LOGINNora 's POV
“No,” I said, wiping at my tears with trembling fingers. “No… this is insane.” An hysterical laugh burst out of me, tears rolling down my cheeks as I shook my head. “This is a prank, right?” I looked from Dennis to Nadia, desperately searching their faces. I swallowed hard, my chest rising painfully. “Tell me this is some sick joke!” I screamed. “Both of you…say something! Tell me you’re lying!” Dennis let out a slow breath, like he was exhausted by my reaction, then he looked at me with cold finality. “You need to accept reality, Nora .” The laughter died in my throat as his jaw tightened. “The truth is, I was always too good for this marriage.” My heart dropped as he pulled Nadia closer. “Nadia is the kind of woman fit to carry my heir and stand beside me while I build my empire. She’s everything an Adams woman should be.” His eyes dragged over me with open contempt. “You were never that woman.” My knees buckled beneath me as I tried to push myself up from the floor, but my body felt heavy and painfully unsteady. My hand slipped against the polished marble as I struggled. Nadia threw her head back first, laughing openly. “Just look at her, so fat that she can't lift herself off the floor” I forced myself up, breathing hard, my whole body trembling. Then I looked Dennis dead in the eye. “Let me get this straight,” I said, my voice shaking. “After everything I’ve done for you… after five years of toiling and sacrificing for this family… you can stand there, look me in the eye, and betray me like this?” Dennis’s expression darkened instantly. “What exactly did you do for me, Nora ?” he asked coldly. I stared at him in disbelief.. “If anything,” he continued cruelly, “you made my life worse.” My mouth fell open. “Dennis , you’re a billionaire today because of me,” I shot back, my voice rising. “My ideas are the reason Adams Tech is…” “Please,” he cut in sharply, holding up a hand. “Shut that big mouth of yours and stop making noise.” His eyes narrowed with disgust. “Let it be known that I had millions of women lined up for me,” he said arrogantly. “I chose to pity you because you were pathetic, needy, and desperate for a husband.” Then his gaze dragged over me slowly, viciously.. “Now look at you,” he said with a bitter laugh. “An old bitch living off my name and money” Dennis let out a harsh breath, dragging a hand down his face like he had finally run out of patience. “You know what?” he said coldly. “I don’t have the energy to keep trading words with you.” He turned away from me, walked to his dresser, and pulled open the top drawer. Then he brought out a file and flung it at me. The papers scattered at my feet. “Start packing your things,” he said flatly. “I don’t want you in this house anymore. Nadia is moving her things tomorrow.” My heart stopped. No…No. This couldn’t be happening. “Those are divorce papers,” he said. “Already signed from the first day I married you. My lawyer will contact you soon. Sign them and leave quietly.” “You lie!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the room. Both of them looked at me, they looked shocked. “I’m not leaving my matrimonial home!” I shouted, tears pouring uncontrollably down my face. “And I’m not signing any stupid divorce papers!” I pointed at him with trembling fingers.. “You stood before God and swore for better or worse, Dennis . You made vows to me, and you’re going to stick to them!” My chest rose sharply. “I’m Nora Adams ,” I said, voice cracking but fierce. “And nothing is going to change that. Do you hear me? Nothing!” Dennis slowly turned toward me, his jaw clenched so hard the muscle ticked. “Are you daring me?” he asked. Something inside me snapped.. I stepped forward and jabbed my finger hard into his chest. “Yes,” I spat through my tears. “I’m daring you, Dennis . Do your worst!” My whole body shook violently.. “I’m not leaving!” I screamed. “What exactly do you take me for? Trash?” My finger pressed harder against his chest. “You think you can use me for five years and then throw me away like I meant nothing?” My voice cracked on the last word. Fresh tears streamed down my face.. “I’m almost forty, Dennis ,” I choked out, my chest heaving painfully. “Do you even understand what it means for a woman to start all over again?” My lips trembled uncontrollably. “My only crime is being fat,” I whispered brokenly. “And I’m willing to change for you.” I grabbed his arm desperately.. “I’m willing to do anything,” I begged. “Anything… just for you to love me again, please Vicent, don't ruin this marriage…I love you Dennis please, don't do this to me please” Immediately, Nadia let out a sharp scream “Ahh…my stomach!” Her hand flew to her belly as her face twisted in sudden panic. “Dennis …” she whimpered weakly. “I think something is wrong with the baby…” Everything changed in an instant as Dennis shoved me aside so fast I nearly lost my footing. “Baby!” he panicked, rushing to her side so carelessly he almost slipped headfirst on the tiled floor. His arms were around her immediately, his face pale with fear. “What’s wrong? Talk to me. Do you want me to take you to the hospital right now?” Nadia leaned weakly against his chest, breathing heavily like she was in pain. “No…” she said softly, her voice trembling “I think I just need a hot water massage. My body feels sore…” Then her eyes lifted to mine and a cruel smile flickered briefly across her lips before disappearing. “I want Nora to do it.” Dennis ’s head snapped toward me. Nadia held her stomach protectively and let fresh tears gather in her eyes. “If she refuses,” she whispered, voice shaking dramatically, “I’ll leave this house tonight… and you’ll never see your child again.”Chapter 64Genevieve's POV "There hasn't been any major public incident since the lunch meeting with Mr. Adams."I paused."That's strange, Dennis that I know would have launched another attack by now”"His legal team has been working aggressively behind the scenes to resolve the frozen accounts, but government investigators are still reviewing several financial records."I nodded thoughtfully."And the media?""They're still covering the investigation almost daily."She hesitated before continuing."Most shareholders are remaining quiet publicly, but internally there's growing concern.”I remained silent for a few moments, slowly tapping my pen against the polished mahogany desk."Dennis has gone quiet," I said at last. "And that's exactly what bothers me."Marissa nodded in agreement."I had the same thought, ma'am.""Dennis doesn't stay quiet unless he's planning something bigger. Every move he makes serves a purpose. If he isn't attacking publicly, then he's rebuilding his positi
