Chapter 2

Author: King Newton
[Pfft! She always looks like she's better than everyone else and is focused only on her studies. Who knew she was privately so jealous and malicious!]

When Jenny's lackeys saw the other comments accusing me, they fanned the flames by saying how I usually liked to make things difficult for Jenny, not letting her stream in the room.

It went on to the point where they started spreading rumors about me pining for Jenny's wealthy boyfriend. How I poisoned Jenny and disfigured her because I couldn't get him.

I sneered.

Ever since Jenny became an influencer, she was skipping classes and giving up on her education. Her live streams were so disruptive that I couldn't study or do my homework.

Was I in any way wrong for just reminding her a couple of times?

As for her brainless boyfriend, who only got into our school because his father was the chairman, how could I possibly fall for him?

At that thought, I logged into my account and sent out a statement.

[All of this has nothing to do with me! If there are any further slanderous rumors, I'll save them as evidence and report to the police!]

This somehow provoked everyone even more.

[I remember Eve Green spends all year in the lab extracting materials, right? She definitely has the means to poison someone!]

[Reporting to the police? You should be arrested first!]

I was so furious that I chuckled before hitting back.

[Those accusing me of poisoning, show actual evidence. If not, just shut up!]

At that, the students started to cool down a little. Some even started standing up for me.

[All those who accused Eve before even getting to the bottom of this are the embarrassment of Queenstown University!]

[Exactly! Everyone, just calm down! If she's innocent, then everyone here is an accomplice to injustice!]

Others pointed out that tomorrow was the graduation defense and that this wasn't the time to lose their heads.

[If you're arrested and miss out on your defense, you'll have to repeat another semester!]

However, all the reasonable advice was thrown out of the window by Jenny's boyfriend, Tony Jenson.

He wrote, [I'll reward anyone five million for evidence that Eve poisoned Jenny.]

The entire forum was lit ablaze.

[Damn! Five million! I wouldn't mind even staying on for three more semesters!]

[Tony Jenson in his usual element! How dominating and protective of Jenny he is! Jenny is one lucky girl to have a boyfriend like him!]

I could not help but roll my eyes.

What a clown.

Evidence? As if they could find any.

I closed the forum and returned to my thesis, adding the final data and patiently waiting for the defense the next day.

I believe that the truth will come to light once everyone sees my thesis.

However, right before I was about to head up on stage to present my thesis, Jenny, accompanied by a few police officers, barged in.

"Ms. Eve Green. Your roommate has accused you of poisoning her skincare products. Please cooperate with our investigation."

Jenny's face was wrapped in bandages, only showing her eyes, visibly in pain.

The other students and professors who saw her in such a miserable state showed her pity.

I chuckled and projected my thesis presentation on the big screen.

"Everyone, calm down. You'll understand once you see my thesis."

Over a hundred pages—

Detailing how, since freshman year, I extracted and analyzed toxic components from several herbs and recombined them.

Also, their long-term effect on healthy skin was a slow, continuous destruction that could lie dormant for up to four years, until reaching a critical point, before erupting into total decay and collapse.

And on the final pages, the supplementary evidence was unmistakable: screenshots of Jenny's face from the live stream!

At that moment, not just the students, but even the professors were stunned speechless.

Some angrily slammed the table in fury.

"Eve Green, how could you be so evil! You're a disgrace to Queenstown University!"

"Isn't your thesis a confession? You're the one who caused Jenny's disfigurement! You'll go to prison!"

"I propose that, in addition to criminal responsibility, the university should reject this thesis, expel her, and publicly denounce her!"

