air. Humans and wolves danced side by side, the walls of separation gone at last. And there she was, sitting beside me.Nyx.Her hair caught the glow of the fire, her lips curved into a smile that made my chest ache. She leaned toward me every now and then, whispering small things, her fingers brushing mine. For the first time in years, I felt peace.“You’re quiet,” she said softly, her head tilting to look at me.I smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Just watching you.”Her cheeks warmed. “Why?”“Because you’re beautiful. Because I can finally breathe knowing you’re here, safe, with me.”Her smile grew, her eyes bright. “I am happy, Caspian. Truly.”I swallowed, my throat tight. “Are you?”She nodded without hesitation. “Yes. Happier than I have ever been.”The words nearly broke me. I kissed her han
Nyx's Pov When I reached for Caspian through the mindlink, I wasn’t sure it would work. My voice had been weak, my strength nearly gone. But something in me had whispered to try to call his name one last time. To see if he would hear me.And then, he came. The sound of chains rattling echoed in the dungeon before the door slammed open. My heart stopped when I saw him standing there, framed in the doorway. His shoulders broad, his chest rising and falling, his eyes burning like fire. And in his arms was Liam.Tears blurred my vision. He looked alive, safe, untouched. And Caspian…oh, Caspian his eyes watered as they landed on me. For a second, he didn’t move. He just stood there, staring at me like I was something holy, like he was afraid that if he blinked, I would disappear.“Nyx…” His voice cracked on my name. It wasn’t just a word. It was a prayer. My lips trembled. I tried to push myself up from the floor, but my body gave out. He moved instantly, crossing the room in two long str
Caspian's Pov The moment the circle flared around me, I knew I was trapped. I couldn't move an inch. I was stuck in the circle and I hated it. I felt the fire burn against my skin, a heat that went straight to my bones. Every time I tried to move forward, pain shot through me, tearing at my muscles, ripping at my chest. I dropped to one knee, my claws digging into the ground, my breath harsh and ragged. I felt utterly helpless. The word echoed in my head like a curse. I was the Alpha, the one everyone looked to, the one Nyx trusted with her life. But here I was, on my knees, trapped like a weakling, my power locked away by a witch’s spell. I had failed her. I had failed Nyx. Failed the child she carried. Failed Liam. I slammed my fists into the ground, trying to break the circle, but the fire only flared brighter. Agony tore through my chest and I roared, but it was useless. The harder I fought, the stronger the pain became. From outside the circle, Zade’s laughter cut throu
Zade's Pov When I left the dungeon with Nyx’s blood in my hands, I felt a sense of satisfaction. Draven following close behind me. When I entered my room, Keira was already there, waiting like she always did, her eyes sharp, hungry for answers. She stood by the window, arms folded, her gaze snapping to the vial in my hand. “You got it,” she said softly. I held it up between us, the dark liquid swirling inside. “Her blood.” Her lips parted. “And what will you do with it?” I smirked, walking over to the table and setting the vial down carefully. “What I should have done long ago. Drink it.” Draven shifted behind me, uneasy. “Are you sure it will work, Zade? What if blood alone isn’t enough? What if…” I turned on him sharply, my voice like a whip. “Silence.” He dropped his gaze. I picked up the vial again, uncorked it, and held it close. For a second, the scent hit me so hard I nearly lost control. Nyx’s blood. Her power. Her life. All mine. Without hesitation, I tilted the v
Caspian's Pov The fortress loomed in front of us like a shadow that refused to move. We had been camped outside for hours, watching, waiting, listening for any sound, any sign of her. My chest felt like it was being ripped open with every passing minute. Nyx was inside. I knew it. I felt it. Rowan came up behind me, his voice low. “We caught one.” My head snapped around. “Where?” “By the east wall. He was trying to sneak out, probably to report. Kyle and I dragged him into the tent. He’s chained already.” A growl rumbled in my throat before I could stop it. Finally. I had been itching to kill something, anything, and now I had my chance. I stalked through the camp, my warriors parting without a word. The air was thick with tension. Everyone knew what was coming. War was sitting on the edge, waiting for me to give the command. When I entered the tent, I saw him immediately. One of Draven’s men. His hands were chained, his face pale, his body shaking. Rowan stood beside him, a