Gabrielle's POV I walked into Lennox Global with a smile I hadn't worn in days. For the first time since everything happened with Dennis, the court case and my forced absence from work, I finally felt like myself again. The familiar sight of employees moving briskly across the lobby, the sound of elevator chimes and the quiet buzz of conversations somehow soothed me.I had missed this place. The receptionist was the first to notice me."Good morning, Mrs. Adams!”Almost immediately, several employees turned in my direction."Welcome back, ma'am!""It's good to have you back!""We've missed you."I smiled warmly at everyone as I made my way toward the executive elevator."Thank you. I've missed all of you too."The elevator doors opened onto the executive floor, and before I could take two steps, someone came running toward me."Mrs. Adams!"Marissa. She threw her arms around me without the slightest hesitation.I laughed as I hugged her back."Easy there."She pulled away almost imme
Genevieve's POV Patricia reached for her glass of orange juice and took a satisfied sip before looking at me over the rim of the glass."So..." she said with a knowing smile. "When are you finally resuming work?""Tomorrow."Her face lit up immediately."Finally! I was beginning to think your husband had permanently confiscated your office.”I laughed, shaking my head."You have no idea how difficult it was convincing him.""I can imagine."I leaned back against the sofa with an amused sigh."Norman can be unbelievably stubborn when he thinks he's protecting someone. Every time I brought up work, he'd remind me that my health came first and the company could survive a few more days without me.”Patricia chuckled."He's not wrong.""I know he isn't," I admitted. "But try explaining that to someone who has an entire company waiting for her. I practically had to negotiate like I was closing a billion-dollar acquisition before he finally agreed to let me resume tomorrow.""And what final
Genevieve's POV The final document slid neatly into its folder, and I leaned back in my chair with a satisfied sigh.Finally.For the first time in what felt like forever, my desk no longer looked like a disaster zone.Stacks of contracts had been reviewed, emails had been answered and tomorrow's schedule had been reorganized at least three different times. Since I was finally returning to the office after days away, I wanted everything to run as smoothly as possible.Convincing Norman to let me resume work had been an uphill battle. If there was one thing I'd learned about my husband over the past few weeks, it was that once he made up his mind, changing it required nothing short of a miracle. He'd insisted I needed more rest.I'd insisted the company needed me.He'd reminded me that capable executives existed for a reason.I'd reminded him that I happened to be the CEO..Round and round we'd gone until he'd finally, and very reluctantly, agreed that I could return.Even then, he h
Dennis's POV The drive home felt unusually quiet. For the first time in days, I wasn't rehearsing another argument in my head.I was tired..Tired of the shouting and constant tension. Most of all, I was tired of coming home to a marriage that felt more like a battlefield than a home.As I stepped out of the car, I glanced at the small velvet gift bag resting on the passenger seat before picking it up.Inside was the limited-edition diamond necklace Nadia had admired weeks ago while scrolling through luxury jewelry online. She hadn't outright asked for it, but she'd made enough comments that I'd gotten the message..Maybe this would smooth things over and we'd finally stop fighting.By the time I reached our bedroom, she was seated before the vanity, absently brushing her hair. She didn't even look up when I entered.I cleared my throat."Baby..."Still nothing.I walked closer and placed the gift bag on the table beside her."I'm tired of fighting."That finally earned me a glance.
Genevieve POV By the time I got home, the emotional exhaustion had settled deep inside my bones.I hadn't realized how draining it would be to see my father again after everything that had happened between us.The conversation kept replaying in my head. His apology, his tears and the sound of him crying after I had walked away.No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop hearing it.I pushed open the front door and stepped inside the mansion. The living room lights were on, and Norman was sitting on the sofa with his laptop open on the coffee table. The moment he looked up and saw me, his smile appeared instinctively, but it disappeared just as quickly. He closed the laptop without hesitation."Hey."I forced a smile."Hi."He studied my face for a few seconds before standing."What happened?"I blinked."What do you mean?""You've been crying and before you tell me it's nothing, I've gotten pretty good at reading your face."I let out a quiet sigh."Am I really that obvious?""Only
Nora's POV We came straight home after the gala, the four of us, still buzzing with adrenaline from the nightPatricia pulled me into a tight hug the moment we walked through the door."I'm so proud of you," she said. "Girl, you did that. The way you spoke to both of them, the slap, the divorce pa
Nora's POV "Stupid rules?" Norman sat up straighter. "Those are not stupid rules. They're completely reasonable if you ask me.""They are absolutely not reasonable.""Read them out loud," he said. "Let's hear them.""You're really getting on my nerves, Norman.”"You're stalling. Read.""I'm not st
Nora 's POV For a second, I just stared at him, then I laughed not because it was funny, but because it had to be a lie.“Stop playing,” I said sharply. “There is no way you’re a CEO of Monarch Technology”His brow lifted.“That company is worth trillions,” I continued, my voice rising slightly. “
Nora 's POV Never in my life did I think I would wake up to the realization that someone had thrown me off a six-story building… and I was still somehow alive.Sharp pain slammed into me the moment I opened my eyes, and I winced instantly, squeezing them shut again.“Okay… nope,” I whispered weakl
