LOGINNora 's POV
Dennis didn’t even wait for me to process what was happening. “You heard her,” he said flatly, his voice leaving no room for argument. “Go do it.” I stood there frozen, staring at him, waiting for even a flicker of hesitation, but there was nothing. Nadia leaned into him dramatically, her face already twisting like she was in pain. “My stuff is in that bag,” she said, pointing toward a small designer tote on the floor. “My underwear is in there too. I want you to wash everything properly.” My stomach tightened instantly. She sniffled like she was holding back tears, then continued. “And I want you to make me macaroni and cheese and buffalo wings, extra spicy. I’ve been craving it all day.” Her hand pressed against her stomach again. “And everything needs to be done in thirty minutes,” she said softly. “It’s the baby’s request.” “I’m not doing that,” I said firmly. The room shifted immediately. Nadia’s face crumpled like she had been struck. “Dennis …” she gasped, grabbing his arm. “Did you hear her? She doesn’t care about your child!” Her voice broke into full tears now, loud and messy. “I can’t believe this,” she cried. “I’m carrying your baby and she’s treating me like this on purpose. I think I just leave…I'll abort this baby, I can't suffer like this” Dennis stiffened instantly. “Nora …he warned, turning back to me. But Nadia wasn’t done. She stepped away from him slightly, shaking her head as tears streamed down her face. “I shouldn’t even be surprised,” she said bitterly, looking at me now. “Well, I don’t blame you. You’ve never carried a child, so you don’t know what it feels like.” “But I'm far better than a pregnant whore fucking her best friend's husband” Nadia wiped her tears dramatically and turned back to Dennis , clutching his shirt. “Dennis, did you hear her, she just called the mother of your child a whore! I don’t feel safe here,” she sobbed. “She’s stressing me out on purpose. What if she decides to harm me or the baby…I think I should leave. I don’t want anything to happen to the baby.” "Then leave!" I snapped, my voice cutting clean through her tears. Nadia blinked, clearly not expecting that. "Leave," I said again, louder this time. "Go ahead. Nobody is stopping you, you husband snatcher, and take your fake BBL with you!" Nadia's jaw dropped as she slowly turned back to face me. "What did you just say?" "Did I lie?" I shot back, stepping forward without flinching. "You home wrecker. Did you also tell him that you were once an escort and the body he is dying over is plastic and fake and has been used by millions of men?” My voice didn't shake this time. "You're nothing but a second hand sex toy.” The next thing I felt was a sharp crack across my face and my head snapped sideways from the force of it. I pressed my hand slowly to my cheek and turned back to face her. "Did you just slap me?" Nadia tilted her head, her eyes cold and glittering with satisfaction. "Yes," she said sweetly. "I'm sure it'll help you lose weight faster." She raised her hand again, but this time, my hand moved first and gave her a hot slap and she screamed in pain. "That," I said, my voice shaking with everything I had swallowed for five years, "is for betraying our friendship." Then I slapped her again. "And that is for sleeping with my husband." The silence lasted exactly one second then Nadia crumpled on the floor. She went down dramatically, one hand clutching her stomach as she hit the floor and began to writhe. "Dennis !" she screamed, her voice breaking into a full wail. "Dennis , help me! She wants to kill me! She hurt the baby, please help, please!” "Nadia!" He dropped to his knees beside her, both hands on her face. "Hey, hey, look at me. Where does it hurt?" "Take me to the hospital," she sobbed, grabbing his shirt. "I think I'm bleeding. Her plan finally worked… she killed our baby, Dennis … she killed our baby…" "Call 911!" Dennis shouted, his voice cracking with panic.. I stood there, frozen. "Dennis , I didn't…” "Call 911!" he screamed again, not even looking at me. Three hours passed before I heard the front door, I was on my feet before I could stop myself. "Dennis ." My voice came out smaller than I intended. "How is she?" He stopped walking, his back was to me. "Are you happy now?” He turned slowly, and the look on his face made my stomach drop. "Because of you," he said, his voice dangerously quiet, "Nadia is fighting for her life. And the life of my child." "Dennis , I…” "What kind of woman," he said, stepping toward me, "fights a pregnant woman?” "But you know she provoked me," I stammered, stepping back. "She slapped me first, I just…” He moved so fast I didn't see it coming.. His hand closed around my throat, walked me backward, one slow step at a time, until the night air hit my back and I realized the balcony doors were open behind me. "Dennis …" My voice broke. "What are you doing? Please… you know I'm scared of heights, please…" "So this was your plan." His voice was ice. "You wanted to kill my child." "No, I swear, I didn't…” His grip tightened slightly as he leaned closer, eyes black with fury.. "If Nadia has to go through pain," he said quietly, "you deserve ten times worse.” “Dennis please…don't do this, I beg you” His hand shoved me back hard and I lost my balance instantly.. My heels slipped against the floor as I tried to catch myself, but there was nothing to grab onto. I hit the ground just inside the balcony doors, the impact knocking the breath clean out of my lungs before darkness claimed me fully.Chapter 64Genevieve's POV "There hasn't been any major public incident since the lunch meeting with Mr. Adams."I paused."That's strange, Dennis that I know would have launched another attack by now”"His legal team has been working aggressively behind the scenes to resolve the frozen accounts, but government investigators are still reviewing several financial records."I nodded thoughtfully."And the media?""They're still covering the investigation almost daily."She hesitated before continuing."Most shareholders are remaining quiet publicly, but internally there's growing concern.”I remained silent for a few moments, slowly tapping my pen against the polished mahogany desk."Dennis has gone quiet," I said at last. "And that's exactly what bothers me."Marissa nodded in agreement."I had the same thought, ma'am.""Dennis doesn't stay quiet unless he's planning something bigger. Every move he makes serves a purpose. If he isn't attacking publicly, then he's rebuilding his positi