This time, everyone listened in silence. No one caused a scene. As I continued my professional presentation, expressions of realization slowly spread across every face.At last, they understood why I chose this research as my graduation thesis. After all, the compound I developed already underwent strict testing by a panel of top experts. And yet, there was always one concern in my mind.Once this skincare drug was revealed, especially after people saw that those once disfigured could regain their appearance, would not countless healthy individuals be tempted to use it just to become even more beautiful?"Ask yourselves. Even if I said that this product is toxic, will you believe me? Or will you give in to temptation to try it out?""What about those corrupted businesses? Would they secretly get some of the materials and sell the product to everyone?"Everyone online turned silent at my questions.[Eve is right. I wouldn't have listened to her. I would have bought it out and t

Jenny's gaze kept shifting. First, confusion, then hatred. In the end, all that was left was regret. She gritted her teeth. Her roommates panicked."Jenny, did you or did you not steal Eve's products? Tell the truth!""Yes, at this point, what is more important than our beautiful faces?"Jenny finally lost it and slumped onto a chair. Tears fell. This time, it was genuine remorse."I-It was me! I was the one who stole it!"Those words instantly ignited the crowd. The most furious were her die-hard fans."Jenny Shaw! So your persona of a rich and beautiful influencer was just an act? You have us all fooled!""You tramp! You instigated us to come and beat up Eve Green! You used us as pawns!"As the truth came to light, Jenny let out a sigh of relief. She crawled over to me, hugging my leg.She was sobbing hard, ignoring the yells of her fans."Eve, please hand me the antidote! You have to cure my face! As long as I get my looks back, I can continue taking ads and marry into a

I looked at my phone. Whether it be the live stream or the online comments, everything was completely reversed in an instant.[That brought tears to my eyes! Those heroes sacrificed so much! They deserve our respect!][Eve Green, we misunderstood you. Thank you!]A shrill voice cut through jarringly."Even if this is true, it doesn't erase the fact that Eve's family's company released toxic cosmetics to harm the public!"I looked at Jenny, whose face was twisted with obsession. I sighed. She completely lost it. Even at that point, she was still making her final, desperate struggle.Fine.I shall send her off with a final blow."Jenny, I knew right from the beginning that the compound I extracted was toxic. Meaning to say, it can only act on damaged skin tissue. It cannot be used on normal, healthy skin. Do you understand now?"So, how could I possibly use it on normal skincare products to harm others? I'm not mad enough to shoot myself in the foot.Jenny was completely stunne

The sheer professionalism and overwhelming presence instantly silenced everyone in the room.Steady, commanding footsteps echoed.A middle-aged man in a crisp police uniform, his shoulder insignia gleaming, stepped into view. The two police officers froze, then quickly snapped to attention.“Chief! We already requested backup. How did this bring you here personally?”The chief, John Donovan, gave a slight nod, calmly directing the armed police to separate and restrain the troublemakers. Then he stepped forward and firmly grasped my hand."I'm not here because of the protest. This is just a coincidence."This made the police officers even more confused."So, why are you here?"John smiled at me kindly."Eve Green, I'm here to award you the Honorary Citizen Medal, in recognition of your contributions to police officers, firefighters, and other public service personnel."Only then did I notice a small box and a red certificate holder in his hands. When he opened it, a gleamin

The situation spun wildly out of control. The professors dedicated their entire lives to the sciences. They never experienced such a thing before. All of them were completely baffled. The people online were indeed quite efficient, too. In a few short minutes, they managed to find out my entire family's information. When they saw a subsidiary company under my father's company, which happened to be a self-founded skincare brand, everyone excitedly thought that they found the truth.[My god! This company was founded when Eve Green was just a freshman! They clearly must have poisoned their products!][Damn! How dare they market themselves as a trusted local brand? More like fraud!]Among the insults, some fans of the brand couldn't help but raise their concerns.[I've been using this brand for two years! My skin is still great. Could this be a misunderstanding?][Yes! All skin products have to go through strict testing. How could they sell something poisonous?][Don't listen to r

When I saw them, I was instantly relieved. The students were completely baffled. None of them recognized these experts. However, the principal immediately went up to greet them affectionately."Professor Albert Walton, Professor Michael Chant, what brings you here?"The leader of the group, a tiny, skinny old man, was Albert Walton, also my grandfather's good friend. He glared at the principal before walking over to me quickly."Let her go at once! Eve's research is legitimate! I stake my reputation on it!"The police officers looked at each other, clearly baffled. The principal introduced the group of professors to everyone. They finally understood who they were.A long list of prestigious titles. Impeccable backgrounds. Countless research achievements.Any one of them alone would be enough to shock the room. And now, this entire group of professors surrounded me, personally acknowledging me as their protege. The police officers instantly relaxed."Dear esteemed professor
