"How is he doing?" Asked deep male voice. "He is doing better," replied another female voice. "You should inform me when he wakes up," the man instructed. "Alright sir," replied the woman. Richard heard the footsteps of the man walking away. He thought everything was a dream. His eyes were heavier than ever. But at last, he finally opened them. He found himself lying on a small sick bed with an intravenous drip attached to his hand. He felt the intensity of the pain in his lower right abdomen that he couldn't even move properly.
He looked around and he discovered that he was in a hospital. It was a huge hall with over 50 sick beds arranged in rows. It was so crowded with people most of which they come to visit the sick people. Some of them were sitting on chairs, some were sitting by the edge of the beds while some were standing. About a week later, Richard was finally getting discharge from the hospital. He woke up the next morning think about how he could persuade the women on staying. They told him the night before that they would take him back to his family. He woke up early in the morning and sat on his sick. About 2 months later, Richard has gotten much better and Mama Ruth had worked really hard to get him a work in a poultry farm a cleaner. He usually sleeps with the eldest son of the family and one of the twins in the living room. The eldest usually comes home very late at night after everyone had slept. It had been five years since Richard left home. Things were working out for him so well in the poultry farm. The owner of the poultry farm trusted Richard so much that she put him to be in charge of supplying food. Somehow, she new Richard was different all the workers she had employed before. She had tested his honesty several time times, but he proved to her that he worth it.But what confused her most about Richard was the fact that he doesn't get involved in any social activity. He spend all of his life in the poultry farm and only go out when need to order food for the animals arises. And she had never seen him spending any of the money she had been paying him. It was Monday morning. Rebecca was sleeping on forgetting completely about going to school. Her mother was transferred to University of Porthacort four years ago. She had been studying medicine and surgery for the past 3 years. it was a very special day, because it was the begging of a new session for her as a 400 level student. It was also a special day because her mother mother will assume office as the new vice chancellor of the universe."Wake up sleepy head, did you forget that you are taking Emmanuel to school today?" He mother said as she walked into her room. "Oh please mom, I slept very late last night," Rebecca said as she rolled over to the other side of the bed. It was very big bed enough to contain five people. Opposite to the bed was a dressing attached to a white drawing mirror. On the mirror were all sorts of makeup kit. Beside the mirror was a closet with all sorts of clothes and shoes. And on the floor was a very soft blue carpet.

Richard had just arrived at the university. He wrote the entrance exams into to the university three months and appeared with the best result among those that applied for computer engineering. He arrived at university looking so rough like he had been for the past five years. He was wearing one of the five pairs of oversized clothes he had been wearing for the past 3 years. He didn't care for a second about what other people will say about him. He vowed to himself that he will never be in any form of relationship with any girl.He arrived at his faculty which was a 12 storey building. Richard was so amazed by how beautiful the building was. It so much bigger than that of his former school. He kept the bag he was holding in his hand and proceeded with only the one he was carrying on his back to the entrance of his faculty. In the evening, Richard had already settled. He tried his best to fall asleep, but he couldn't. He kept thinking about Rebecca and the words she said to him. He regretted why he left school and his family. He wished he had endured all the criticism people laid on him back then about Janet's death. He thought about his sisters and niece and imagined how she might have grown up. He thought about Rebecca to the extend that it drove him crazy. Richard became totally disorientated after seeing Rebecca. More than ever, he regretted why left. He remembered about the good times they used to have and how happy she used to be when she see him. One week later, Richard and Thomas woke up early in the morning. It was the first they were supposed to have their first lectures in the university.
