Quiet Observations

last update Date de publication: 2026-04-10 19:24:44

By the end of her first day, Amy felt like she’d been dropped into some carefully designed ecosystem where every part had its place.

Theo’s schedule didn’t leave much room for surprises. Amy went through the motions with her phone in hand, making sure she didn’t miss anything. Theo made it easy - always smiling, always ready to let the world know when he was tired, and already showing a preference for clinging to her whenever she held him and hummed.

But dealing with Damien Ross was a different story.

He slipped around the penthouse so quietly she sometimes wondered if she imagined him. Always watching, always present, but never hovering. Sometimes she’d look up and spot him in a doorway or on the other side of a room, eyes fixed on her. Again, not in a creepy way - just an evaluating one. Taking mental notes.

That night, when Theo was finally down for the night, she went to the kitchen looking for something to eat. She was halfway through slicing an apple when she felt the air shift behind her.

Damien walked in, still in the dark shirt he’d worn all day, sleeves pushed up, arms folded as he leaned against the counter with a bottle of water.

He stood close enough that she could feel his warmth in the space between them.

“You’ve learned how to handle things fast,” he said quietly, his voice wrapped in the calm hush of the kitchen.

“Most of the nannies before you were overwhelmed by the second day.”

Amy kept her eyes on the apple. “Theo’s a lovely baby. Routines help.”

He retreated to staying silent, just watching - first her hands, then her face. The moment stretched out, becoming heavy enough that she started to fidget.

“You bite your lip when you’re focused,” he said, so soft it sounded like he was thinking out loud.

“You did it while you changed Theo this morning. And again this afternoon when Serena stopped by.”

She froze, cheeks suddenly hot. She had not realized he was paying attention to little things like that. She set down the knife and turned, using the counter as a shield.

“Is there something you need, Mr. Ross?”

His eyes locked onto hers, and his lips curved slightly in a shadow of a smile. He took a sip of water, put the bottle down, and stepped closer, cutting the space between them in half - still not touching her, just filling the room with his presence.

“You still won’t call me Damien.”

“I like to keep things professional.”

There it was again - the quick flicker of irritation before his face turned blank again.

He set the bottle down and took one step closer, eliminating more than half the distance between them. He didn’t touch her, or attempt to. He simply stood in front of her, tall and composed, his presence doing all the speaking.

“Professional,” he echoed, like he was trying on the word.

“You draw all these tidy boundaries and expect them to mean something. It’s almost admirable.”

He leaned in, voice dropping lower.

“You don’t fit here, Amy. You’re too steady. You’re not interested in the game that begins when people smell money.”

He hesitated, like he was about to say something he shouldn’t.

“That… annoys me.”

She felt her pulse stutter, but she held her ground.

“Maybe you should have hired someone who would play along.”

He let out the thinnest, darkest smile.

“That would have been easier. Boring, but easier.”

Then he moved just enough for her to catch the clean, expensive trace of his cologne.

“Instead, I have you. Quiet, stubborn, trying very hard not to look at me right now.”

Their eyes caught and held. The kitchen shrank down to just the two of them.

Amy swallowed.

“I should get some rest. Theo wakes early.”

She moved to slip past him.

Damien didn’t block her path, but he turned his body so she had to brush close to him to leave. As her arm grazed his, he spoke again, soft and low, right beside her ear.

“You’re safe behind your rules tonight, Amy. But this house has a way of making lines blur.”

Then he stepped aside, letting her pass.

Amy walked back to her room on unsteady legs, heart hammering. She closed the door behind her and leaned against it, breathing hard.

She had promised herself she’d keep it simple and keep a distance.

But Damien Ross wasn’t about flashy charm or big gestures.

He was patient. And patience was dangerous.

Damien’s penthouse had never felt so small.Amy sat on the edge of his massive bed, wearing nothing but his black dress shirt, while he paced the room like a caged animal. Theo was finally asleep in the nursery after a long battle of tears and rocking. The silence between them felt heavier than the chaos exploding outside these walls.“They want a restraining order against me,” Amy whispered, staring at her hands.“They’re saying I’m a flight risk. That I might run with Theo. How the hell did my life become this?”Damien finally stopped pacing. In two strides, he was in front of her, dropping to his knees and gripping her thighs.“Because Serena is desperate,” he said fiercely.“And because I finally stopped pretending I don’t want you.”He rested his forehead against her knee for a moment, breathing hard.“I should have ended things with her cleanly years ago. I thought giving her access to Theo would be enough. I was wrong.”Amy threaded her fingers through his dark hair, the gest