Gabrielle's POV I walked into Lennox Global with a smile I hadn't worn in days. For the first time since everything happened with Dennis, the court case and my forced absence from work, I finally felt like myself again. The familiar sight of employees moving briskly across the lobby, the sound of elevator chimes and the quiet buzz of conversations somehow soothed me.I had missed this place. The receptionist was the first to notice me."Good morning, Mrs. Adams!”Almost immediately, several employees turned in my direction."Welcome back, ma'am!""It's good to have you back!""We've missed you."I smiled warmly at everyone as I made my way toward the executive elevator."Thank you. I've missed all of you too."The elevator doors opened onto the executive floor, and before I could take two steps, someone came running toward me."Mrs. Adams!"Marissa. She threw her arms around me without the slightest hesitation.I laughed as I hugged her back."Easy there."She pulled away almost imme
Genevieve's POV Patricia reached for her glass of orange juice and took a satisfied sip before looking at me over the rim of the glass."So..." she said with a knowing smile. "When are you finally resuming work?""Tomorrow."Her face lit up immediately."Finally! I was beginning to think your husband had permanently confiscated your office.”I laughed, shaking my head."You have no idea how difficult it was convincing him.""I can imagine."I leaned back against the sofa with an amused sigh."Norman can be unbelievably stubborn when he thinks he's protecting someone. Every time I brought up work, he'd remind me that my health came first and the company could survive a few more days without me.”Patricia chuckled."He's not wrong.""I know he isn't," I admitted. "But try explaining that to someone who has an entire company waiting for her. I practically had to negotiate like I was closing a billion-dollar acquisition before he finally agreed to let me resume tomorrow.""And what final
Genevieve's POV The final document slid neatly into its folder, and I leaned back in my chair with a satisfied sigh.Finally.For the first time in what felt like forever, my desk no longer looked like a disaster zone.Stacks of contracts had been reviewed, emails had been answered and tomorrow's schedule had been reorganized at least three different times. Since I was finally returning to the office after days away, I wanted everything to run as smoothly as possible.Convincing Norman to let me resume work had been an uphill battle. If there was one thing I'd learned about my husband over the past few weeks, it was that once he made up his mind, changing it required nothing short of a miracle. He'd insisted I needed more rest.I'd insisted the company needed me.He'd reminded me that capable executives existed for a reason.I'd reminded him that I happened to be the CEO..Round and round we'd gone until he'd finally, and very reluctantly, agreed that I could return.Even then, he h
Dennis's POV The drive home felt unusually quiet. For the first time in days, I wasn't rehearsing another argument in my head.I was tired..Tired of the shouting and constant tension. Most of all, I was tired of coming home to a marriage that felt more like a battlefield than a home.As I stepped out of the car, I glanced at the small velvet gift bag resting on the passenger seat before picking it up.Inside was the limited-edition diamond necklace Nadia had admired weeks ago while scrolling through luxury jewelry online. She hadn't outright asked for it, but she'd made enough comments that I'd gotten the message..Maybe this would smooth things over and we'd finally stop fighting.By the time I reached our bedroom, she was seated before the vanity, absently brushing her hair. She didn't even look up when I entered.I cleared my throat."Baby..."Still nothing.I walked closer and placed the gift bag on the table beside her."I'm tired of fighting."That finally earned me a glance.
Genevieve POV By the time I got home, the emotional exhaustion had settled deep inside my bones.I hadn't realized how draining it would be to see my father again after everything that had happened between us.The conversation kept replaying in my head. His apology, his tears and the sound of him crying after I had walked away.No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop hearing it.I pushed open the front door and stepped inside the mansion. The living room lights were on, and Norman was sitting on the sofa with his laptop open on the coffee table. The moment he looked up and saw me, his smile appeared instinctively, but it disappeared just as quickly. He closed the laptop without hesitation."Hey."I forced a smile."Hi."He studied my face for a few seconds before standing."What happened?"I blinked."What do you mean?""You've been crying and before you tell me it's nothing, I've gotten pretty good at reading your face."I let out a quiet sigh."Am I really that obvious?""Only
Nora's POV We came straight home after the gala, the four of us, still buzzing with adrenaline from the nightPatricia pulled me into a tight hug the moment we walked through the door."I'm so proud of you," she said. "Girl, you did that. The way you spoke to both of them, the slap, the divorce pa
Nora's POV "Stupid rules?" Norman sat up straighter. "Those are not stupid rules. They're completely reasonable if you ask me.""They are absolutely not reasonable.""Read them out loud," he said. "Let's hear them.""You're really getting on my nerves, Norman.”"You're stalling. Read.""I'm not st
Nora 's POV For a second, I just stared at him, then I laughed not because it was funny, but because it had to be a lie.“Stop playing,” I said sharply. “There is no way you’re a CEO of Monarch Technology”His brow lifted.“That company is worth trillions,” I continued, my voice rising slightly. “
Nora 's POV Never in my life did I think I would wake up to the realization that someone had thrown me off a six-story building… and I was still somehow alive.Sharp pain slammed into me the moment I opened my eyes, and I winced instantly, squeezing them shut again.“Okay… nope,” I whispered weakl