Damien slowly pulled his fingers from Amy’s body, his expression shifting from raw lust to cold, murderous fury in a heartbeat. He ended the call and tossed the phone onto the nightstand like it had personally offended him.“Serena filed for emergency custody,” he said, his voice deceptively calm.“She’s claiming you’re unfit. That I’m endangering Theo by getting involved with you.”Amy felt like the floor had dropped out from under her.She sat up quickly, pulling her dress down with shaking hands.“She can’t do that. She can’t just ... Theo barely even knows her compared to me. I’ve been the one here every day. Feeding him, playing with him, and rocking him when he cries at night.”Damien’s jaw was clenched so tight she thought it might crack. He stood and started pacing like a caged lion, running both hands through his hair.“She’s trying to punish me,” he growled.“Using you as the weapon. She knows hitting Theo is the only way to get to me.”Amy’s eyes filled with fresh tears

Damien put the call on the phone's loud speaker, his body still tense with unreleased hunger.“Talk,” he snapped.“Sir,” his head of security, Marcus, sounded grim.“We have a situation. Serena just held an impromptu press conference outside the building. She’s claiming Amy is trying to replace her as Theo’s mother, that you’re using the new nanny to punish her, and… she’s implying Amy might be unstable and a danger to Theo.”Amy felt the blood drain from her face.Damien’s expression turned murderous.“What else?”Marcus hesitated.“She showed photos. Private ones. Some from inside the penthouse - Amy holding Theo and you two looking… intimate at the gala. She’s painting Amy as a gold-digging homewrecker who manipulated her way into the job. It’s trending everywhere. Stock mentions are already taking a hit.”The phone call ended, but the silence that followed was worse.Amy stood frozen, still holding Theo tightly against her chest like he could protect her from the world collapsin

  • The Playboy Billionaire's Nanny    Point Of No Return

Amy stared at her ringing phone like it was a live grenade. Aunt Clara’s name flashed across the screen, bright and accusing.Beside it, the gossip alert kept pulsing: Serena Vale Speaks Out.Damien didn’t give her time to think. He reached past her, snatched the phone off the bedside table, and silenced the call with a decisive swipe. Then he tossed it onto the bed, far out of her reach.“Damien!” Amy hissed, trying to step around him.“That’s my aunt-”“I know exactly who it is.”His voice was dark, rough, and vibrating with barely leashed hunger. He caught her by the waist and pulled her back against him, her back flush to his chest.“And right now, I don’t give a fuck about Clara, Serena, or the entire goddamn internet.”One large hand of his splayed possessively across her stomach while the other tilted her head to the side, exposing her neck. His mouth descended without warning - hot, open, and ruthless. He sucked hard at the sensitive spot just below her ear, then soothed it wi

The door clicked shut behind Aunt Clara, leaving a heavy, charged silence in the suite.Damien’s stormy whiskey eyes were locked on Amy like he was a predator who had finally cornered its prey. He took one slow step forward, then another, until he was standing right in front of her.“Now,” he repeated, his voice low and rough, “where were we?”Amy’s breath caught. Theo was still in her arms, fussing lightly, but the baby’s presence barely registered against the overwhelming heat radiating from the man in front of her. Her lips still tingled from that fierce, claiming kiss. Her body felt electric and alive in a way that terrified her.“Damien…” she warned, but her voice came out breathy and weak.He reached out and gently took Theo from her arms, cradling the baby against his broad chest with surprising tenderness. Theo immediately quieted, grabbing onto his father’s shirt with a tiny fist.Damien didn’t break eye contact with Amy as he walked over and carefully placed Theo in his crib

The silence that followed Damien’s declaration was deafening.Aunt Clara stared at him like he had lost his mind.“Excuse me? She belongs here with you?” Her voice rose with disbelief and anger.“Damien, this is exactly what I warned her about. You don’t get to decide that for her. She is my niece, not another one of your disposable playthings.”Damien didn’t flinch. He stood tall, his shoulders squared, and his eyes locked on Amy with a burning intensity that made the air feel thick enough to choke on.“I’m not deciding for her,” he said, his voice low and controlled but laced with steel.“I’m telling you both the truth. Amy stopped being ‘just the nanny’ the moment she walked through that door and refused to play pretend. She’s different. And I’m not letting her run because of fear or gossip or your warnings.”Amy’s heart was beating so violently she felt dizzy. Theo was still in her arms, now sensing the heavy energy and starting to fuss again. She rocked him gently, but her eyes n
